Kitchandro Posted 26 April 2013 Posted 26 April 2013 What does that even mean? The presence of clappers doesn't devalue our support, taking us too seriously again. Who gives a monkey's what some snotty Hull fan thinks watching the game? If you don't like the clappers idea, put yours under your seat, and sing and shout as normal. If the stadium is as at the same volume as it normally is, which by all logic it will be, why would praise for our support be taken away? Because they see a smiling child on the TV waving a clapper around? Hull fans? It's on TV in front of the entire country, a lot of Championship fans will the watching it, maybe even football lovers who support clubs from other leagues. I do care what other fans think. I want people to say that we're a proud club with great tradition and passionate fans who create an old-school raucous atmosphere. I dont want people saying Leicester are a tinpot club with shite fans who can't create an atmosphere, can't fill the stadium for their last home game when they're pushing for the play-offs, have goal music and tacky shit like clappers. And regardless of what other people think, I think we look tacky, I'm embarrassed about stuff like this. I don't like what our club is becoming. This is not what I envisioned when I was younger, this is not the kind of football atmosphere I want. And it's not the kind of atmosphere those who really care about the atmosphere want. The clappers do devalue our support. It shows to the world that our real, vocal, old-fashioned atmosphere has been beaten by modern football. Tonight is an example of that.

Jimmy96 Posted 26 April 2013 Posted 26 April 2013 Why don't you just wait until you know what it is before slagging it off
ealingfox Posted 26 April 2013 Posted 26 April 2013 They played one tune just before kick off IIRC? Where's at the walkers its non stop drowning shit No, unfortunately you don't remember correctly. They played numerous songs between half 2 and 3, which always included Republica and Robbie Williams if I remember correctly.

The clappers do devalue our support. It shows to the world that our real, vocal, old-fashioned atmosphere has been beaten by modern football. Tonight is an example of that. Again it was just an example. Us being a proud club with great tradition and passionate fans is true, and that won't change because of one match on TV where lots of happy children are playing with clappers. Maybe these people watching the match tonight will also have seen the sheer passion and unlikely volume from the 8000 at Boro' etc etc. And again if you are waiting for the matchday experience to become exactly what you want, you will be waiting a very long time. When I step into the ground, I'll be honest, I don't give a hoot about the pre-match music, because I don't listen to it. I don't give a hoot about a pie being five quid, because I haven't come to have a meal. I don't give a hoot about goal music, because I'm too busy celebrating. I don't give a hoot about the silent old man in the next seat over looking at me for shouting and swearing, because I'm not worried about what he thinks. I don't give a hoot about what the away fans or other fans watching on TV are thinking, because they clearly don't know about or think about the Club like I do. And lastly I wouldn't give a hoot about clappers, because I'm singing, shouting, watching and concentrating about what's happening on the pitch.
1964FOX Posted 26 April 2013 Posted 26 April 2013 The amount of fans at other clubs that would applaud 'old school' atmosphere is getting smaller and smaller. All clubs are going for the family friendly stuff so most people watching Sky tomight would probably love us all aving clappers. The hardcore fans from other clubs will call us tinpot no matter what we do because that's old fashioned football. The real problem is we have too many people complaining about no atmosphere and not enough of them creating atmosphere. Whatever we get as a surprise let's wait and see and see if we can use it in any way to improve the atmosphere, if we can then let's do it.
tomtom Posted 26 April 2013 Posted 26 April 2013 Fiver thing was just an example. So why are you telling me this? Tell the Club! You know they played music before the match at Filbert Street don't you? "Baby, I'm ready to GOOOOO!!!" Ring any bells? That song was played as part of the teams introduction music (ripping off Sunderland) the guys pointing out playing the same old music extremely loud for half hour before the game which drowns out any fans starting their own songs
Corky Posted 26 April 2013 Posted 26 April 2013 Can't believe how pathetic some of you are, so ungrateful and so determined to sit on a pedestal as far as this atmosphere bollocks goes. Moan about the club not doing anything, then instantly deride when they do. So where do you expect them to go from there? MEET THEM HALFWAY! Look at our owners, then look at Venky's or Vincent Tan. Our owners clearly have mountains of respect for the fans compared to those clowns, they are only trying to do a good thing for you, and it fills me with a lot of pleasure and hope that they are (not for the first time I might add). BTW If the clappers were used with any kind of synchrony they could improve the atmosphere. Done to a melody they will raise noise levels. What should we be grateful for exactly? To be honest, I'd rather they didn't do anything than give us little clappy things which make us look like a lower-league day out at a big club. Just need the jester hats and face paint now. They could help the atmosphere- not playing the music so bloody loud before the game so you can barely hear the person next to you, not killing the crowd noise immediately after a goal by blaring out pointless music, allowing fans to create their own build-up rather than have it killed instantly with speakers at full volume. There is little to be grateful for here, sorry. We are turning into a lower league club off the pitch and some seem proud of it.
ashfosse Posted 26 April 2013 Posted 26 April 2013 Agree with Dan. To put it in short, the fans don’t have any say in the running’s of the club. The board is full of people who don’t have a clue about football or how a football club should be run. Things like Happy clappers, Scarves with ‘we love you’ on them, and poor ticket pricing all add up to the conclusion that the people in charge of our club don’t have a clue. Would love to ask Whelan were she sees our match-day experience a few years’ time, but I’m not sure I would like the answer. We are slowly losing all our tradition and what makes us unique as a club. Give it a few more years and things like ‘When your smiling’ will be all but forgotten. There’s no common sense being used. As a club, if you want to help create a better atmosphere surely the first thing you do is consult the fans? If they want to help, why aren’t they trying to develop a long term solution to helping the atmosphere rather than the odd half-arsed, plastic attempt? If this big surprise is indeed happy clappers, half the fans will be immediately p*ssed off before a balls even been kicked. RIP Leicester City.
peach0000 Posted 26 April 2013 Posted 26 April 2013 Why is everyone moaning about clappers. Firstly how do you know the surprise will be clappers. secondly if you don't like them don't use them theres no need to moan about them.

Guest MattP Posted 26 April 2013 Posted 26 April 2013 This thread is unreal, well the posters are I feel like running up half a million quids worth of loans on their mortgages and then leaving a box of clappers and a 'we love you' scarf on the doorstep to show I'm doing my best to help them.
ealingfox Posted 26 April 2013 Posted 26 April 2013 If they want to help that much there are far more worthy things they can do than shove tack and shit onto peoples seats. Again, if this is the case then why are you telling me? Tell the Club!

It's their club - they own it .... the debt is theirs not yours. They are doing a nice thing giving you something. Doesn't matter what they do they can't do right!!
Guest MattP Posted 26 April 2013 Posted 26 April 2013 Again, if this is the case then why are you telling me? Tell the Club! I have, I'll tell him in person as well if I've ever lucky enough to bump into one of them.
5waller5 Posted 26 April 2013 Posted 26 April 2013 I have, I'll tell him in person as well if I've ever lucky enough to bump into one of them. What would you tell him??

Doesn't matter what they do they can't do right!! It's a club that fell out of his birthday card, I was here before him and I'll here after he's long gone. This attitude is exactly why English football fans have lost any power over their clubs whatsoever, no wonder the Germans are laughing at us.

Probably their best ever season in context, owned by the fans....and selling their best 2 players to their nearest rivals in the summer.

Doesn't matter what they do they can't do right!! They can do it right, there are opportunities, as I've mentioned, to tweak current things that may boost the atmosphere. It doesn't cost anything to turn the music down slightly, or to let the crowd noise fill the ground after a goal, it's worth far more than any plastic clappers and little flags will do.
kylestyle06 Posted 26 April 2013 Posted 26 April 2013 This is the difference Atmoshpere - the fans roaring, getting behind the team. This is our attempt Embarrassing.

Aren't they doing those small things??? The pre-match video they've had produced ... the half time entertainment etc ... it's never going to please all the people ... but the guys can't be criticised for trying surely?? And to give a freebie - i just don't see how that can be criticised??
Kitchandro Posted 26 April 2013 Posted 26 April 2013 'Fans' like you never seize to amaze me. Biggest over reaction ever. If you don't like it, don't go...simple. Fvcking grow up. I won't go, isn't that the bloody problem? If the owners want loads of empty seats then they can have them. They make their choices about ticket prices/matchday for whatever reasons. But don't expect the kind of stuff they are doing to bring in full houses. To me, our attendances this season say a lot about how the club is run and what perception fans have of going to matches/tciket prices etc, considering how encouraging we've been on the field at times. Look, I'm fed up with deabting stuff like this tbh. Clearly some people just love the owners and can't accept that they (ok, the club as a whole) have dropped numerous clangers when it comes to the fans. I don't want to get mardy about it, I've made my feelings clear and now I'd rather just think about hoping we win this match.
