Guest MattP Posted 26 April 2013 Posted 26 April 2013 What would you tell him?? You're a loyal customer nothing else. Believe me I realise that. If this was a Tesco/Sainsburys situation I'd have stopped spending any money years ago. What would I tell him? Well I'd ask him why he thinks its acceptable to run up huge debts on a championship football club, I'd ask him if he thinks it's ethical that why he lets people run that debt up if he's thinks its acceptable to charge a mammoth interest rate on it. I'd ask him when this does come crashing down does he give the ground to the club or will we have to pay him for it. I'd move onto fan culture and ask him if he thinks he should cater for all sorts instead of just looking at families. I'm pretty sure I'll have been carted away before I could finish. Anyway let's all get behind the side tonight, the importance of promotion this year or next is probably vital to the future of the football club.
Kitchandro Posted 26 April 2013 Posted 26 April 2013 It also adds up to the conclusion that they are trying to help! They are trying to do good things for the fans. If you're going to be like that then do us all a favour, and don't come again. Ok, last point - no it doesn't. If they wanted to help the fans they could have done it in the obvious ways - not making the game a platinum fixture for example. This gesture is half-hearted, fake and meaningless, it's a short term attempt at a fix instead of a long term sign of respect. If this game was a Gold instead of a platinum fixture I'd be less annoyed about this tacky crap, but it's made all the worse by the fact they are ignoring the main thing that fans actually want.
purpleronnie Posted 26 April 2013 Posted 26 April 2013 This is the difference Atmoshpere - the fans roaring, getting behind the team. This is our attempt Embarrassing. whats with the yank flag?

But it's a bit simplistic i think ..... They have bought the club as a business and every club is a business. They run their tax affairs and charging interest at the maximum permissible rate is just sensible tax planning. The debts are to him - so lending it from one pocket to another. Like you say ... BIG night!

Kitchandro Posted 26 April 2013 Posted 26 April 2013 Aren't they doing those small things??? The pre-match video they've had produced ... the half time entertainment etc ... it's never going to please all the people ... but the guys can't be criticised for trying surely?? And to give a freebie - i just don't see how that can be criticised?? Sorry but I can't resist. Those things are not important to anyone, much like these shit things rumoured to be done tonight. Why don't they do the things that are important to a lot of fans, like the things that I and others have mentioned?

kylestyle06 Posted 26 April 2013 Posted 26 April 2013 whats with the yank flag? Don't you think that football is going the American way?
Dan Posted 26 April 2013 Posted 26 April 2013 Agree with Dan. To put it in short, the fans don’t have any say in the running’s of the club. The board is full of people who don’t have a clue about football or how a football club should be run. Things like Happy clappers, Scarves with ‘we love you’ on them, and poor ticket pricing all add up to the conclusion that the people in charge of our club don’t have a clue. Would love to ask Whelan were she sees our match-day experience a few years’ time, but I’m not sure I would like the answer. We are slowly losing all our tradition and what makes us unique as a club. Give it a few more years and things like ‘When your smiling’ will be all but forgotten. There’s no common sense being used. As a club, if you want to help create a better atmosphere surely the first thing you do is consult the fans? If they want to help, why aren’t they trying to develop a long term solution to helping the atmosphere rather than the odd half-arsed, plastic attempt? If this big surprise is indeed happy clappers, half the fans will be immediately p*ssed off before a balls even been kicked. RIP Leicester City. I agree entirely with this. Sadly though I'm in the minority and I'm seen as 'failing to get with the times', this shite cannot continue to happen to our support.
purpleronnie Posted 26 April 2013 Posted 26 April 2013 Don't you think that football is going the American way? not sure, not like the MLS anyway....unfortunately.

They're damned if they do and damned if they don't ..... I think they have added the bits and pieces around the fixture so that season ticket holders don't moan about the dropped ticket prices. For me there was a better solution - keep the ticket price the same but anyone that went to the watford game would be handed a voucher, season ticket holder or not .... the voucher would be worth say £40 off next year's season ticket - it would have swelled the crowd and given cash not tat back, and been fair to ST holders and pay on the gate.
kylestyle06 Posted 26 April 2013 Posted 26 April 2013 not sure, not like the MLS anyway....unfortunately. Clapping at free kicks, goal music, even cheerleaders at half time. It sure is going that way mate Next the stewards will start selling pretzels and donuts
RowlattsFox Posted 26 April 2013 Posted 26 April 2013 They had these 'clapper' things at the Snooker Shoot Out that I went too, unless I am confusing them with something else. They were bloody annoying, and after 5 minutes all people were doing with them is hitting each other round the back of the head with them, although that was quite funny May be wrong but I am sure I saw the Bayern Munich clapping with something like this the other night. Add nothing to the atmosphere, more noise but not the right type of noise. Mind you, atleast they are not giving people horns to blow.
5waller5 Posted 26 April 2013 Posted 26 April 2013 Sorry but I can't resist. Those things are not important to anyone, much like these shit things rumoured to be done tonight. Why don't they do the things that are important to a lot of fans, like the things that I and others have mentioned? But there was a whole thread dedicated to how brilliant that video was a few weeks ago??? It's not shit and unimportant to EVERYONE. But they can never please everyone either. What's important to you may well be shit to others?
ealingfox Posted 26 April 2013 Posted 26 April 2013 i don't even understand how dortmund did that it moved up the stand. but if they can do it why can't leicester with a giant fox or something The background was done with pieces of coloured paper. The guy with binoculars actually came up vertically, I assumed it was pulled up by wires connected to the top of the stand which were pulled to bring it up.
purpleronnie Posted 26 April 2013 Posted 26 April 2013 Clapping at free kicks, goal music, even cheerleaders at half time. It sure is going that way mate Next the stewards will start selling pretzels and donuts not been to an mls game then? Maybe games in england are more like an NFL game, certainly not like the MLS.

But they can never please everyone either. What's important to you may well be shit to others? I actually just think it's very easy to criticise. I'm not actually defending the video per se .... because i don't give a toss about it .... but at least they are trying. And for too long the criticism of the club was that they didn't try.
ozleicester Posted 26 April 2013 Posted 26 April 2013 I dont like goal music I dont like pre match music I want to stand up 3000 other people in L1 and surrounds feel the same way apparently, that leaves the other 20,000 who it would appear either dont want, or dont care about these things.... and that 20,000 might enjoy tacky ideas that make noise and possibly enhance the atmosphere. The clappers etc do NO HARM, they dont solve the problems.. but its better than nothing
Corky Posted 26 April 2013 Posted 26 April 2013 The video is a real positive, I'll give them credit for that.
KFS Posted 26 April 2013 Posted 26 April 2013 Can we all just accept that it's Thai dancers and get on with supporting the team?

But do quite like the pre-match music!!!! that's how hard it is to please 25000 people all with different tastes!!

Dan Posted 26 April 2013 Posted 26 April 2013 The video is a real positive, I'll give them credit for that. This. Far more like it.
_Fatboyslow_ Posted 26 April 2013 Posted 26 April 2013 Can we all just accept that it's Thai dancers and get on with supporting the team? Not man boys I hope
