I was the opposite ..... loved going to the games with Sven around and stopped having any enthusiasm under NP. For every head there's a tail!!

Well some people are easily pleased with big name managers.

When you've only had the pleasure of following Leicester since the last Prem relegation onwards, Sven's era (regardless of the consequences) is without doubt the most exciting period some of us have experienced. That's seconded by the signing of Jason Jarrett on loan.

Style over substance.

Are you 15?

I'm not sure about that, I thought Jason was quite handy as a footballer.

No, but that's the point where I could properly appreciate football, none of my family like it so I wasn't really into it from an early age. Sure I remember the cup finals and the Prem years, but I didn't appreciate them or gain any 'footballing memories' from them.

And to keep relevance to thread topic, I'm still supporting David O'Leary for the job.

Fair enough.

I've supported them since 1974 ish and it was the second most exciting period behind that of MON.

The abuse you get on here for enjoying spending money and watching an international manager play nice football just isn't the leicester way ..... It's a very socialist place on FT where good old down to earth effort counts for everything .... spend thrift northern grit counts for everything and flashing the cash and buying some excitement is perversely looked down upon.

Dour ordinary working class hoofball like our Nigey's is the only thing that's respectable ..... none of this nancy pants foreign rubbish tippy tappy stuff.

However exciting you may have found an ex England manager taking charge of a full house against Real Madrid, you can't admit it because that's beyond our station lad.

Exactly .... the dour rubbish we've been served this season of failure and still they defend him!!!!!

You sound like as if we've just been relegated.

We were dour in patches (towards the end of the season) and I still don't see how reaching the playoffs can be considered "failure".

Given our resources, the small squad, the average age of our team and the competition around us in this league, we've done rather well.

So wait, why did people find us tapping the ball around our own half and then trying to play through the defence and failing, losing possession, then Kasper hoofing it for the last 15 minutes exciting? That's what I remember from Sven.

The most money spent on a squad in the division and 6th is OK.

Do you think we have limited resources??? Seriously??

I just don't remember it that way ......

I honestly don't know whether the usual look back and slate the last bloke is bieng done here or whether i've got it completely wrong .... but i remember being excited about going to the football when sven was in charge. In fact i couldn't wait for the next game. I hadn't felt like that for a while and haven't since.

This dour hoofball has seen us score 4 goals against several teams (like Sven), 5 once (like Sven) and 6 twice (unlike Sven). It has also seen us in a promotion race twice in 4 years whilst the nice football got us to 7th then backwards.

I was well excited by the full house against Real Madrid, different level to the full houses Micky Adams' shite used to pull in when we were finishing second and playing the top teams in league games.

And Pearson "lovers" are accused of accepting mediocrity.

According to your logic, the more money a club has at its disposal, it automatically has to be more successful than others.

In what world are you living in? Your maths, as simple as they may be, don't add up in football.

And I do believe the owners have realized their mistakes from the past and tightened the budget already this season, with FFP looming above the club's head.

Hence the few additional players we've got during the January transfer window.

Thing is though, we actually wasn`t playing hoofball when we were scoring all those goals, we were (surprisingly under Pearson) playing some pretty good and expansive football.

Sadly Mr Pearson reverted to type when under pressure, and we went back to his good old hoofball again..

Oh Really???

Someone should tell Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea, that all that splashing the cash won't get them anywhere!!!!!!!

Try to think first, type second.

In which case I look forward to day when Big Ron gets appointed with Marcel Desailly his assistant, and the whole of Foxestalk comes together as one big happy community.

It's not the football that was necessarily exciting, more the ambition, speculation and expectation. Just having that feel around the football club. For me personally, it was just enjoyable picking up the paper and seeing David Beckham being linked on the back page, rather than 2 lines before the rugby page announcing we'd signed Josh Low.

In terms of the football it didn't go to plan, but I wouldn't have sacked him when we did, it would have been nice to allow him to see that season through, and draw a line under that era as it was always going to be a short-term thing with Sven. I wouldn't sack Pearson now either, having seen the short-term shite dished up the past few years, it finally feels like the clubs progressing and building, and its nice to have the feelings of solid foundations in place. I'd give him one more year. Then Big Ron and Marcel.
