The Horse's Mouth Posted 15 May 2013 Posted 15 May 2013 Darling you've got to let me know, should I stay or should I go?
flowwolf Posted 16 May 2013 Posted 16 May 2013 No what i`m saying is Mr Babylon is that we have had 2 good 5 game spells during the season, picking up 30 points from those 10 games, but that over the other 36 games, which is well over half the season we have been consistently poor, certainly in terms of results, and Pearson when under pressure has gone back to his tried and tested hoof ball! Someone else can see the light ! the seasons statistics do not lie. First half of the season--playing good attractive attacking football and thrashing some teams off the park. Second half of the season after a couple of defeats Perason panics and reverts to his old tried and tested hoofball , the result two wins in sixteen games. Yet people on here still insist he knows what he is doing and will get us promoted next season. Thankfully it is only a straw poll on here that supports him, the majority of city fans know he is not up to it and will be glad when he is shown the door. The alternative is yet another year of hoofball fall outs with players and having to get rid of him half way through the season.
indierich06 Posted 16 May 2013 Posted 16 May 2013 That's exactly how i see it too .... we'll keep him, his form continues, sack him 13 games into next season and we find that we've wasted 3 seasons on him. I've felt like we made a stop gap panic appointment when we signed him and his whole tenure just feels like we are playing out an inevitable waste of time. I just don't get how people can feel so passionate about defending the guy after he's failed. Because some people don't thinking losing in a play off semi final is the end of the world. If you think we have a divine right to be promoted from this league because we've spent a bit of money and we're a 'big' club, well guess what? We don't. This is one of the most competitive leagues in the world and there are a lot of big clubs in this league, and a lot of them are splashing the cash now too. Regardless of who is manager next season, if you think we're going to storm our way to a top two spot then you're going to be disappointed, because these lot are going to have their eyes on those top two spots too: QPR Reading Wigan Bolton Blackburn Watford/Crystal Palace Brighton Forest Leeds They're just the teams who it wouldn't surprise me to see finish next season in the top two. Then you've got the teams that come from nowhere and do well in this league every season. I don't care if we replace Pearson, as long as we replace him with someone better, but change for change's sake is ridiculous. Whenever Pearson has had a full season in charge with us, he's either gotten us promoted or into the playoffs, that's irrefutable. Unless there is a better option, I'd prefer my club to stick with a manager who at least has the ability to get us into the playoffs. The arrogance and expectation of some Leicester fans is unbelievable. We all want the best for our club, but some of us are more realistic. We can't buy our way to success, or wave a magic wand and get automatic promotion. Some people on this board have said 'sack Pearson and don't worry about the replacement, plenty of people will apply' - it's this kind of backwards, thoughtless bullshit that would leave us with a manager like Ian Dowie or Gary ****ing Megson. If Pearson goes and we bring in someone who has a better record or is a more talented manager on paper, then I've got no problem with that. But if the Thais sack Pearson and bring in some two-bit waste of space like Sousa then I'm going to be furious.
hackneyfox Posted 16 May 2013 Posted 16 May 2013 Well let's hope that doesn't happen then, wouldn't want you being furious. Some of us maybe a bit upset if he stays.
indierich06 Posted 16 May 2013 Posted 16 May 2013 Well let's hope that doesn't happen then, wouldn't want you being furious. Some of us maybe a bit upset if he stays. So you'd be happy if we sacked him off and brought in some complete waste of space, just to be rid of Pearson? Sounds like you've really got the club's interests at heart!
hackneyfox Posted 16 May 2013 Posted 16 May 2013 Now who is putting words in people's mouths, again? Usually takes a little while before you know whether the new manager is an improvement or not, you need to get over your fear of change.

Sounds like you've really got the club's interests at heart! Well no that would be replacing one waste of space with another. We have nothing to lose in getting rid of pearson because I doubt even another loser could dish up such hoofball and only win two games in sixteen.
Babylon Posted 16 May 2013 Posted 16 May 2013 First half of the season--playing good attractive attacking football and thrashing some teams off the park. Second half of the season after a couple of defeats Perason panics and reverts to his old tried and tested hoofball Just so you know we were second after two thirds of the season.
indierich06 Posted 16 May 2013 Posted 16 May 2013 Now who is putting words in people's mouths, again? Usually takes a little while before you know whether the new manager is an improvement or not, you need to get over your fear of change. I haven't got a fear of change, I've got a fear of shit managers. If Pearson stays, that's fine by me, but if Pearson goes, for me, the Thais have to make an excellent appointment, and none of the candidates getting mooted for the job at the minute inspire any confidence whatsoever. I'm not against change, and I don't fear it either. What I'm against is change for the sake of change and bringing in some two-bit manager in the hope that he might be able to do better than our current one.
flowwolf Posted 16 May 2013 Posted 16 May 2013 Just so you know we were second after two thirds of the season. Bit pedantic Babs if that's all you have got you should not have bothered. It changes nothing of what I said.
indierich06 Posted 16 May 2013 Posted 16 May 2013 Well no that would be replacing one waste of space with another. We have nothing to lose in getting rid of pearson because I doubt even another loser could dish up such hoofball and only win two games in sixteen. We have everything to lose in getting rid of Pearson. Wolves didn't think they had anything to lose in sacking McCarthy - after all they were on a shit run, what was the worst that could happen? They sacked him without bothering to consider who would replace him, and we all know what happened next. Like I said, I'm not against Pearson going, providing we a high quality candidate ready to replace him.

We were consistently poor for 36 games, and yet after two thirds of the season we were consistently better than everyone but Cardiff. ?
Babylon Posted 16 May 2013 Posted 16 May 2013 Bit pedantic Babs if that's all you have got you should not have bothered. It changes nothing of what I said. A bit pedantic? You are trying to rewrite an 18 game awful run into being half a season. And in that awful run there were Wins against Forest, Bolton, Blackburn and draws away to Brighton, Palace and Cardiff where we actually played pretty well.

LCFCGally Posted 16 May 2013 Posted 16 May 2013 For the same reasons cited throughout this thread, I believe Pearson should stay. He's building a good, young team who will only improve. He himself is a young(ish) manager who is learning every year and will only improve from the experience of this season. He has had 3 full seasons with us and has yet to fail to deliver a top 6 finish in any of them, which isn't something many (if any) championship managers can boast. Chopping and changing managers rarely works- short term boost followed by reverting to the mean (if you're lucky!). Sticking with managers and giving them time to build and develop their own team (with a few exceptions) seems to work better in the long run- Ferguson, Moyes, Pulis... Pearson has the foundations of a very good team in place- better than any we have seen at the KP in recent times- why rip those foundations up now? A new manager will want to make his own stamp and build his own team, at the very least it will unsettle the players. Regardless of all of this, I believe that whoever the manager is next season- the owners will make their own decision on that, that's their job- we, as Leicester City supporters should get behind him and the team, that's our job. We're supporters, let's support whoever is in charge, get behind the whole team (team includes manager in my opinion), and be the 12th man roaring our club on to promotion next season. Optimism goes a long way, it shouldn't be the case that a team has to be successful to receive good support, but good support can lead a team to be successful. LCFCTID!!!

Ok Babs I see what you mean, but there was two difinative styles of football played this season and the minute we stopped playing football and resorted to Kasper kicking it into the air in the hope Wood would get onto the end of it is where it all started to go wrong.
MC Prussian Posted 16 May 2013 Posted 16 May 2013 Now who is putting words in people's mouths, again? Usually takes a little while before you know whether the new manager is an improvement or not, you need to get over your fear of change. Or maybe you need to get over your fear of Pearson...? Bit pedantic Babs if that's all you have got you should not have bothered. It changes nothing of what I said. It does, you're trying to make our second half look worse than it actually was.
flowwolf Posted 16 May 2013 Posted 16 May 2013 Or maybe you need to get over your fear of Pearson...? It does, you're trying to make our second half look worse than it actually was. I can make two wins out of sixteen look worse than it actually was .
Babylon Posted 16 May 2013 Posted 16 May 2013 Ok Babs I see what you mean, but there was two difinative styles of football played this season and the minute we stopped playing football and resorted to Kasper kicking it into the air in the hope Wood would get onto the end of it is where it all started to go wrong. I'm with you, I have concerns myself about Pearson as I've stated more than once since the start of Feb. He's scraped into the minimum I expected by the skin of his teeth. There are positives and negatives surrounding him staying or going. I can make two wins out of sixteen look worse than it actually was . You can if you say 16 games is half a season, when in fact it's a third.
Guest Col city fan Posted 16 May 2013 Posted 16 May 2013 Christ! There have been so many Pearson in/out threads and so many different views! It's doing mi head in.... How about this? With the managerial merry-go-round that usually happens in the summer eg. Will Brighton keep Poyet? Who's gonna go to Everton? Will Wigan retain their manager? Etc etc I ask you this question: Do you think that Pearson will WANT to stay at City? Do you think any other clubs will come in for him? He's pretty much respected amongst other managers and clubs I believe? Rather than should we get rid or keep Pearson, what about asking the question of will he want to stay? Just thought I'd throw it out there...
Manwell Pablo Posted 16 May 2013 Posted 16 May 2013 Can we have one Fcking thread that is about something other than Nigel Fcking Pearson. PLEASE
