biggs Posted 14 May 2013 Posted 14 May 2013 Pearson was great till end of January then he was crap. The players shouldn't accept any responsibility for what happened before or after January. Woods was a godsend for a couple of weeks then turned to crap. Pearson's fault....couldn't be anything else. In the end we were a pk away from Wembley and 6th in a whacked out division where any team could beat another on any given day. Changing managers will only guarantee this site will be calling for a new one by October. why not, It's proved so successful in the past few years.

For Forest? For Leeds? 2 out of the first three will be in the Prem next season with their relatively new managers and the second three and the one who misses out from the first will be bang up the top of the Championship next season IMO........ maybe our stable manager will join them but I have my doubts

Might need to hire a trauma specialist or a high profile therapist to sort this lot out.
Large Frank Posted 14 May 2013 Posted 14 May 2013 He has to go. Having built a side that looked capable of gaining automatic promotion around the turn of the year and then to follow it up with a long run of form that was more akin to being relegated has placed a huge question mark against Pearson's ability to organise and motivate. I think arguments of creating stability are a nonsense if that stability is simply creating a disappointing and mediocre outcome. We are all disappointed and what we have seen throughout much of the season, with exceptions, has been mediocre.
crisp monster Posted 14 May 2013 Posted 14 May 2013 My concern is when the chips were down NP and his team didn't have the answers. Maybe if he can ship a few out and strengthen a bit it might work out but does anyone on here think he'll be able to outwit McCarthy,Adkins, McDermott, Freedman,Zola(possible)Poyet and quite a few other decent ones in a tight game? Ive always backed him but I'm only just about on his side.

dmayne7 Posted 14 May 2013 Posted 14 May 2013 Of all the myths that get spouted about Nige it is actually this one that pisses me off the most. They finished behind us after we started with Sousa and were bottom after 9 games......that is not a rebuild its a disaster and Nige presided over it - he virtually destroyed what was left after the Premier League and was struggling in his next season as well - I reckon they lost 2 seasons purely down to his mismanagement (sound familiar) and lo and behold after changing after Barmby (so 3 managers in 3 years) they got promoted automatically so no thanks to Nige but they are in the Premier League - build a team my arse....... This is some of your best work my friend. How much do you actually know about the state Hull were in? Very little I would suggest. I was living in Hull when Pearson was around so I heard a lot more about it and I'll tell you something; its a miracle that they didn't do a Wolves. They were in a dire state. Internal strife mixed with financial meltdown and throw in an ageing, overpaid squad. He did wonders to that football club and the Hull fans have finally started to appreciate that. Of course it wasn't him who got them promoted but its largely the squad he put together and they were on course for promotion when he was there until Barmby took over. The best myth is without a doubt, that he can't handle big players with big egos. Tell me something; what has happened to all the great players that he has fallen out with? None of them have gone on to achieve anything. Maybe he simply knows a dead horse when he sees one. Is he the right man for us going forward? Who knows. Time will answer that if he stays but its very naive to not look at the good groundwork he has done. He should have done better this year, no question, but I'll forever hold him in high esteem for getting this club back on track.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 15 May 2013 Posted 15 May 2013 I've watched us for 35 years or so and I've seen Heskey and Lineker come through. I've also seen a lot more of the likes of Buchanan and Peake who looked as if they would be a success and didn't. What happened to all those kids that Thracian used to rave about? When you think of the number of young players coming into the game and then look at how many actually retire from the game you'll see that the majority, the vast majority, don't succeed as footballers. I'm inclined to think that we do have some decent young players at the club but for some reason most have got poorer as the season gas gone on, James is the obvious exception to this. You now have to ask why they have got poorer, had they overachieved earlier in the season or have they been managed poorly? Good question Hackers

Unlucky against Zola Has beaten McDermott before.

ozleicester Posted 15 May 2013 Author Posted 15 May 2013 if a great first half of the season... is a reason to keep, then.... a crap second half of the season... is a reason to sack? BUT The table NEVER lies, you always finish where you deserve after 40+ games. We finished in the playoffs and whilst i wouldve liked to get an auto promotion, i dont think thats an expectation i (or many others) had at the beginning of the season. If you make the playoffs, its a lottery, eg, a penalty scored = possible promotion, missed = season over We played some good football, we played some shit. I dislike the public persona that NP displays, he appears petulant and a whiney little fvck sometimes, but he got my club to the playoffs and if he can do that, and a little better next year, ill support him.
MPH Posted 15 May 2013 Posted 15 May 2013 I'm even torn on the 'excitement' thing mate. Some of the games this season under Pearson have been brilliant haven't they? Only a week or so ago we beat Forest, at their place, with a 91st minute winner! Earlier in the season we were cruising.. And I mean cruising... Then, other games have been utter, utter dog shite... It's been a weird season mate, But I'm sticking with my 'two-year plan'. Nige had mess to clear up from Sven, wages to bring down and all that... And some big characters to manage. Now he gets one more season, from me, to show us what he can really do. If he fails again (remember, by his OWN admission), then ill be wanting a change. Co-incidentally, I could be wrong, but I've always thought the Thais would give him two full seasons too. If he stays, how we start next season will be key. I'm pretty much where you are. I have backed him all the way.. I really hope this close season He gets rid of some of the deadwood. It will be interesting to know what he could do with even HALF the money the deadwood are using up.. But after they have left. He's got no excuses to hide behind. he MUST deliver.
Cafox1970 Posted 15 May 2013 Posted 15 May 2013 Don't like NP, I think he lacks tactical knowledge. I don't think he has the ability to manage established star players and I don't think LCFC will succeed in the long term with him. BUT he should stay until the end of next season because at the moment that it was is best for Leicester City Football Club and that's what matters most.

Blue Peter Posted 15 May 2013 Posted 15 May 2013 He should definitely stay. Stability is the key to any business and he has shown that he can motivate young players. Yes we still need some depth and bringing in a few players with experience would help; I am sure he has plans for this. However, most of the senior players at the club have not helped to 'steady the ship', they have shown arrogance and no desire to put the shirt on and play for the club. The only players to do this have been King, Nugent and Morgan, who have brought the team within a penalty kick of the play-offs. Pearson will gain promotion next year. Everyone was talking about us doing a Reading, but actually they have shown that they were not ready for the next step.
FrankieADZ Posted 15 May 2013 Posted 15 May 2013 stay, think he's doing a decent job on and off the pitch personally. yeah we had a wobble...so did MON when he was here,
bexs2011 Posted 15 May 2013 Posted 15 May 2013 Rumour has it that he will not be here by the end of the week! Nothing confirmed yet

Guest Posted 15 May 2013 Posted 15 May 2013 If we get rid for me we need somebody like Poyet, maybe Mowbray or Freedman. Unless we spend some dollar like Hull did with Bruce (which to be honest I didn't like the sound of so what do I know)
