Father Ted Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 Can you stop hiding behind the 'we were poor for the last 1/3rd of the season? A run in which we beat Blackburn, Bolton and Forest, gained creditable points at Cardiff, Brighton and Palace (all matches in which our performances deserved victories) and other matches like Millwall (when Wes was sent off), Peterborough, Blackpool and Birmingham in which we could have easily gained more points. From that run alone, and I believe with more LUCK, we would have had 13 more points. I genuinely believe this season has been cursed and was never meant to be and the events on Sunday really did sum up our season. We have certainly lost more points than we have deserved to get in comparison to the amount we have 'smash and grabbed'. What are you on about 'Knocky took about a million off his valuation with that penalty miss'? How will a penalty miss determine how much a player is worth? Oh, David Beckham missed a penalty for England at the World Cup, he's only worth £25m now instead of £30m.. bore off you disabled. Wes is 29, not heading towards his 'mid-30s'. You will never know how much players have been bought for as fees are often undisclosed but there's a lot of speculation. Some say Knockaert was bought for £500k, other anything up to £2.4million. I'm almost certain that it's the lesser. You state Drinkwater, Vardy and Marshall. Let's not forget here Drinkwater's form in the first half of the season in which he was the catalyst to us becoming a Top 2 side at the time, his form dipped and he looked tired. Fortunately, a return of Matty James to fitness was a saviour. Vardy has been shattered by a lot of unfair criticism - largely by idiots like you. I will continue to say that it is no coincidence that we played some of our best football with Vardy in the side when we were FIRST in the league. He may not have contributed much in terms of goals, but his work rate and energy offered a lot to the TEAM and he often found himself in good positions but his finishing let him down and had he had more of a sustained run, I was certain the goals would have begun to flow. Unfortunately, an injury came for him at the wrong time. As for Marshall, well, he's been ruined by having to cover Konchesky for most of the season and the poor lad has suffered.
Harry - LCFC Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 I actually think it's incorrect to say we were poor for a third of the season. For me it was only 11 games. It's unfair on the players and their manager to include the final six where we picked up nine points against teams who were all in the top half of the table. Had we played like that for the full season we'd have been comfortably in the play offs. Far from poor in my view.
Mark_w Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 Give it a rest mate please it's getting far to much now, every post I read of yours I just think 'take your tongue out of his arse even just a little bit please.' No.
Carl the Llama Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 I remember when this topic got started. The anti-Pearsonites were very vocal at the time and FT as a whole was a rather hostile place with lots of stupid arguments - this poll restored my faith in our fans. Thanks, Oz.
Fox in the North Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 I didn't want him and his turgid football back at the club and nothing that he did last season changed my mind. This season when we played it on the floor and took the game to the opposition I thought that perhaps he'd learnt and moved forward as a manger, then for some reason he reverted to defending first and the sparkle disappeared. The last 18 games or so have been dreadful and we've gone backwards as a team, yes they've looked up for it again in the last few games but something is still clearly wrong. The team, let alone the squad is clearly not good enough and changes need to be made so the argument over a new manager bringing in new players is redundant. He's bought in Morgan but we seem unable to attract any other experienced players when the team was screaming out for an experienced midfielder and defender. There never appear to be a number of better managers available, strange that, I wonder why? What do other clubs do about that, perhaps they let the current manager go and better managers suddenly make themselves known as being available? The high turnover of managers over the last few years is of no importance, in the main they were dogshit and should have gone earlier, why worry about mistakes made in the past, perhaps the next manager will move us on, perhaps he won't but I have no confidence in Pearson being able to do it. Time to go Have we though, just how many new players do we need? First team: Probably a goalie New left back Plenty have moaned about De Laet New Centre Half At least one new midfielder One wide man A striker As for the rest of the squad well it is small and I don't see any game changers on there but we need as a minimum Cover for goalie Cover for left back Centre half 2-3 midfielders wide man 2 strikers There is a lot of rebuilding to do. Some mares from HackneyFox Reading never sacked McDermott after there playoff final defeat. Cardiff never sacked Mackay after there playoff semi final defeat. Keep Pearson let him clear the deadwood, bring in another 3/4 players and let him have another crack at it again. This. The force is strong with this one! Yes, stop using one of the worst runs in our whole history as a football club as a reason to not believe in the manager. Get behind him. Sing happy songs and clap along. Everything is fine and big Nige is the only way forward. Some people just aren't happy with Championship football. Tossers. Big Nige was definitely the way forward
