Beckham next England Manager?

I'd have thought you'd get it more than most.

Wales' 2 best managers in the last 25 years have had no previous managerial experience, being Speed and Hughes.

It seems to be a totally different game at international level.

Both very intelligent, very analytical individuals. In the case of Speed, a legend leading young boys, easily inspired and handled.

I don't buy in to the stereotypical view of Beckham as completely unintelligent but nor does he strike me as any kind of footballing genius. He can spot a pass, that doesn't make him a great thinker. Even as a captain he's been the sort of player to simply lead by example as opposed to by direction.

England have higher hopes than Wales, they've also got a team full of highly paid Premiership stars. They need proper management, not some celebrity cheerleader who's only criteria for the job is his image.

Beckham was a good player but he's a cult of personality that far exceeds his ability. I felt Waddle was a little clumsy with his delivery earlier in the week but he wasn't far off the mark.

Don't be ridiculous. You're not honestly telling me that everything Jose has done in management wouldn't help him on the international stage?

Well Captain Pancake Face is telling us that everything Redknapp, Allardyce, Bruce, Pardew, Holloway, Pearce, Hughton, Adkins have done in management wouldn't help them on the international stage.

...You're both wrong then...

Why would Hughton take the job given his international career with Republic of Ireland?

It is a very different game, and I didn't include Pearce in that as he has international experience, and is probably the best candidate for the job.

Ability at club level is no guarantee of success at international level, even the special one or sir Alex could be shit international managers.

The point I'm trying to make is that it is not as ridiculous as it sounds, if Beckham was paired up with someone like Ray Wilkins or David Platt, and the best coaches in England, or even Louis van Gaal or a Guus Hiddink he would probably do just as good a job as any of the 'outstanding' candidates for the job.

It is not that unusual at international level and we have already had a lot of examples of other countries doing it successfully, why not nothing else seems to work.

If not Beckham which other former, or soon to be former player do you think could step up and manager the national team? Shearer, despite his disastrous effort at Newcastle wouldn't be a bad shout, or maybe Scholes or a Neville.

Gary Neville and David Beckham dream team to takeover from Roy after 2014 world cup.

Why should Beckham get to manage England ahead of the likes of Redknapp, Allardyce, Holloway, Bruce and Pardew who have been managing for years?

The England managers job should be the goal of every young English manager starting out in the game.

We have to show them that it's achievable by appointing English managers who have proven themselves over the years.

Not by fast tracking famous ex-players who played for the national team but have done nothing as managers.

I know he's portrayed as some kind of childlike idiot (and not without reason), but when Beckham talks football, I've often thought that he knows what he's talking about. He clearly has a head for the game. However, he would still need to prove himself at club level and I'm pretty sure Mrs Becks would get in the way.

Why does he have to when many others haven't and gone on to have successful international careers?

One major tournament in and we're already talking about the next England manager. Dear me.

The next England manager will be Gary Neville put your money on it now.

Yes, and Rio Ferdinand will be his assistant - abusive language and arguments galore.
