Finnegan Posted 22 June 2013 Author Posted 22 June 2013 Folau North living up to the billing. Some great tries, albeit some shoddy tackling. Amazing save from Izzy for North.
leicsmac Posted 22 June 2013 Posted 22 June 2013 Fantastic match - such high intensity, but I've got to bring up the ref again. I'm sorry, but he's been fvcking awful.
purpleronnie Posted 22 June 2013 Posted 22 June 2013 I said we'd give a pen away in the last minute and lose, I was almost right, glad I wasn't. Shouldn't laugh but....
Vacamion Posted 22 June 2013 Posted 22 June 2013 Tried our best to chuck it at them. So lucky, Lions. Best two players on the pitch were Aussies, though. Phew...
Finnegan Posted 22 June 2013 Author Posted 22 June 2013 The ref had a good game, mostly. Few niggles I felt we were unlucky with but we have to admit our discipline needs work and get smarter at the breakdown for next week.
Finnegan Posted 22 June 2013 Author Posted 22 June 2013 Hahahaha!! George North responding to Will Greenwood about his try: "well it's called panic running really isn't it?"
Super_horns Posted 22 June 2013 Posted 22 June 2013 That was close - got lucky at the end when Beale missed those 2 kicks. Great try by North and Halfpenny kicked really well as usual. Are the Welsh claiming the victory!

Are the Welsh claiming the victory! An English friend of mine asked me that, I told him of course not, that's complete rubbish. ... we got some help from the Irish!
FoxyPV Posted 22 June 2013 Posted 22 June 2013 Lovely try from North. The Lions were lucky even the first half (before my phone's radio connection died). They'd have been a good bit behind if O'Connor had his kicking boots on. Halfpenny has kicked 23 from 24 on tour so far. Outstanding. At the end of the day, it's the result that matters

Only laughed for about a minute though before the AK reminiscences kicked in
Finnegan Posted 25 June 2013 Author Posted 25 June 2013 He's missed two now, yeah. You're going to get smashed tonight RooFox.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 25 June 2013 Posted 25 June 2013 He's missed two now, yeah. You're going to get smashed tonight RooFox. You really put ya balls on the line with that call
notnow john Posted 27 June 2013 Posted 27 June 2013 I can sort of understand Gatlands changes, apart from dropping Croft. If Lydiate is the best 7, fine play him but to drop a player who gives so many options,to make way for an out of sorts captain seems odd.
Finnegan Posted 27 June 2013 Author Posted 27 June 2013 Lydiate is a six, Warburton a seven. Lydiate has been brought in because he's a breakdown specialist. We weren't short of ball carriers against Aus but our discipline at the break of play was terrible. Lydiate is a lot more accurate in that department than Croft (as is Sam) and is playing well. Croft hasn't done anything wrong, it's just a tactical switch. I don't see the logic in bringing in Youngs to start, though, unless Phillips has a knock. He didn't have an amazing game last week but he terrifies the Aussies, always draws two defenders and Youngs is much better impact in the last thirty. Also not sure about Bowe. He's one of my favourite players but he's been injured and Cuthbert played well, so what does that say?
notnow john Posted 27 June 2013 Posted 27 June 2013 Philiips has a knee problem, they want him fully fit for third test but a great opportunity for Youngs. Seem to remember Lydiate keeping Warburton out of the Wales team or am I confused.
Finnegan Posted 27 June 2013 Author Posted 27 June 2013 You're probably confused, Warburton is versatile but they're essentially different positions. Our first choice back row is Lydiate 6, Warburton 7, Faletau 8. You may be thinking of Justin Tipuric who is also a 7 and had a fantastic 6N when Sam was injured.
Guesty Posted 27 June 2013 Posted 27 June 2013 I see the IRB have for the first time ever appealed against a not guilty citing. So Horwill is going to get pulled up for that stamp (but gets to play in the second test - and maybe even the third if the appeal still comes back as not guilty). Not surprised B Youngs has been brought in, Phillips had a bad game and their scrum-half ran their game and Youngs has beat him both times he's faced him in the past.
Staff Posted 27 June 2013 Posted 27 June 2013 Lydiate for Croft?! Is he carrying a knock? Because that is an awful decision
Finnegan Posted 27 June 2013 Author Posted 27 June 2013 If you take your Leicester head off for a minute then, really, it isn't. Croft's a tidy all rounder and he's done well so far but Lydiate is an absolute beast defensively and in and around the ruck. With respect, the last few times we've played you we've taken you to the cleaners in the pack.
