Kitchandro Posted 30 June 2013 Posted 30 June 2013 They're forwards. To me they're just attacking, creative midfielders who have a great goalscoring record. A forward is a striker or a second striker. Messi isn't restricted to playing behind the striker, he picks the ball up all over the place. Ronaldo often picks it up deep and out wide. Maradona was definitely a midfielder. Lovely result. Couldn't have happened to a more despicable team. Except Portugal.
Amin Posted 30 June 2013 Posted 30 June 2013 Sublime display from Brazil. Great night to be a Brazil fan.
Kitchandro Posted 1 July 2013 Posted 1 July 2013 Brazil may have won this well but it doesn't change much, not by a long shot. After losing in against the US in the last confed cup they went on to win the main prize. That said the I'm really looking forward to see what will happen and fingers crossed there'll be a rematch! If these two meet in the latter stages of the world cup it could go on to be one of the classic encounters. Especially if Brazil play as they did tonight. Cannot wait for June 2014.
Sexual Posted 1 July 2013 Posted 1 July 2013 Brazil have won the FIFA Confederations Cup for the 3rd time in a row!
Jaspa Posted 1 July 2013 Posted 1 July 2013 This competition has exeeded expectations Tonight, I think there were some very intesting things that went down. I think Spain doubted themselves, whether brought on by the atmosphere, the team they were up against or whatever. I think Brazil where hugely pushed, influenced and spirited through their supporters and their general outlook. Spain has some big problems too by the look of it. They started the tournement their sharp and dominant selves but ended it being hung, drawn and quartered. I dont know if Fabregas was lost to injury but I think he was a loss, I dont like Biscuits but I think having him at the base of their midfield isnt the way to go, as soo as I saw the teamsheet I hmmmm'ed about Ramos at CB and Ive never rated/liked Arbaloa and on his day Alba can be a liability; so I had some doubts but I expected something from Spain still. Its going to be a huge job for The Boss to fix, the South American weather could be a huge contributing factor next years World Cup and most teams will probably struggle. Brazil were very impressive, they will be a force next year for sure; but I think they could be vunerable if they get paired against someone their fans wont be fully motivated for, mixed with some bad luck and a below (current) par standard performence. Straight out the blocks tonight again and I thought the atmosphere was entirely their way, everything seemed to click with the tensions in the country and with Brazil being Brazilian it all fell into place. Very good tournement again though, cant wait for the WC2014
Bert Posted 1 July 2013 Posted 1 July 2013 This is getting very childish from Spain Because they're very bad losers.
MC Prussian Posted 1 July 2013 Posted 1 July 2013 Because they're very bad losers. Spain hadn't lost in 29 competitive games before the Confederations Cup final - obviously, they'd forgotten how it feels. It was about time they were brought back down to earth, though.
martyn Posted 1 July 2013 Posted 1 July 2013 ****ing love Lawro ! Completely intolerable last night to the point of muting.

MC Prussian Posted 1 July 2013 Posted 1 July 2013 Didn't mean it quite so literal, but more as when things aren't always going their way. Well, at one point, Spain will have to change their style of play. Xavi, Iniesta, Xabi Alonso as well as David Villa, Casillas, Sergio Lopez and Victor Valdez won't stick around for more than, say, four years. No idea how they'll replace their aging stars. It's going to take Del Bosque a while to find out what it feels to play with a proper striker again - Soldado, Llorente and Torres will rejoice!
Swalker Posted 1 July 2013 Posted 1 July 2013 I reckon brazil and Italy have showed how you can beat Spain. Brazil truly deserve the win in the final. World Cup looks exciting with brazil, Spain, Germany and possibly Italy all in with good shouts of winning and the dark horse aswell! Can see England really struggling unless we make a massive change and stop trying to copy Spain and play the English way! Have to say though Brazil may have won the confederations cup but the true winners IMO were Tahiti!! But the dark side was definitely the riots which need addressing before the World Cup

I'd say taking a look in the all-conquering U21 squad that is packed full of top-flight players would be a start.
Manwell Pablo Posted 1 July 2013 Posted 1 July 2013 Messi, Maradona and Ronaldo aren't midfielders. Zidane is probably the closest you'll get Good as he is at what he does, There have been plenty better.
Sexual Posted 4 July 2013 Posted 4 July 2013 The 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup should serve as some added motivation for Spain until they play in Brazil next for the 2014 World Cup.
MC Prussian Posted 4 July 2013 Posted 4 July 2013 Really? I'd say taking a look in the all-conquering U21 squad that is packed full of top-flight players would be a start. Well, I haven't seen or heard that much from them yet. Excuse my ignorance. I'm intrigued to find out how they're adapting to playing on the (slightly) bigger scale - and in what system/formation. All I hope is that we're no longer held captive by the insanely boring 4-6-0 that Del Bosque implemented in the past 5, 6 years.
Pride_Of_The_Midlands Posted 7 July 2013 Author Posted 7 July 2013 Who do you guys wanna see at the 2017 Confederations Cup? And will it be as good as 2013? I would like to see: Russia - 2018 World Cup hosts England - 2014 World Cup winners South Korea Jamaica Argentina New Caledonia Belgium Ghana
Jordan Posted 7 July 2013 Posted 7 July 2013 Who do you guys wanna see at the 2017 Confederations Cup? And will it be as good as 2013? I would like to see: Russia - 2018 World Cup hosts England - 2014 World Cup winners South Korea Jamaica Argentina New Caledonia Belgium Ghana Considering Jamaica didn't even qualify for the 2013 Gold Cup, and could well miss out on the 2015 version, you might want to amend this a little. May I suggest Trinidad & Tobago instead?
