StanSP Posted 27 June 2013 Posted 27 June 2013 Spain played much better again without the striker! Italy will be kicking themselves after the 1st half domination. Quality penalties but one was always going to miss - was it a defender as well? Yeah, Leonardo Bonucci.

Quality penalties but one was always going to miss - was it a defender as well? whats your point. spain sent pique and ramos up in the 1st 5 both scored. can you imagine us sending lescott and cahill?
Jordan Posted 28 June 2013 Posted 28 June 2013 Italy did quite well today. They (and the heat) successfully caused Spain to wilt somewhat. As such, Spain weren't working as hard as they normally do to win the ball back so Italy had a lot more of the ball than one would have guessed. Spain were certainly frustrated, and I'm not sure if sending Pique and Ramos on runs forward (and play Martinez up front for a few minutes!) was clever total football, desperation, or a way to give Spain's more advanced players a breather. One would think that if Italy knew beforehand that they'd keep Spain off the scoreboard, they'd like their chances. That if they held a clean sheet for 120 minutes, they'd be thrilled. And if they then scored six penalties in a row, they'd be planning for the final! This can be a cruel game. This wasn't vintage Spain, but even on an off day, they're still Spain. How do you knock Spain out a major tournament? It's funny you should ask... (I just cannot resist bringing this up any chance I get.)
Super_horns Posted 28 June 2013 Posted 28 June 2013 whats your point. spain sent pique and ramos up in the 1st 5 both scored. can you imagine us sending lescott and cahill? None really - good point though.
Jimothy Posted 28 June 2013 Posted 28 June 2013 It's funny you should ask... (I just cannot resist bringing this up any chance I get.) He said major tournament.
Bobby Hundreds Posted 28 June 2013 Posted 28 June 2013 Last night's match was the first match I've seen this tournament, and it very much reminded me that international football is bobbins. I didn't think it was at all possible for Spain to be any duller but they proved me wrong again.
MC Prussian Posted 28 June 2013 Posted 28 June 2013 The truth about Neymar's dive of the century against Uruguay (in German, but the video on its own will do the trick, too): http://www.schleckysilberstein.com/2013/06/die-wahrheit-uber-neymars-vermeintliche-jahrhundertschwalbe/
MC Prussian Posted 28 June 2013 Posted 28 June 2013 Are we complaining about diving again Quick, somebody propose a player swap with Barcelona. Neymar for Knocky - deal!
StanSP Posted 28 June 2013 Posted 28 June 2013 Are we complaining about diving again I know it was equally bad that Knockaert dived, but I don't see why it should stop us from moaning or complaining about other players still diving.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 28 June 2013 Posted 28 June 2013 I really Hope Brazil win the final Not likely I know but im still hoping Its boring for football Spain winning everything

Soar Fox Posted 28 June 2013 Posted 28 June 2013 It's been quite a decent tournament too! Last nights game was the dullest so far by a long way.[/quote Know coincidence that it involved Spain.
Amin Posted 29 June 2013 Posted 29 June 2013 I actually thought it was a good game. Italy pushed Spain all the way.
Danizen Posted 29 June 2013 Posted 29 June 2013 Are we complaining about diving again We have the right to be myopic and biased. Especially when it comes to Knocky.
whoareyaaa Posted 30 June 2013 Posted 30 June 2013 late kick off tonight might stay up and watch it may as well, hope Brazil beat them.
Jordan Posted 30 June 2013 Posted 30 June 2013 late kick off tonight might stay up and watch it may as well, hope Brazil beat them.I, too, hope Brazil win, but I can see Spain finding loads of space between the forwards and midfield and between the midfield and defense of Brazil. I can honestly see Spain winning something like 4-1.

Don't think they will score 4 myself, I think it will be a tight game although Brazil will come out and attack, if Neymar is on form then can see them winning. 3-2
AKCJ Posted 30 June 2013 Posted 30 June 2013 Is the 3rd place playoff not on the tv? I saw it on the BBC website, so I went to watch it on the tele but it appears it's only on the web.
Amin Posted 30 June 2013 Posted 30 June 2013 Is the 3rd place playoff not on the tv? No, only online.
VinceNoir Posted 30 June 2013 Posted 30 June 2013 Anyone watching? A couple of cracking FK's by Diamanti and Cavani.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 30 June 2013 Posted 30 June 2013 It is on the TV if you have Freesat, Virgin Media and Freeview (a compatible box that can pick up channel 303). The BBC pulled the game from their red button on Sky at the last minute. Whether it was genuine or whether it's to do with their ongoing feud with Sky over the red button I don't know.
Jordan Posted 30 June 2013 Posted 30 June 2013 Anyone watching? A couple of cracking FK's by Diamanti and Cavani. Cavani struck it well, but his shot wasn't anywhere near the near post and Buffon really should have done better. That was actually the 2nd DFK that Buffon misplayed in this tournament, which is a bit odd. The game went more or less like how 3rd place matches usually go. Loads of chances for both teams. as for the PKs, let's just say some of the Uruguayan efforts weren't quite on the standard Spain set in the semifinal.
