Wymsey Posted 12 June 2013 Posted 12 June 2013 I reckon Brazil will clinch it off Spain in the final.
Jordan Posted 12 June 2013 Posted 12 June 2013 Ah, the Confederations Cup... Last time around, there was a 225-minute stretch where the United States was the best team in the world. They hammered Egypt 3-0, stunned Spain 2-0 and were up 2-0 vs Brazil at halftime... I don't recall what happened next, though. Spain is the favorite until anybody proves otherwise. I wonder if 2nd place in that group will come down to whoever scores more goals vs Tahiti. Brazil will be under lots of pressure, but I think they will be fine. Frankly, that team needs to play in some sort of competition just to get a feel for competition again. As for Mexico, Chepo de la Torre is probably managing for his job, unfair as that may be.
Jordan Posted 12 June 2013 Posted 12 June 2013 Thanks for letting me know. BTW, Finn, do you think Chepo deserves to be on the hot seat?
Finnegan Posted 12 June 2013 Posted 12 June 2013 One win in six in a group that includes Costa Rica, Jamaica, Panama and Honduras and is lead by you lot? I understand they're not as strong as they used to be but that's got to be disappointing form for a nation used to being CONCACAF's World Cup hope.
MC Prussian Posted 12 June 2013 Posted 12 June 2013 Uruguay, my dark horse. As always. Love them and always will. Hoping for an upset.

I understand they're not as strong as they used to be but that's got to be disappointing form for a nation used to being CONCACAF's World Cup hope. It's poor form, but they have no losses and aren't in that much trouble. They will probably still be in the top 3 after next Tuesday's games. Mexico could certainly be in a better position, and they have looked impotent in front of goal lately, but I dont think it's necessary to panic.Let's not forget that Mexico are playing in the Confederations Cup thanks to their 2011 Gold Cup win under Chepo, where they destroyed the USA in the final (how we were leading 2-0, I'll never know, because Mexico ripped us apart that night). Also, Mexico did win the Olympics gold medal in 2012, with Luis Tena at the helm (brought in when Chepo took over in 2011). That should buy him at least a little time and respect.
Guest Bilo Posted 12 June 2013 Posted 12 June 2013 Spain v Tahiti is the biggest game of the group stage.
Manwell Pablo Posted 13 June 2013 Posted 13 June 2013 Not a massive fan of this Brazil team, home advantage could help them though. Think Italy could still pip them to 1st place in the group.
HEGGSY Posted 13 June 2013 Posted 13 June 2013 Watching purely because I need some type of football fix
21st Century Fox Posted 14 June 2013 Posted 14 June 2013 The Guardian's Football Weekly are doing daily coverage of this
Jordan Posted 14 June 2013 Posted 14 June 2013 Unless your nation is in it.....You're not the least bit interested to see just how Spain vs Tahiti will turn out? Seriously, though, this tournament can boast a solid field, and as such, I'll watch it.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 15 June 2013 Posted 15 June 2013 Watching tonight. Was entertaining in 2009, with USA losing the first two group games, but still getting out of the group with a massive goal swing also involving Italy. Then they dicked Spain and were doing Brazil too until it went pear shaped! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_FIFA_Confederations_Cup
Pride_Of_The_Midlands Posted 15 June 2013 Author Posted 15 June 2013 I like Japan but I don't want teams with foreign managers to do well. Dilemma...
Jimothy Posted 15 June 2013 Posted 15 June 2013 I know it's only just started but what a weird kick off. None of the Brazil players looked like they wanted the ball, they all looked really uneasy. The right back took a really bad touch, even Luiz looked lost, the Caesar had about 4 touches. Really odd. And the commentary is ahead of the pictures. He screamed hit by Neymar before the ball was even at his feet.
Rincewind Posted 15 June 2013 Posted 15 June 2013 Only just switched it on missed the goal. only just switched it on as they mentioned the on goal line technology.
AKCJ Posted 15 June 2013 Posted 15 June 2013 Just seen the goal. Superb. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qc7kCAvg5tQ
AKCJ Posted 15 June 2013 Posted 15 June 2013 Alan Shearer really is the pits when it comes to 'expert analysis'. Hasn't got a clue.
