He is believed to be quitting to take up a senior executive role at Leicester City. That leaves Stoke having two major vacancies to fill in their Academy following the recent departure of Dave Kevan as under-21 coach. Robinson departs after playing a significant role in Stoke qualifying for the coveted Category One Academy status last season. That increases the club's ability to recruit youngsters from further afield at a time when the club's owners are demanding more return from their multi-million pound investment in youth development at Stoke City. Robinson, a former chairman of Bury and Sheffield United, is believed to be part of a major shake-up behind the scenes at Leicester ahead of the new season.
LeicesterAreGoingUp Posted 17 June 2013 Posted 17 June 2013 John percy just tweeted he thinks he's gonna be dir. Of football and have a new chairman. Good or bad?
Lcfclee Posted 17 June 2013 Posted 17 June 2013 If there is going to be a new chairman is this the beginning of the Thais moving out ???

Oh what a beautiful morning...Oh what a beautiful day! Clown shoes to go by the weekend...everything's going my way!
Cropwellfox Posted 17 June 2013 Posted 17 June 2013 John percy just tweeted he thinks he's gonna be dir. Of football and have a new chairman. Good or bad? Who knows - might explain the radio silence since the end of the season though
Fox92 Posted 17 June 2013 Posted 17 June 2013 Not sure what to say really. I hope the Thais aren't moving out, and surely they wouldn't yet considering how much they've put into the club. ? Only one thing for it, Football Forum tonight isn't it
Dickov22 Posted 17 June 2013 Posted 17 June 2013 Pearson will not like a Director of football one bit
indierich06 Posted 17 June 2013 Posted 17 June 2013 If there is going to be a new chairman is this the beginning of the Thais moving out ??? Nope, maybe they've just realised it might be a good idea to have some people who know about football on the board. A major shake-up?? There is renewed hope!! Oh what a beautiful morning...Oh what a beautiful day! Clown shoes to go by the weekend...everything's going my way! Yeah, that's exactly what's going to happen. They've not sacked him for about two months because they were waiting for Terry Robinson to come in from Stoke first.
nickyboy Posted 17 June 2013 Posted 17 June 2013 Either they are bringing in people at the top who are football people to improve the football decisions required, or some people's on here fears are coming true From the statements made in the past from the Thais including at the end of the season I am going to take the former of my thoughts
Callabinho Posted 17 June 2013 Posted 17 June 2013 New chairman as well according to Rob Tanner. That is very interesting........
TrentFox Posted 17 June 2013 Posted 17 June 2013 New chairman as well according to Rob Tanner. That is very interesting........ My money is on it not being overly interesting or dramatic. Probably someone from within the KP group ?
flowwolf Posted 17 June 2013 Posted 17 June 2013 I don't think Nigel will survive this upheaval because a new broom sweeps clean. At last a bit of excitement and a new manager to look forward to. :scarf:
Leicester_Numan Posted 17 June 2013 Posted 17 June 2013 If there is going to be a new chairman is this the beginning of the Thais moving out ???It's more than likely just Top taking over the running of the club while his dad runs the business. I'm hoping that Robinson is a senior exec and not director of football, that almost never ends well
Callabinho Posted 17 June 2013 Posted 17 June 2013 I think the it's because the Thais want a more "football wise man" sitting on the pile.
Babylon Posted 17 June 2013 Posted 17 June 2013 "Robinson, formerly chairman of Bury F.C., joined the board of Sheffield United in 2002, and succeeded outgoing chairman Derek Dooley in May 2006.[2] He represented the Football League on the Football Association (FA) Council, and less than two months after Sheffield United's promotion to the Premier League, was named as one of the four Premier League representatives on the FA Council. One of his tasks as a member of the panel was to ensure a smooth implementation of the recommendations of the Burns Report, a structural review of the FA.[3] In August 2008 he was appointed chairman of the FA Cup committee.[4] In February 2008, Sheffield United plc chairman Kevin McCabe bought into the Hungarian club Ferencváros. Robinson stepped down as chairman of Sheffield United, while remaining as a director, to assume a new role as Ferencváros' president.[5][6] He joined Stoke City in June 2011 taking the position of Academy Director.[7] He left Stoke in June 2013.[8]"
fosseman Posted 17 June 2013 Posted 17 June 2013 It's interesting but I don't know what to think whether it's good or bad.
tomtom Posted 17 June 2013 Posted 17 June 2013 Andrew Neville for the chop with Robinson taking his place???
Babylon Posted 17 June 2013 Posted 17 June 2013 Why does someone have to lose their job? People have been whining about the people at the top not being football people, perhaps, just perhaps, they have realised that they do actually need football people around them day to day. Especially when we have a huge job on our hands financially this year.
StanSP Posted 17 June 2013 Posted 17 June 2013 There's so much jumping to conclusions here it's stupid. Why can't people just wait and see what happens. It's not like any of us can do anything about it.

Babylon Posted 17 June 2013 Posted 17 June 2013 This is true.... But, say Pearson gets the bullet, you'd think Robinson would have a big say on a new appointment. Just can't see him getting sacked, utterly pointless to do something like that now with preseason now less than a month away.
Bert Posted 17 June 2013 Posted 17 June 2013 Just can't see him getting sacked, utterly pointless to do something like that now with preseason now less than a month away. Oh, I don't mean now, say 15 games in etc.

Especially when we have a huge job on our hands financially this year. Because they possibly see Neville as a big part of the reason we're in the difficult financial position we're in , was it not him who sanctioned the big contracts and wages given out???
