flowwolf Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 If you didn't turn everything into an anti Pearson thread I wouldn't be bored. Oy that's my job !
flowwolf Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 I think the only mild concern would be Stokes less than stellar recruitment process. Their level of expediture was/is incredibly high yet the returns (like our own) are very meagre. I think a director of football is completely the right thing to do, let us hope he promotes and supports Pearson in a more fluid style of play (the very style Pearson deployed to great impact in the first half of the season). Or lets hope he gets rid of Pearson and gets someone in who knows how to play a fluid style ALL season and not bottle it and go back to what he knew best ---Hoof ball.

Burmesefox Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 That's the point that was argued, we haven't had enough quality coming through. I was disappointed when we released the likes of Kee, but what have the gone on too do? Nothing. Pearson gave Moore his debut, and Gradel as well (I think) and then picked Mattock and King regular (I know he didn't them debuts). Gradel wasn't good enough and was sold. Mattock wanted to leave, as did Stearman before him when Pearson first come in. Schlupp is usually included in the first team as well. I don't think Pearson is worse than any other manager for using his youth. Gradel was and is good enough. He featured prominently in a side that finished top 6 in France and is still on the radar of a few English and European clubs. Pearson should never have got rid.
CosbehFox Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 Tbf Stoke City as an academy is always in a tricky position as they compete with Crewe for the players in the area. Crewe's history for developing players makes them a big pull. But again we are appointing a bloke with career of Bury, Sheff United and Stoke. All three have huge debts and have been crippled by wages (or overpaying). Do the owners even do history checks?
Fox92 Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 Gradel was and is good enough. He featured prominently in a side that finished top 6 in France and is still on the radar of a few English and European clubs. Pearson should never have got rid. At the time though, he wasn't good enough. I said that on here that season. We were ok without him, and ended up making the play offs. He enjoyed a good spell at Leeds in League One, was sold, and performed well for them at this level. Pearson might think he should never have got rid, but managers do make mistakes. Look at Alex Ferguson and Pique.
MPH Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 Or lets hope he gets rid of Pearson and gets someone in who knows how to play a fluid style ALL season and not bottle it and go back to what he knew best ---Hoof ball. Pearsons interview in saying we were going ' back to basics came WAY after the slump in form had started.... But Don't let your hatred of Pearson cloud your judgement eh?

He didn't want to... he said in public that he didn't. The player wanted to leave though to a league one team as he stood more chance of game time (he didn't even win a starting place there for some time). Lets not forget we were top 2 or 3 in the championship when he left to Leeds on loan.

Dickov22 Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 Don't know him so can't hate him, though I loath his hoofball style of football and always will. Did you see us at Sheff Wed? Bham? Blackburn? Brighton? Huddersfield? Home to Ipswich? Huddersfield? I could go on. Admittedly we did resort to hoof ball when desperate, but up until February when it all went wrong I can honestly say its the best football I've seen from a Leicester side in years

From being a regular starter in the League 1 promotion season to frozen out. One day a book will be written and the victims of the Nigel cold should will be many!

Bayfox Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 I'm not sure 16 games is a particularly regular starter, scoring just one goal. Yeah but fcuk my. What a goal and at a point when we really looked like we may have a wobble and royally **** it up. That goal was massive.

Anyway it has just been on the news Robinson and Richards have both been appointed at the club.

Weren't we about 18 games unbeaten at that point? We were in no danger of screwing up. Granted it was a big goal but it was hardly season-defining.
Ric Flair Posted 19 June 2013 Posted 19 June 2013 Not wanting to be irritating but imagine if we had Knockaert and Gradel in the same team, it'd be unreal.
Chrysalis Posted 19 June 2013 Posted 19 June 2013 well the younger thai may still stay as vice chairman. I personally dont think they leaving, we also still have the same CEO. However this may be a sign they not going to focus as much as before.
flowwolf Posted 19 June 2013 Posted 19 June 2013 If we knew the answer to that we'd be managers wouldn't we. He did not know the answer and is still the manager.
Dickov22 Posted 19 June 2013 Posted 19 June 2013 He did not know the answer and is still the manager. Good. He's making us competitive, sorting our finances and signing proper footballers many of whom are an investment for the future- De Laet, James, Knockaert to name a few.

You must have missed the news we have now got someone in to sort out the finances, which in my opinion is good news it should not be up to a manager to do the finance. But I hope you are right only time and the next season will tell.

But I hope you are right only time and the next season will tell. Up until now Pearson has had the extra responsibility of trying to sort the finances out. Shouldn't be his job but he's helped by offloading wages eg Mills, Beckford, Bamba, Fernandes, Danns. His hands have been completely tied in terms of who he can sign because of the finances. In my opinion he's done a fantastic job all things considered. I for one am glad they've bought someone in to focus on this so now Pearson can soley focus on picking the team. After all, that's his job
