Guest Posted 24 June 2013 Posted 24 June 2013 Bit surprised at the lack of West Wing in here to be honest. I suppose there's been a hell of a lot of good TV since then though
sdb Posted 24 June 2013 Author Posted 24 June 2013 1) The Wire 2) Breaking Bad 3) The Office UK 4) Boardwalk/Sopranos 5) Simpsons/Neighbours circa 98 or whenever Tad and Billy were around and Karl was a top shagger. I bent the rules a bit to get more than five in. Come at me. amazing taste sir

lavrentis Posted 24 June 2013 Posted 24 June 2013 Can't believe Big Bang theory is getting in some people's lists, absolutely terrible show.
Tom17LCFC Posted 25 June 2013 Posted 25 June 2013 I want a new TV show to watch now, and I've narrowed it down to four. The Sopranos, The Wire, Lost or Generation Kill, thoughts??
Guest Posted 25 June 2013 Posted 25 June 2013 I want a new TV show to watch now, and I've narrowed it down to four. The Sopranos, The Wire, Lost or Generation Kill, thoughts?? The Wire first. I'd ignore Lost to be honest, mostly a waste of time.
Finnegan Posted 25 June 2013 Posted 25 June 2013 The Wire first. I'd ignore Lost to be honest, mostly a waste of time. The Wire is immense but be warned, it's a slow starter and a big commitment Definitely watch Gen Kill at some point though!
sdb Posted 25 June 2013 Author Posted 25 June 2013 Only problem with The Wire is that life will be downhill from there once completed.
Finnegan Posted 25 June 2013 Posted 25 June 2013 Aye and prepare to spend the rest of your TV watching life comparing everything to the Wire.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 25 June 2013 Posted 25 June 2013 If i ever was ever in a serious accident and my memory was wiped, i would consider it a positive so i could re-watch The Wire as if it was the first time.
Finnegan Posted 26 June 2013 Posted 26 June 2013 So I should watch the Wire then? Yes. Be patient with the first few episodes but otherwise, definitely. Literally perfect tv.

Finnegan Posted 26 June 2013 Posted 26 June 2013 Whatever happened with Heroes? I lost interest after first season or so. Just seemed to lose direction They dropped it. I thought S3 wasn't too bad, better than people made out. But then I preferred season 1 to 2 and most people I know disagreed with that too.

MikeyT Posted 26 June 2013 Posted 26 June 2013 I never understand why a show is cancelled after quite a few seasons. You spend years of your life watching it, only for the company to cancel it and you never find out how it all ended! Annoying! Case in point for me would be the show "Southland". Absolutely loved it. Season 5 ended with a huge cliffhanger and then a matter of days after, they announce it has been cancelled! Spent 5 years of my life watching it!!

You spend years of your life watching it, only for the company to cancel it and you never find out how it all ended! Annoying! The show becomes unprofitable, or viewing figures look like they will make the show unprofitable before too long. It is gutting though, I'm a big King of the Hill fan and it was cancelled by Fox. Then there was talks with a couple of other networks to bring it back, and shortly after Brittany Murphy died (voiced Luanne in the show) so it'll never happen now

Don't even get me started on this I'm currently fuming as they've done this to The Borgias. They plan a 4 season arc and then cancel it after 3. It's like buying a book and having the last few chapters torn out.
