Why do some people actually dislike Pearson as manager

Recommended Posts

Posted

Because he keeps his cards very close to chest and doesn't tell the fans what they want to hear!!

My real concern is does this guy have what it takes to succeed at this level?? only time will tell!!

Winning percentage: One of the best of all Leicester City managers.

Other credentials: Two playoff appearances, one League One title.

Oh, and said Ian Holloway managed to get one particular Championship club relegated for the first time in its history. I'll let you make a guess which one that was...

Holloway as won things in his career, Pearson as won division 3 and absolutely nothing else.

I won't forgive Holloway for getting us relegated, but he is ten times the manager than Pearson is. He got us relegated because he was too weak regarding MOF interference. Still not excusable.

Woohooo a League One title, Im overcome with respect.

Two play off semi final defeats, still the only manager in the Clubs history to f'ck it up at that stage, so poor he did it twice.

Holloway took us down and since that day has managed 2 top flight promotions. It wasnt until the last day of a 38 game day season he got relegated. Oh and he has also won 2 play off finals.

Yes, we are so lucky to have Nige

I can't see him managing us in the premiership either, he's like Warnock in that respect.

But, most of the rest of your post is entirely personal to you.

That's what you feel about him and fair enough, it's not required that you like him but what do you think it looks like when you post that kind of stuff?

What have you got between your ears ?

This was quite a good thread up until about a page ago with lots of good points from both sides of the Pearson divide. Lets see if I can get it back on track...

For me there are two main reason why a large section of fans don't like Pearson.

1) His media image. You can say its not important in the grand scheme of things but whenever the guy is interviewed he really is a charisma vaccum.  Now most football related interviewees never say much of note but with Pearson there really is nothing there, no passion, no wisecracking, little insight, no personality, just nothing.  The only real emotion he ever shows is annoyance when hes interviewed by Stringer (is annoyance an emotion??) which hardly makes him a likable figure. He probably is a great guy when you meet him but few of us ever have or will and are therefore left only with his miserable media image. So its not much wonder that he hasn't endeared himself to the fans.  Of course this REALLY wouldn't  matter if the results were good which leads me on to...

2) Average results.  Since he returned results overall for Pearson have been pretty average.  The 2/3 of a season he was in charge in 11/12 were almost the definition of mediocrity. The great football being served up by Svens team 12 months earlier had vanished almost completely and  It was quite painful to behold particularly after the optimism preseason and wasn't a great deal better than some of the mid naughties campaigns. The credit he regains with fans after a good first half of the season last year is largely wiped out by the dreadful results in the second leaving an overall season of average results made to look more impressive by a league even more mediocre than ever before!

And there you have it in my opinion. Improve his image and the teams results and Pearson may find he regains a few more fans!

A brain, maybe you should start using yours.

Just look at your post, you make claims and admit it can't be substantiated. Most of the crap posted about him can't be substantiated. It's all your personal opinion and personal feelings about him.

Is that really that difficult to understand?

Holloway won things in parts because other managers laid the foundations for his success with a squad that had already been assembled.

Talking funny stuff on TV alone and relying on other people's service doesn't suffice to be considered a great manager.

Right, this is where I stand regarding Pearson, just to eliminate any confusion.

Do I think he's done a good job of slashing the wage bill while remaining competitive? Yes

Could he have done things differently last season especially in the transfer market in January? Yes but that's easy to say in hindsight

Would I keep him for the entire season? Yes but due to size of his contract we have little choice, another financial masterstroke by the club

Would I offer him a new contract if we don't get promoted? Depends on how close we came but definitely not at a million a year and definitely not if we don't come close.

Do I think we'll make the play offs under Pearson? Yes

Do I think we'll get promoted? Jury is out on that one

Will he be here next season? I very much doubt it and I'd feel sorry for him as the situation we're in is not of his making

Do I see him as Leicester manager in the premiership if he does get us promoted? No

Is he the useless, square headed, badger faced, shit trainer wearing, player nutting buffoon that some people make him out to be? Absolutely not and that is just laughable

Have you only recently become a fan of the club?

"Amongst the worst we ever had"?

What like Taylor, Holloway and Sven??

3 managers who almost single handedly destroyed the football club, the fact you say he is worse than Sven is laughable because unless you're mistaken Pearson has had 3 full seasons here, and all have resulted in promotion or Play-offs. I dare say that if he had stayed at hull he would have been in the premier league right now.

To say he is biased towards his own players is also a myth. Has nugent not been his main striker since day one? Why hasn't he replaced Kasper? Why did he leave wellens and gally out of the side last year? Why sell gradel, a player who pearson was responsible for giving him his 'big chance'? Why did he continue to play fryatt and howard the season HE loaned in waghorn? Why did he drop Marshall, drinkwater and Vardy last season?

Yeovil have earned their right to play in the Championship, so did Peterborough before them (a side we and other "top teams" struggled against on numerous occasions). But thanks for chucking a random team name in.

It's the Championship and as last season proved, the difference between top and bottom sides has blurred even more.

And thank you for proving my point: For you and many other critics, it's not about whether Pearson is a good manager or not, it's about whether you like him or not. A completely irrational game of personal preference.

the same mc prussian who says holloway  was lucky to get two promotions to the prem, while nige has none.

who's talking about whether somebody is a good manager or not now versus whether you like him or not, hypocrite.

jesus h  christ you need to let it go, you're just making yourself look like an idiot.

i've already posted my sound rational  reasons previously.

you can  dare to say it, but the side that  got promotion under Bruce was rebuilt by him, and not in the slightest bit related to the side built by  pearson. do some research so  your opinion isn't laughed out of the room.

Talking about sound rational reasons and then calling others idiots doesn't sound rational to me, on the contrary.

I never before once mentioned that Holloway was lucky with both promotions - thanks for not quoting me correctly.

Then again, I didn't expect any different from someone who labels others "idiots" when challenged.

Thinking about it, Holloway was indeed both times lucky with Blackpool and Crystal Palace.

The chances of winning a playoff final are a sound 50%.

You are obviously  presumptuous, you are off the mark by a long way. l dont give two sh its about his personality. l don't like him because he is a terrible manager, amongst the worst we ever had.

l have no idea why some people try to make a case for him, mostly clueless people who can't see whats in front of them. He can't pick a team, he can't use substitutions to the teams advantage, he plays players out of position, he never gets the best out of any player, he turns decent players into rubbish, he doesn't know his best team, formation or players, he doesn't ever out think the opposition, he's rude, boring, arrogant. l've heard every excuse for the bloke and for me none stand up.

His first time here was some of the worst, boring soul destroying football we have ever produced. This nonsense about him saving us is unbelievable, winning the third division is not major plus, we shouldn't have been there and we had some bad performances with him continuing playing players who where hopeless, Oakley, Howard, Wellens.

He gets rid of any player who as any sort of personality, i've heard he's a bully, l can't confirm that but it looks like it could be the case. He got rid of players, just because they where Svens signings, he was trying to prove he was a better manager than Sven. In your dreams Nigel !

Can any of you honestly see him managing a Premiership side ?

most rational people will so no, so that in its self is enough to know he's not good for us going forward. He is a disaster but some idiots won't see it.

And those that don't like Pearson wonder why people just can't take you seriously? Constant over the top statements, insults thrown at him and anyone who actually thinks he's not one of the worst managers we've ever had.

Sousa, Megson, Sven, Levein, Pleat, Taylor, McLintock and yes Holloway to name just a few. Anyone trying to defend the clown for what he did here by pointing out what he did elsewhere is missing the point. That wasn't here, that was there, this is about worst managers for us.

He played Wellens out of position in League One... now that is clever considering he was playing for Doncaster then.

However, anyone who tends to be critical of Mr. P. are set upon with venom. I respond with the same, as that is only fair. The club will always be bigger than the individual,

Hundreds and thousands of posts on here being critical pass without comment or "venom". Funnily enough it only seems to be the ones from people that name call him or come out with the most ridiculous comments that draw a lot of attention. Which half of the time seems to be exactly what they are aiming for.
