He may have got his tactics wrong in one game (and not having his first choice strikers available didn't help), but he more than made up for it in the second leg. Getting your tactics wrong in one game doesn't mean you're going to get them wrong in every game of that nature as he has proved since. In fact it has shown that he's learnt from his mistakes. It's not even like we'd be talking about it for a second if the officials had done their job correctly in the second leg. That's right, always blame the officials. That's the oldest and weakest excuse ever.

The last I heard, was that Brighton had ,"upheld Poyet's dismissal" at their own Appeals Committee and that Gus, his Lawyers and the League Managers Association people, were considering an appeal to a, "higher body". I don't know who that could be - it won't be the FA, as it's an employment law matter - I guess it would be a Employment Tribunal? If they are appealing, Brighton won't have agreed any 'compo' yet. If it is does go to Tribunal, that would take a few weeks/months to sort out. That could tie-in with what Cuddly Ken is saying - ie the job has been offered to him, but he can't take it up yet until the Tribunal business is finalised (or compensation is agreed outside the Tribunal). In that case, Nige will probably have a couple of months to prove the doubters wrong - ie have us in the top 3 or 4. It's not Poyet! Pity as he would be a good option.

Success to me is not a League 1 title or scrapping play-offs when his budget was significantly bigger than anything Brian Little had, he really did achieve on a shoestring. MON half a season at this level and we got promoted. Little 3 seasons, 3 consecutive Wembley finals leading to promotion. Adams 1 season and automatic promotion. Pearson 4 seasons 2 play off semi final defeats and 2 mid table finishes. Still the only Leicester manager to lose a play off semi final game (twice) and the tie (twice). The football we play is turgid, but what I can't my head around is why 3 wins in 17 league games is just brushed off as a blip, it's a third of a season in relegation form. Again he demonstrated a huge yellow streak just like that Cardiff game, this time much earlier and for longer. He maneuvered in to a position to kick on for promotion and totally and utterly shat himself in public from February to May as we melted without so much as an idea as to how fix it. Also any manager that thinks Lloyd Dyer is a championship footballer is not worthy of being in charge of a club of this stature. He might be a lovely bloke and give his entire salary to a local hospice, I just think he's a dreadful football manager and we are consigned to more years at this level at best because of it.

I can see your points but: 1) Yes, Little achieved on a tiny budget. But, you can't keep going back into the past and constantly comparing managers from such different eras. Teams these days also have much bigger budgets than in the past, as does the whole of football. Are they also run by useless managers because they have more money than they used to and maybe don't achieve as much now? 2) Why is that a significant stat? Just because he's the only Leicester manager to do it doesn't mean much. The play offs are a lottery and to be basing stats on them isn't a solid thing to do. Holloway has got to three play off finals recently and won two. Yet, he took us down to league one... 3) Dyer might not be the most gifted player but the championship is certainly his level. There have been times where he has torn teams apart, and others where he hasn't been in the game. He is probably the championship personified (or championship teams personified) - glimpses of brilliance, massive inconsistency and when on form is pretty much unstoppable. To say Nigel is rubbish because he thinks Dyer is good enough at this level is really a very weak point.
