Why do some people actually dislike Pearson as manager

Recommended Posts

Is anyone calling for his head?

I think we're all pretty much accepting of the fact he has somewhere between 7 and 43 games ahead of him as Leicester City Manager.

If it were a sweepstake i'd take 12.

Yes, frequently.

I can count at least ten people in question.

On a platter?

I actually think seenitall would enjoy that.

Anything so he can watch us on Arabian TV sipping a nice Pinot munching on his frogs legs every weekend.

This is all pretty irrelevant as, even if Pearson fails spectacularly this season, he's unlikely to go IMHO. Why? Because while we're struggling to get rid of players on £1 million plus a year the Thais aren't then going to pay up the two years left on NP's contract - they can't afford it.

Many of those that dislike Pearson on here are those that are impatient and demand immediate success.

Patience is vital in this sport, in particular.

Or we could just get promoted so I can watch on Sky........is it too much to ask that the team from the 10th biggest city in the country can play in the top league???

What's city size got to do with the Premier League? See Norwich, Swansea, Hull, Stoke.

For me it's not a case of like /dislike as regards Pearson.

It's more a case of is he capable of getting us promoted.

In my opinion (for what it's worth) is no he is not.

I know, I know, don't need to be told he has got us into the playoffs twice, has on both occasions lost out on the second leg , never making it to Wembley though.

I like others feel that he does not have a plan B during matches.

Is too bloody minded to listen or care about anyone else's opinion.

I also feel he tends to hold a grudge.

If a player let's him down he will drop that player for not one but several games.

a.k.a. Nugent last season when he gave away that silly goal.

I have read all of the pro's and cons mentioned on here.

Nothing will change my opinion that he is just a good manager at this level, no more than that.

Personally I would have sacked him at the end of the season despite the play off qualification (he was lucky there i.m.o.).

Had there been a better manager available willing to take the job then I feel he may well have been.

Still he's here now for the duration so let's hope we do ok.

Actually 8th biggest in England, and the second biggest with only one team. We are a premiership club just badly run.

Agreed, but that means you have delusions of grandeur. When Newcastle and Man City fans demand greatness from their team they are passionate fans - when we do we are delusional. Club propaganda bought into by the majority (for now)

It's a boring boring subject.

I can understand negativity towards him, I think he's done this season and will ultimately fail, fans seem to under estimate the task ahead of him, even with the mini revival at the end, our form was still shite, I think the best he can hope to achieve is to cling on the coat tails of the play offs for most of the season and walk away from the club at the end of his contract.

Does this mean I think he should be sacked? Absolutely not, no matter how he achieved it, he managed to claim sixth place last year despite cutting our costs, and I'd view this as success. So therefore he deserves another shot because whilst I have my predictions, I wouldn't want the club sacking the manager based on the predictions of a fan, I'd want them to do it based results not a crystal ball. There's a chance I could be wrong, so in that regard I can't understand people calling for his head. Questioning his methods fine, but calling for the axe to fall after a decent season? Silly.

Plus I wouldn't have the first clue who to bring in instead anyway.

I don't normally agree with anything you say Manual Polo but this is spot on.

The difference being both Manchester City and Newcastle are in the Premier League, and we're not.

Newcastle have won sod all domestically in decades and Manchester City's recent title was brought to you by massive influx of $$$, about ten times the scale or even more than what we've seen. I dare you to compare the market value of Manchester City's starting eleven to ours.

Dream on.

No one else apart from Pearson mentioned "delusions of grandeur" in the past, and he was right - judging by the stick he got soon afterwards.

And Newcastle do have passionate fans - as demonstrated after the derby loss against Sunderland.

Newcastle and Man City are two Premier clubs firmly set in their positions. Newcastle have won the top division four times, the FA cup six times, and the Europa League once. Man City have won the top division three times, the FA cup five times and the League cup twice.

We've won the League cup three times.

I don't condemn your views although I believe in setting your objective based on your situation. Last season, I said we should be aiming for promotion, but now with the cuts to comply with FFP I see consolidating for when we are in a better position a much better target. If you think we need promotion that's your view and I respect it, although seeing Nige's wages a severance deal would just deal more damage and I doubt after that we could afford a new manager.

We're a larger Championship club with a few stints in the top flight. Over the course of our history, we've been a Second Division club for the majority of our existence. Fact.

You must be young -not so many years ago Newcastle stayed up in Div 2 by beating us and Man City were a third div team for a few years. Their respective fans demanded more and got it - too many City fans believe we are second rate. When I first supported Leicester we had several England internationals and finsihed top half Div 1 regularly

I think that's the trouble with us being out of the top flight for ten years ..... young supporters now view us as a second division side.

We are aren't we, surely we have spent more years in the second division than the top flight?

Apparantly so .... I don't know the numbers ..... but the last ten years in the premier would have probably swung it the other way.

I actually feel sorry for the young lads who haven't seen the MON era, or even the Micky Adams era. ...... it must be hard to imagine us as anything other than a 2nd division side.

It's 45 years in the top flight and 60 second flight so even before the MON era we weren't a top flight side really.

I feel for them as well.

That's only 105 years??

Aren't we 126/7 years old now?? I wonder if there wasn't a second division for the first 20 years?

I remember those days too, I remember watching England play N Ireland at Wembley when we had four Leicester players in the England team, Shilton, Whitworth, Weller and Worthington, Weller scored the winner. That's the main problem with this forum the vast majority are students or schoolboys and cannot remember when Leicester were a top half 1st division side for many a year.

Well l would say during my years of supporting LCFC we have been about even, l regard us as a Prem club, and l don't give two fooks about people like you who make excuses for absolutely everything. l like winning,  with my football team and everything else in life, losers are just lazy people, you seem like one of lifes losers.
