The Year Of The Fox Posted 6 August 2013 Posted 6 August 2013 Fvck me la! How many babestation channels does that get you for that cash??? P.s jake humfree is a wet toss biscuit No idea It seems steep though doesn't it? I have the basic package, plus Sports, plus HD, plus broadband, plus line rental. Does that seem about right!!
Guest Posted 6 August 2013 Posted 6 August 2013 BT payed a lot of money for their new sports package and the cost will be passed on to everyone that gets anything from BT. So like Sky have been doing for years then.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 6 August 2013 Posted 6 August 2013 Does anyone else have it? Thoughts? The punditry line-up for the Premier League games looks dire. David James is bearable, Owen Hargreaves seems a nice enough chap but lacks charisma, Michael Owen, Steve McManaman and Rio Ferdinand are a perfect storm of shit. Jake Humphreys is pretty vanilla, I can't say I dislike, he's just there. I was seriously pleased to see James Richardson and Raphael Honigstein are involved with the European Football coverage (which I'll probably be watching a lot more than the EPL games anyway). The exclusive rights to the UFC events is pretty, ****ing fantastic. (I stayed up to watch UFC 163 on Saturday and can't fault the coverage as it's pretty much just a Fox Sport/FX feed). Also ESPN showing live AFL matches in the mornings is well worth it. So far I have to say it looks promising, but then again I'm getting it for free as I have BT Infinity, so I'm not sure what people who are subscribing feel about it. That would be worth subscribing for alone.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 6 August 2013 Posted 6 August 2013 Just shifted my TV package from Virgin to Sky as they're doing half price for 12 months (Top entertainment pack, sports and HD for £31.50 with free install and box) so at least I have the option of getting it, although I am sure Virgin will do a deal in the end. Looks a decent line-up of sport and I'm prepared to give the new pundits a chance. They've certainly shaken things up because if BT hadn't come onto the block I am certain Sky's Football League programming wouldn't be presented from a cafe in an attempt to look casual.
SystonFox Posted 6 August 2013 Posted 6 August 2013 No idea It seems steep though doesn't it? I have the basic package, plus Sports, plus HD, plus broadband, plus line rental. Does that seem about right!! Does seen overly excessive and then you have this guy above paying £31.50 for the top package for 12 months. I am gonna ring sky today and see if I can get a decent deal to add sky sports for the new season. Reckon it'll work?
FrankieADZ Posted 6 August 2013 Posted 6 August 2013 They have taken over ESPN and have not signed a deal to be on Virgin Media TV, can see Virgin Media losing a lot of customers. doesnt mean it wont come to Virgin Media; BT and VM are said to be in talks regards BT Sports 1 & 2 & ESPN coming to Virgin Media.
Jimothy Posted 6 August 2013 Posted 6 August 2013 I don't have infinity and I get it free. That's not what it said when he went on the website, nor when he called them. Are you a sky or newish by vision customer? Because apparently that's another issue, if you have an older vision box it won't work.

I am gonna ring sky today and see if I can get a decent deal to add sky sports for the new season. Reckon it'll work? Depends what type of customer you are. My deal is for 'new' customers, or those without an active Sky account for over 12 months. Talk to them about leaving for BT and they might budge if you're already and existing customer. doesnt mean it wont come to Virgin Media; BT and VM are said to be in talks regards BT Sports 1 & 2 & ESPN coming to Virgin Media. It's likely it will come to Virgin Media. It's been suggested that it's a tactic by BT into panicking people into switching to BT (when in fact people like me are switching to Sky instead) and they'll probably announce something just before the Premier League football season kicks off. The reality is there's a huge discrepancy in the way BT and Virgin want to sell the channels. BT want total control over the subscriptions whereas VM, controllers of the platform unlike Sky, want to sell it independently and not through a Virgin call centre. That's not what it said when he went on the website, nor when he called them. Are you a sky or newish by vision customer? Because apparently that's another issue, if you have an older vision box it won't work. You don't need infinity to get BT Sport. It's free for all BT Broadband customers, whether they have an older BT Vision box or have BTB with a Sky TV subscription. The wording on the website is very confusing because it seemed to say that if you can't get infinity as a BT TV customer you couldn't get the channels.
Simmo86 Posted 6 August 2013 Posted 6 August 2013 No idea It seems steep though doesn't it? I have the basic package, plus Sports, plus HD, plus broadband, plus line rental. Does that seem about right!! Mines £72 for pretty much the same package. I've got everything apart from movies.

Because apparently that's another issue, if you have an older vision box it won't work. I think you do need to pay a 1 off £10 for a viewing card! I had a viewing card because i had ESPN previously and i will get it free but not until the 16th August (start of the prem season). Until then i can get it free via the online app (which i have done) and it all seems to working well! I can't get Virgin Media in my area so had a choice between BT and Sky, went with BT because Sky were asking a fortune. There was a sky dish on my house already but was very unimpressed with the installation when i took it down. They wrapped my house in cable about 5 times rather than just going in through the rook and in through the cavity. Every year i ring up to cancel with BT and get offered a great deal again so have stayed with them. I don't have sky sports as i head to the pub or the in laws but i quite like BT Vision. Always films or tv series to watch on there for free. Its been a bit iffy since they upgraded it and theres still work to be done on it but overall very happy.
Nick Posted 6 August 2013 Posted 6 August 2013 I have Sky for £31.50 too - every channel going, for half price, for 12 months - works out to be £50 notes including line rental and broadband with Sky. The annoying thing for me about BT Sport which may make me subscribe eventually is that they have the Moto GP and the Rugby which is a slight gamechanger. Hmm - I can feel £15 month slipping away just thinking about it.

Because apparently that's another issue, if you have an older vision box it won't work. Do watch it through a Sky box so maybe that's why I can get it instead of him without the £10 card.

Knowing VM they won't announce anything to do with it...i mean silence or the normal BS until the the 1st date of BT's first premier league fixture then...bam it will appear(depending on your subscription of course)
Soar Fox Posted 6 August 2013 Posted 6 August 2013 Just got of the phone to sky and after threatening to leave they've now gave me the multiroom free for a year and the movie channels free for 6 months.

I am gonna ring sky today and see if I can get a decent deal to add sky sports for the new season. Reckon it'll work? I cancel the sports package at the end of each season. When I renewed last week he knocked me 10 quid off I've also been given broadband for free for a year saving 7 quid a month. Deffo lgonna threaten to leave them next summer. That's what winds me up with sky they always give great offers to new customers. In hardly the most loyal after having it for 2 years but their incentives for staying are nil.

RobHawk Posted 6 August 2013 Posted 6 August 2013 Surely ringing up and threatening to leave for a better deal is an annual event? I do it with every service i have that i'm happy with, TV, Insurance etc. Saves me a fortune every year!
separator Posted 6 August 2013 Posted 6 August 2013 You won't get it if you haven't got infinity. I was at my mums over the weekend and her partner decided he would activate it just because its free, and it didn't work. Apparently he has to buy a £10 viewing card because he's not on infinity. I know it's only £10, but the advert clearly states you get it free with BT broadband, nowhere does it state you have to have infinity. He likes to make complaints, so gave them a call and you could tell the operator was thinking oh shit he's right, our advert is bullshit. I've just activated BT sport through their website and watching Sport 1 channel now. No money involved. You definitely don't need infinity to watch, though it would be better. The viewing card is needed if you want the BT channels through a Sky box. BT broaband users watch the channels through your browser or app.
newbie123 Posted 6 August 2013 Posted 6 August 2013 my cousins who lives in Loughborough and is a west ham fan has bought this and they dont have one game.
separator Posted 6 August 2013 Posted 6 August 2013 Football, AFL, boxing, Caribbean league cricket, MLB, tennis. Considering its not costing me anything it has quite a mix of sport. Guess time will tell if its any good. Edit : Des Kelly's Life's A Pitch show, what's with the canned laughter. Very annoying.

If you have BT vision with your broadband and want to watch it through the BT Vision box you need to pay £10 for a viewing card unless you are in a BT Infinity area and the £10 viewing card charge does not apply. I previously paid a one off £10 for a viewing card to watch ESPN - My viewing card will be updated from August 16 so i can get BT Sport 1 and 2 (althought ESPN is only available from the app/website or through BT infinity). That's my understanding anyways!

I don't have vision but have a PC connected to the tv so will go the browser route.

BT broaband users watch the channels through your browser or app. I watch it through Sky with normal bt broadband. They just update your sky card you don't need to pay for a separate viewing card . I think the viewing card must be for people with bt vision boxes without infinity.
