21st Century Fox Posted 5 August 2013 Posted 5 August 2013 Does anyone else have it? Thoughts? The punditry line-up for the Premier League games looks dire. David James is bearable, Owen Hargreaves seems a nice enough chap but lacks charisma, Michael Owen, Steve McManaman and Rio Ferdinand are a perfect storm of shit. Jake Humphreys is pretty vanilla, I can't say I dislike, he's just there. I was seriously pleased to see James Richardson and Raphael Honigstein are involved with the European Football coverage (which I'll probably be watching a lot more than the EPL games anyway). The exclusive rights to the UFC events is pretty, ****ing fantastic. (I stayed up to watch UFC 163 on Saturday and can't fault the coverage as it's pretty much just a Fox Sport/FX feed). Also ESPN showing live AFL matches in the mornings is well worth it. So far I have to say it looks promising, but then again I'm getting it for free as I have BT Infinity, so I'm not sure what people who are subscribing feel about it.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 5 August 2013 Posted 5 August 2013 I'd not expect anyone to have to pay to watch the UFC. They'd have to pay me to watch crap like that. I have sky and if I ever leave them it'll be to go back to normal tele. I'm certainly refusing to buy the BT channels via Sky. It's ****in ridiculous that I spend £83 a month on my Sky as it is.
stix Posted 5 August 2013 Posted 5 August 2013 Did you have to subscribe to your bt broadband for another year in order to get the tv channels for free? I considered getting it but my bt broadband is shockingly bad so don't really want to sign up for it again. Not now virgin fibre optic is available to me.
leicesterisme Posted 5 August 2013 Posted 5 August 2013 Nah I'll stick with Sky, don't think anyone will ever get close to what they offer. BT seem to be talking a lot, it'll be interesting to see if they can deliver, that punditry line up alone (bar James Richardson and Rafa) is enough to keep me away.

No but then I'm just streaming the feed from my Mac to my TV instead of signing up to the channels. I can't really knock the Infinity quality in my area, it's pretty consistently high, so I'm getting a good HD stream going.

I have friends in the US and Australia that have to get it on pay-per-view from Fox so if you're a fan it's a pretty decent deal.

Off topic slightly but I watched 'Bellator' on viva lastnight just by chance. Not sure how recent the event was but it was excellent. The standard was very high. Some quality knockouts.
kingfox Posted 5 August 2013 Posted 5 August 2013 I have BT Infinity so I'm getting it free like yourself 21st Century Fox. I've got it partly because of the Tigers matches & Tennis, extra Football as well of course but not so bothered about that. Only time will tell on how good at is.

Father Ted Posted 5 August 2013 Posted 5 August 2013 They have taken over ESPN and have not signed a deal to be on Virgin Media TV, can see Virgin Media losing a lot of customers.
ScouseFox Posted 5 August 2013 Posted 5 August 2013 They have taken over ESPN and have not signed a deal to be on Virgin Media TV, can see Virgin Media losing a lot of customers. Yeah that pissed me off. I quite liked free ESPN and kinda (stupidly) assumed they'd just roll onto free BT Sport like they did when ESPN nabbed the Prem games off Setanta. But no. Nothing. And ESPN Classic doesn't even work now and that was fúcking boss. No more classic World Cup or Premier League legends
AKCJ Posted 5 August 2013 Posted 5 August 2013 I have their broadband so I connected BT Sport up to my SKY box for free today. So far it's been pretty shite. Womens football and 'Goals of the 2001/01' season were all that was on really.
I am Rod Hull Posted 5 August 2013 Posted 5 August 2013 Sky Sports all the way. Reassuringly expensive You cant beat Sky for sports coverage. Cricket, Golf, Footie, Darts, Rugby, F1, etc etc.
Wymsey Posted 5 August 2013 Posted 5 August 2013 Reassuringly expensive You cant beat Sky for sports coverage. Cricket, Golf, Footie, Darts, Rugby, F1, etc etc. Aye. However, I do miss Andy Gray and Richard Keys, tbh.
separator Posted 5 August 2013 Posted 5 August 2013 I have BT broadband, but not infinity (not available where I live yet). Not used BT sport yet, but I get buffering occasionally if i'm watching BBC iPlayer HD content so am assuming it may struggle with live games. Guess i'm gonna find out soon enough. Don't mind Jake Humphries as the anchor, Balding is ok for non footie sports (nags, athletics etc). Not sure about the puntit line up.

I was at my mums over the weekend and her partner decided he would activate it just because its free, and it didn't work. Apparently he has to buy a £10 viewing card because he's not on infinity. I know it's only £10, but the advert clearly states you get it free with BT broadband, nowhere does it state you have to have infinity. He likes to make complaints, so gave them a call and you could tell the operator was thinking oh shit he's right, our advert is bullshit.
Soar Fox Posted 5 August 2013 Posted 5 August 2013 I have sky multiroom, looked at getting BT sports as I used to pay £9 extra for ESPN . From what I gather it looks like I'd have to pay £15 per box for the multiroom which would be £30 a month. Then activating the channel for a further £45.
Guest Posted 5 August 2013 Posted 5 August 2013 Reassuringly expensive You cant beat Sky for sports coverage. Cricket, Golf, Footie, Darts, Rugby, F1, etc etc. Whilst I agree that they do some quality coverage, don't you get tired of lack of competition and basically being held to ransom by Sky for their coverage?
LCFC FOX Posted 5 August 2013 Posted 5 August 2013 I have BT but only because I got it for free, don't buy sky as I am a fan who is willing not to give sky money and would sooner them go so all matches can be on a Saturday 3pm again

Nope. I have BT but only because I got it for free, don't buy sky as I am a fan who is willing not to give sky money and would sooner them go so all matches can be on a Saturday 3pm again BT payed a lot of money for their new sports package and the cost will be passed on to everyone that gets anything from BT.

If you carry on this way maybe skill WILL actually realise the error in there ways and pull out of showing live footy 7 times in one weekend at ridiculous times #dealwithit
