Ken,I don't think anybody really thinks like that,I think most of us on here are fairly light hearted but are always looking for that laugh out loud moment .i know I am and fail!

Yes it's easy pickings for a laugh and it might be different in Leicester, but in Cambridge for every decent homeless person, polite and just falling on hard times, you get the aggressive ,drugged up,drunk scaring the elderly and kids, homeless person.

Might aunt is quite a thoughtful person and often sees homeless people outside where she works, with the sign" cold hungry" she BUYS them sandwiches and a hot drink. Some are grateful but loads moan and say they wanted the money.i wonder why.

I know. I'm sorry sometimes I misjudge the jokes as being serious. It's not me I work and meet a few people that have been through the system. One or two of the women i know were forced out of their homes because of domestic violence. They are now in a position to help others in that position and prevent what happened to them. There are those that are difficult to handle but for someone that does want to change it is difficult because they have to share a private landlord tenancy with these people. It is made extra difficult if they had had breakdowns and suffered abuse or family issues.

The majority of the footballers have already made strides to change their lives around. Just being selected would boost their confidence.

Sorry again if I go OTT but it seems the jibes are aimed at the better side of people I know. You can say what you like to me.

If tramps are life's winners, who are life's losers?

Homeless people are not always tramps but you already know that. If your house burned  down while yo are watching City you could be homeless tonight.  You might just have the clothes to stand in but it would be unkind of me to call you a tramp.

I would not do it.

Honest. :)

Some charities advise not to give money

By law if you are in danger of losing your home for whatever reason the council are obliged to find you some where to stay. This will be increasingly difficult this winter with the closure of some hostels and affects of income changes to many working families.

There is a list of criterial which must be met before a person can be classed as homeless from eviction to domestic violence. Not always self choice.

I'd move to my other house.

How and why are their 8 winners?

Is it like the trophy you give to disabled kids on sports day to try and make them believe they are winners.

Looking on the bright side, the England lads got a hot shower and clean clothes all in the same day! - went 'home' happy.

I think some of you have either missed the point or on the wind up again.

Oh well it's not for me to explain it all again you are all intelligent enough

to work it out for yourselves. There are one or two testimonies on the site

that go some way to describe what many have achieved through partaking

in an event such as this.

Answer my question.

It's not the winning it's the taking part. They are all winners.

Noy seen Englands results today.

As lovely as that sounds, that's not really true is it?

I had a hell of a job arguing that in Laddies yesterday.

Just a quick look at the website shows that the group round robin serves as a qualification round of sorts, where the teams are send to 8 mini-cups based on their performance... Which actually makes a lot of sense of 1) the purpose is to have teams playing throughout the entire tournament and 2) obviously there is a huge disparity of talent here.

Anyway, if I didn't have a roof over my head, didn't have any money, and didn't know where my next meal was coming from, getting picked for this event may not make me feel like a winner but I'd still feel a lot ****ing better than I did before! **** a trophy, I'd just want a shower! And if it gave me a little self-esteem boost to help improve my life, all the better.

That said...this just might be the funniest thread going right now.

On a positive note it's only 10 months until the start of the World Cup for those with homes.

Thanks to this World Cup, Brazil is looking like the favorites for the next Homeless World Cup as they have cleared out a few favelas and evicted a lot of people from the slums there.

Don't worry, Brazil will become the first South American member of the European Union and they'll all come here and be eligible to play for us next time.

Ken, it's a real shame people have missed your message with this.

I think it is fantastic that football is being used to give younger people who have been through crap in their lives, a second chance and a leap pad to better things. The stories on the site are really touching and it is obvious that this tournament has helped thousands of people in the past.

I find it quite offensive having seen friends go through similar situations that people can still be so stereotypical and blind, tarring these people in with your average "tramp" who takes the money earned to the nearest drug centre. As ken has reiterated all through this thread this is for people who have had no choice but to have no where to go.

It's a fantastic thing to have and I am pleased to see that yet again this year it has been a success.

Thanks for the updates ken i have found the tournament very interesting.
