cuddly ken Posted 20 August 2013 Posted 20 August 2013 Very poor player who gives us nothing in this 352. Gutted:-( Rubbish! He's a good player who gives us more at LB than Jeff, who is a forward anyhow. Can't blame him for staying if the money isn't right, would anyone on here leave their job for the same type of job for less money? No, of course not!

Guest Col city fan Posted 20 August 2013 Posted 20 August 2013 I'm quite disappointed at how many people are seemingly dismissing Schlupp as an attacking left back. This lad's quick and quite strong. Yes, positionally he's not the best, but he'll learn this. Don't forget, he's young. He now needs to be given a chance and crucial game time to be able to develop into this role. Many on here are advocating the youthful squad, building for the future n all that. Well if that's the case, the same patience needs to be afforded to Schlupp. Personally, I'd let Konch go. Like so many of Sven's signings, he doesn't represent value for money (he's well paid and not that good). If we are truly building for the future, let's get Jeff in and give him a consistent run in the first team.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 20 August 2013 Posted 20 August 2013 Its not funny, we've got someone on the wage bill that thought he was moving on and now were stuck with him. Plus we'll probably not bring any in before he goes. I was laughing at the error in the article you Mongolian

If anything he has been solid and never let us down. That performance last season with him and Lloydy overlapping and swapping was immense. I really think he has potential to become a top class player in that position. People forget that Ashley Cole (yes, I am stretching it a bit) started as a forward.

If he can sort out his decision making (i.e cutting out the errors like pen at Leeds and sometimes dropping off on who is behind him) I think he could be superb in the left back slot as well. He has all the attributes you would want from a player in that position.
Dan Posted 20 August 2013 Posted 20 August 2013 No surprise that it's fell through due to wages. Thanks again Sven.

Les-TA-Jon Posted 20 August 2013 Posted 20 August 2013 Yh, well said Col, totally don't understand the hate for Schlupp's defensive capabilities either. Anyone see him in the Palace game last season, at home, when they were top I believe. They had zaha and bolasie terrorising flanks every game up to that point. And I think it was Schlupp's first start in a while or something. Big pressure, he responded well and had a great game!

Fairly certain Konch played in that game at left back and we got ripped to shreds down both flanks that day. I remember Schlupp coming in against someone decent and doing well but don't think it was Palace?

Konch was solid in his first season and undoubtedly gives his all, sadly though he's a bit square peggish now. Considering his age, rumoured salary and the fact his distribution at the tail end of last season, and in this so far, is shocking, it's time to hopefully say thanks and all the best Konch.

I remember Schlupp coming in against someone decent and doing well but don't think it was Palace? Blackpool game I think. That was one of his first 'slotting in to LB' games and he bossed the role. Absolutely owned that position. He was sent to Man Utd to learn a trade too and not (as many people thought) because they were going to sign him. He's a brilliant, brilliant LB for this division. Strong, fearless in the tackle and fast. He needs game time now to gain experience. Personally, I still think Konch will go and we'll just have to top up the wages like we've done with Beckford.

Freeman's Wharfer Posted 22 August 2013 Posted 22 August 2013 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23796442 Balls. Could have done with him off the wage bill, and with the way he's played over the last year out of the team too.
trotterfox87 Posted 27 August 2013 Posted 27 August 2013 I wish he has at 94k a week, so I've been told. High wages anyway. A good player but not worth his wages
