dannythefox Posted 17 August 2013 Posted 17 August 2013 Been a good pro while he's been here I wish him all the best. Maybe when he leaves we might bring a new striker of midfielder in.
Guest Col city fan Posted 17 August 2013 Posted 17 August 2013 I'd be pleased to see Konch move on. He's ok, but that's about it. Schlupp is the future of the 3-5-2 IMO.
Happy Fox Posted 17 August 2013 Posted 17 August 2013 Good news we have two capable LWB's in Schlupp and Bakayogo, hopefully his departure means we can sign a player or two in attacking midfield and upfront.
jock2612 Posted 17 August 2013 Posted 17 August 2013 Think it vital to free up wages,BUT we do need to add to the squad esp in midfield and may be a striker on loan.I assume NP thinks JS can cover at LB but i have to say looked out of his depth in some games last season so i hope the new guy can step up!
Number 6 Posted 17 August 2013 Posted 17 August 2013 Nahki Wells or Jacob Mellis in with the freed up cash please.
dog_4 Posted 17 August 2013 Posted 17 August 2013 Konchesky was on 45k a week at Liverpool and shit players like uke abe were on 40k when they were here! the very bare mininimum he'd be on is 25k a week! The
Blueblood1989 Posted 17 August 2013 Posted 17 August 2013 whoever said that is talking out of their a-hole. if he comes out with 94k paying the 50% tax rate that's 188k a month earnings before tax.. no way is he on nearly 50k a week. IMO ever heard of a 5 week month?
iamafox Posted 17 August 2013 Posted 17 August 2013 Wonder if QPR are still interested, looks as though they will offer the most money for him.
kingfox Posted 17 August 2013 Posted 17 August 2013 If we can get a good amount for him, I would use that as part of a deal for Nahki Wells then send Bradford, Waghorn on loan. Then get in a central midfielder with a bit of finesse.
Mack Posted 17 August 2013 Posted 17 August 2013 All those who think Schlupp can do the job Konch has need a reality check, the guy is ok going forward but in a defensive mode he is has little to nothing.
MGLCFC Posted 17 August 2013 Posted 17 August 2013 Just a thought - Miguel has played left back for Arsenal. I know Arsenal fans say he is poor in that position, however at Championship level he maybe ok in a flat back 4, whilst Bakayogo or Schlupp may play as wing backs in a 352 formation.
Dickov22 Posted 17 August 2013 Posted 17 August 2013 He's been a good player for us - dependable and solid but I think his age is catching up with him a bit. Probably on high wages, and with Schlupp and Bakayogo (how can he STILL not be match fit by the way?!) we have plenty of cover. Konch out will free up some cash to hopefully get a quality player in.
shade Posted 17 August 2013 Posted 17 August 2013 ever heard of a 5 week month? a 35 day month? nope, not on this planet, what planet are you on?
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 17 August 2013 Posted 17 August 2013 Come the January transfer window, I can see Kasper and Wes going.
Tielemans63 Posted 17 August 2013 Posted 17 August 2013 a 35 day month? nope, not on this planet, what planet are you on?He means a 5 week month in terms of pay. As in, you might get paid a week earlier in Dec to buy Xmas presents so therefore you have a 5 week month before you get paid again. Surely you've heard of that?!On another note - cant understand why people think we're going to get a significant fee for Konch - absolutely no chance IMHO. Someone will be taking one of our highest earners off our hands, it'll be a nominal fee at best. Don't get your hopes up that we'll get a transfer fee that we can do much with.
MPH Posted 18 August 2013 Posted 18 August 2013 Come the January transfer window, I can see Kasper and Wes going. Depends on how well we are doing....
Jugsi Posted 18 August 2013 Posted 18 August 2013 I can't see any high earning players being able to command much of a fee outside a Premiership transfer unless they are young. Ill miss Konch but anyone on that kind of salary puts the club at risk with FFP and has to move on or take a sizeable cut.
Zingari Posted 18 August 2013 Posted 18 August 2013 It's a good time for him to go and best for all concerned . I'm not going to be a Konchy objector .( i'm not too keen on tar and feathers)
Captain... IMO Does that include performance bonuses? Are they tax free? And he would be in the higher rate of tax bracket, but he wouldn't pay 50% tax on everything, and is probably doing some tax dodging creative accounting, so it may not be as ridiculous as you think.
Jace Posted 18 August 2013 Posted 18 August 2013 Does that include performance bonuses? Are they tax free? Na he would pay 50% on everything above the allowance rates otherwise it would benefit everyone to just go onto minimum wage and go on performance pay if it was tax exempt regardless of what industry you are in
Ric Flair Posted 18 August 2013 Posted 18 August 2013 We'll miss him if this Bakayogo isn't good enough as Schlupp cannot be expected to play left back all season.
Dickov22 Posted 18 August 2013 Posted 18 August 2013 We'll miss him if this Bakayogo isn't good enough as Schlupp cannot be expected to play left back all season. Pearson sees Schlupp as a left back
Strokes Posted 18 August 2013 Posted 18 August 2013 Pearson sees Schlupp as a left backOh dear, i hope not. Jeff is much better further up the field.
Dickov22 Posted 18 August 2013 Posted 18 August 2013 Oh dear, i hope not. Jeff is much better further up the field. Do you think so? I'm undecided. I thought his best game last season was away at Forest at left back.
