One of the things about being a gambler is you remember events like that lol

Real won it 2-1, they missed a penalty and then scored in the last minute I think. Everyone was backing them at 7/2.

Can't remember them missing a penalty, just remember Zidane scoring one in the last minute to make it 2-1.

Football is a harsh game.

Napoli get drawn with Arsenal and Dortmund, win four out of six games and go out in third with 12 points.

Zenit get Porto and Austria Vienna, win one out of six games and stumble through in second with 6 points.

Yeah but that's really why we love it.

Oh I know but what a sickening for them. Cruel.

Who do you want then Arsenal fans?

PSG, Real, Atletico, Barca or Bayern? lol

Love a bit of Terry Henry making Redknapp look retarded on live TV.

"You just have to choose them though don't you Thierry?"

It was, Redknapp clearly another one who hasn't watched Atletico Madrid play recently.

Nowhere near Dwight Yorke's "You know what you'll get with Bayern, solid, dependable, tight, not too much flair, typical Germans" comment two years back but still midly retarded.

Nice to see the English teams actually turned up this year although I'll be surprised if any of them even make the semis.

I still have absolutely no idea how they do the draw for the next round. I've tried thinking it few a few times and I can't get my head around the logic - how do you possibly do a draw where first place avoids second place, where two sides of the same nationality avoid each other, where two teams who qualified out of the same group avoid each other - without actually fixing the entire thing? I cannot get my head round it.

They've been doing this for years. United, for example, can draw any one of five teams.

Napoli's points total is a record for a side that hasn't gotten through I read, likewise Zenit for a team that has.

I know what the end product of the draw is - I just don't know how they do it fairly without knowing which team is in each ball.

I had a thought.. that they had say, one pot for every single team and it's full of the teams they could get, and they keep going drawing the teams until they come across one that is yet to be drawn. Only possible way of doing it isn't it? Unless there's a simpler way that I'm missing.

I've never actually seen this draw done. When is it? I'll watch it if it's tomorrow.

Usually Fridays and usually around midday/1pm-ish.

Europa League draw done at same event too. What a day you have in store!

Not too bothered about Europa.

By breakfast I meant "breakfast, dinner and tea" (considering how long the draw takes)

If I remember correctly they have a bowl full of teams that say Man Utd could get. So all the second place teams minus Arsenal, Man City and Leverkusen. When they draw Man Utd out, they take a ball from the pot of teams they can play, and then bin that pot.

But surely they end up drawing teams twice? Say Man Utd draw... Galatasaray. You've got that tie done, so next up, we have Real Madrid drawn from the first place finishers... in their pot of teams only they can draw, what's stopping them getting Galatasaray too? If they draw Gala, do they just keep drawing teams out until they come up against one that hasn't yet been drawn?

That's the only possible way I can think of.

Because they've already drawn Galatasaray the ball gets thrown away.

Jesus Christ man this isn't difficult!

I still don't get how they do it fairly. If they've got a Galatasaray ball for the Man Utd pot, and then a Galatasaray ball for the Real Madrid pot that can no longer be drawn due to them already having Man Utd, then how do they know which which ball in the Real Madrid pot (Galatasaray) to get rid of? How do they know it's Galatasaray without checking them all?

I'm gonna have to watch this. I get the hint there's something very obvious that isn't clicking here...

EDIT; It's sort of clicked. So I'll guess they do each pot one at a time and selecting the teams that they can draw before hand...? I think I get it. I don't know. Shoot me.
