Clueless Pearson

Says it all in the title

There was a lot wrong today, performance level by the players just wasn't there for eg.

But if he's clueless today, was he not clueless after 4 wins & a draw saw us joint top, or has he just woke up clueless today?

Please elaborate

Bet you've had a "Clueless Pearson" post lined up for the past month, just waiting for us to finally lose a game so you can use it

There is some truth to this I'm afraid.

For example Lloyd Dyer, comes on last week, sets up two and gets the penalty.

Midweek is captain, scores, sets one up, plays a blinder.

Saturday? Dropped....................................

We've been a goal down at half time 3 times already this season and he's had to rely on a change of tactics and changes of formations to get himself out of the mess he made for himself by his squad selection in the first half.

Today: bringing Dyer on to play left back when he have a left back on the bench. We all know Dyer is only good going forward.

Dropping Dyer & Knockaert in the first place.

Taking vardy off instead of Nugent. I can't think of one thing Nugent did rite today.

The list is endless his tactics were embarrassing today.

We must give Pearson until around Xmas, before we start hacking him down. Let's give him a fair chance to prove us doubters wrong. Up until today he has done pretty well, so we shouldn't slice him up, after just one bad result.

If, at Xmas we are drifting off the top six, then will be the time to express our discontent. Let's hope we are up there in the mix, although I still have my doubts, but until that happens, let's get behind the club.

I think we are all getting a little excited. It is true that we haven't put in the best performances so far this season but if you had offered me this points return at the start of the season I would have taken it. I agree that the 3-5-2 doesn't exactly look settled and tends to become a 5-3-2 with the wing-backs not getting forward. I also agree that we seem to be starting games poorly and that these things might be related BUT we have gotten the points and NP has managed (without any managerial qualities at all - according to some) to turn games around.

As for today, this is the Championship guys and teams lose. It happens. We played poorly again in the first half but events conspired against us in the second and we played with ten men for well over half-an-hour. Kasper might have kept us in it but we scored a goal and I thought we might have nicked a draw. That doesn't mean we deserved a draw but it does mean that the game hadn't completely gotten away from us (a sign of a good team). We were playing a team that needed a win which is dangerous. We were playing a team that we have a bad record against which is also dangerous (I do believe in bogey teams as football is a psychological game). We were playing a team with ex-players in it, who had a point to prove, which is dangerous. But mainly, we cannot win every game. There are games that we will lose.

Looking forward. We now have two weeks until we play again. Two weeks for NP to work on his system. Two weeks for Hammond to 'bed in' - because with James out then he is surely going straight into the team. In that time the transfer window will close and things will become more settled - we will have a better idea of who we are, what players we have and how to go forward. And in two weeks we play Wigan; a team that will surely be up there at the end of the season. Then we play Blackburn and Blackpool. These 3 games are going to be tough and after that we might have a better idea of what our season is going to look like (but even then it is probably still too early). Not now, because now it isn't actually looking too bad.

Spot on. Give him a fair chance and if he's in or in catching distance of the play-offs it's an obvious choice to keep him on.

Point being anyone who has actually seen the games knows we've been fortunate to have got the results we have so far.

Lets up Nigel wakes up before we go on a run of 4 games without a win, which could easily have been the case already.

I'm not Chris Woods biggest fan, but surely it's a no brainer to start somebody who scores a hattrick mid week? Especially when Nugent has done nothing to warrant his place in the side.

Come on & change the game on Saturday then play well mid week and still be dropped. What a confidence booster that must be.

you are whats wrong with football today!!! things didnt go our way today granted and improvements do need to be made, but undefeated up until now and one game your on our managers back... **** off and support man u we're leicester city were a good side for the league we're in. i hate loosing but im sorry to inform you but one day it will happen again (under any other manager you would no doubt prefer) occasionally all clubs loose games that (on paper) they should win (man city only last weekend for example) it happens occasionally a manager gets it wrong, there are TWO teams trying to win the game. we have not had a bad run and in no way does np deserve to be called clueless after 1 defeat yes its fair to question todays formation etc. if we lost the next 5/6 games yes question what is going on in the dressing room but 1 GAME!? if fans like you got there way i bet o'neill never would of got the chance of taking us to where he did after the start he had.

Have you had this thread ready to be posted on a tab for the past month?

Funnily enough no.

I've gave Pearson credit where it's due, for example his changes at boro.

However today it was clear to see, we should be going away full of confidence 5 wins out of 6 and attacking them just like donny, who knows we could of been 3 up ourselfs with vardy and dyers pace. But no we played defensively with 5 at the back and didn't have a shot on target all first half.

Shocked to see some people are content with this.

Didn't see it didn't listen due to being out of range of rl but I was afraid what would happen happened. And it did defensive set up,usual subs when we were is the clag.Obviously three goals is not good enough to get a start.Sorry but we are going to end up about 8th.Not clueless but close

you just admitted that pearson is not clueless as by what he's already proved this season? today he got it wrong i am not denying that but how fickle do you want to be 1 loss in 7??

Says it all in the title.

We go away to a side with 1 point, only scoring 3 goals all season and just off the back of a 3 goal embarrassment by Doncaster. So what do we do?

Play 5 along the back. The most negative and defensive minded tactic possible. Another new partnership along that backline too, how can our defence be settled when it's being choped and changed constantly with different partnerships and formations.

Now I understand we can't win every game, but surely we can at least try and set up to win them? First half I cant think of a single shot on goal.

We know Charlton don't have the best defence in the leauge and certainly not a quick one so why are we not getting at them with pace? Dropping an inform dyer & knockaert when they changed the game for us last weekend & both scored mid week once again proves to me just how clueless he is and how little he bothers looking into the opposition.

Can see where your coming from, but you are on a loser posting that on foxes talk, as you can see you will be called every name under the sun, which will go un challenged.

I agree that he's has been too defensive, I have said this, and I have stated that starting games as we have will cost us, and the performances have to be blamed on both the management and players alike, but were you let yourself down, or should I say leave yourself open to abuse is, its one defeat, and we have got 10 points from 15, so not tactically brilliant and performances have been lacking, but far too early to use the word clueless.

Like I say, I can see where your coming from, and can see your frustrated, and if Nigel doesn't sorts the performance out, or continues in this way of playing, and isn't getting results, I will slate him, but the results have been good.

I don't agree with the abuse/ name calling you have received, as it's your opinion and what your stating isn't ridiculous(clueless abit harsh on early results), and I would have hoped posters would have respected that, and challenged and debated your comments rather than throwing insults.

OP has a point, I think people should stop laying into him. Ever since the start of last season when we were playing well away and not getting the results, Pearson has been super defensive away from the KP, and as a result our away performances and results have been getting worse and worse. We are a good attacking team, it should make no difference whether we play home or away. He's too defensive and that's a fact, and it could cost us again this year

Some criticism of Pearson is perfectly justified. We've been absolutely appalling everytime we've played this pathetic 8-0-2 formation, everyone knows it, and yet Pearson sticks with it. It really beggars belief and why he keeps playing it is to me a total mystery. I said during out capitulation last season that I thought Pearson had lost the plot in terms of formation. Nothing that has happened this season has convinced me otherwise.

Apart from 10 points from 5 games. Oopsie!

Pearson out then? After one defeat? Get a grip.
