MooseBreath Posted 5 October 2013 Posted 5 October 2013 Yes. There must be some comfort in your ignorance. Yes indeed, just like your mother tells me, "what my 'usband don't know won't 'urt 'im".
sphericalfox Posted 5 October 2013 Posted 5 October 2013 Yes indeed, just like your mother tells me, "what my 'usband don't know won't 'urt 'im". Ah, the resort and retort of an imbecile.
OzFox Posted 5 October 2013 Posted 5 October 2013 Social media seems to be creating a generation of self obsessed dullards. Me and the wife went down to sydney harbour tonight to watch the naval review. We found a good spot with a blinding view of the opera House and the bridge, and stood for two hours waiting for kick off. Then at the first flicker of a firework a sea of smartphones went up into the air, held aloft by row upon row of people more intent on recording the experience and uploading it to fvcking facetweet than they were on actually enjoying the moment. Really weird, not to mention that it impeded the view of anyone not in the front few rows. Should have stayed home and watched it on the tele. Apparently it looked great
ADK Posted 5 October 2013 Posted 5 October 2013 Yep? Why are you surprised, just out of curiosity. I've been pretty vocally anti these data harvesting companies masquerading as social improvers a number of times on here Fair enough, I thought you would be all in favour of people making money off of people's naivety in that way. After all, no-one is forced to join these sites and hand over all their personal details. I agree with you though.

OzFox Posted 5 October 2013 Posted 5 October 2013 Concerts are the worst for that, hate them with a passion, just keep them in your pocket and enjoy the moment. Hilarious in some respect. Hundreds of people wait for hours in the crush, then shove their phone in the air and watch the spectacle on a little LCD screen.

I don't know, selling idiots crap they don't really want or need is one thing, at least that takes some genuine skills in marketing and product development. But this subtle capturing of personal data is something that strikes an unsettling chord with me somehow. I'm not saying these businesses should be banned or anything like that, just that I wish more people would see them for what they are and be careful with what information they're giving away.
Fox92 Posted 5 October 2013 Posted 5 October 2013 i cant stand it when i am out with mates and somebody tags us into that location. who gives a fvck if we have just arrived at the pub for a "cheeky beer or seven" why is it always a cheeky beer? It's always the cheeky/quiet drinks that fvck me up Seriously though, I hate it when you're out and people are on the phones. Posting or checking into Facebook. Just enjoy the night ffs... The other week we were in the pub and my mate says, 'just look at the amount of people on their phones'. And it's true, makes me laugh how people, especially girls, leave their phones on the table.
Soar Fox Posted 6 October 2013 Posted 6 October 2013 There's a girl on my Facebook who most upload 10/12 photos of herself every week. She got un-friended last Sunday after putting up a photo of herself in some Nike blazers and wearing a beeny hat with the caption "selfie Sunday" I wouldn't mind if she was half decent but she looks dog rough in the photos.

I had similar mate, about 5 pics a day and had to post to the world whenever she was on a night out. Final straw was when she posted about needing cuddles. Jesus Christ Zzzzzzzz
Rincewind Posted 6 October 2013 Posted 6 October 2013 had one today say she was tired and going for a nap. made my whole day better for that info.
Soar Fox Posted 7 October 2013 Posted 7 October 2013 had one today say she was tired and going for a nap. made my whole day better for that info. Another one that annoys me is "Fvcking fuming right now" What's up babe? "Nothing hun, how are you"
ozleicester Posted 7 October 2013 Posted 7 October 2013 Leicester bus driver who ignores the red light, lollipop lady and kids on a school crossing and flies straight through it. Hopefully they'll find out who it was and sack them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=APNTRXV_Eyo that is some damn poor driving Moreover the bloke riding around filming everyone is just another piece of this shit jigsaw. Also love his moral outrage.. and then goes and stops at the crossing (illegal) to complain about the illegal activity of the bus.
Danno Posted 7 October 2013 Posted 7 October 2013 The new thing on fb where you can set your status to John Smith is feeling _____ ... No one gives a **** you *****.
Alf Bentley Posted 7 October 2013 Posted 7 October 2013 The new thing on fb where you can set your status to John Smith is feeling _____ ... No one gives a **** you *****. I don't know, if the status is set to "John Smith is feeling your girlfriend's arse", you might give a **** Yes, I need to grow up, I know...
Alf Bentley Posted 7 October 2013 Posted 7 October 2013 Another one that annoys me is "Fvcking fuming right now" What's up babe? "Nothing hun, how are you" Well said, Sir! Anyone who calls other people "babe", or particularly "hun", is likely to be self-obsessed, insincere, devious and superficial, in my experience....
Samilktray Posted 7 October 2013 Posted 7 October 2013 No 1 forces you to be on any social media site, and you dont have to have these people who annoy you on their. You people moan like you dont have the option to delete facebook/twitter or the people on there.
Dan Posted 9 October 2013 Posted 9 October 2013 The social networks are a bit of a disaster for people imo. OK they are useful tools for orchestrating a real social life, but the problem is they are not in themselves social in any way, and people use them as a replacement for proper face to face social interaction. This is bad enough but the extra degree of separation seems to encourage people to indulge themselves in narcissism and vanity, creating this frantic orgy of thinly veiled appeals for vicarious gratification, otherwise known as humblebragging. This translates terribly into the real world, and the more people get used to interacting like that on social networks, the harder they find it to interact in real life. All of this is actively encouraged by the websites themselves, as their greatest long term money making potential is in the amount of knowledge they have about people and how much they can sell that knowledge for. So when creepy cvnts like Mark Zuckerberg say things like "if everybody shares everything on facebook then we'll all have much better lives" what he's really saying is "stay indoors on your computer and tell me every little thing that you're doing or thinking, i'll then take all of that information and use it to make myself stinking rich while your social life degenerates into a distant, emotionally vacuous race for 'likes' from people you don't actually know and who don't actually care about you at all". All fvcked up if you ask me. You speak a hell of a lot of sense on this sort of subject, I tweet far too often admittedly and use it all a lot but I can fully appreciate where you're coming from with this.
Trumpet Posted 9 October 2013 Posted 9 October 2013 that is some damn poor driving Also love his moral outrage.. and then goes and stops at the crossing (illegal) to complain about the illegal activity of the bus. The bus driver, most probably with a bus load of people wouldn't have wanted to slam his breaks on. Although, that doesn't excuse bad driving. Clearly wasn't paying attention and going too fast. Self righteous cyclist's piss me off, with all their camera's attached to themselves. Most are just looking for confrontation, when in fact a good deal of cyclist's make mistakes and don't always abide to the rules of the road.

People are obsessed with this shit, we're talking about people that literally can't get off their phone, is this really the way forward? Living a life through a fvcking mobile phone...Jesus.
