Cricketing Footballers

The days when professional footballers played County Cricket are over. Those days are remembered in an article by Mike Turner, the former secretary / manager of Leicestershire County Cricket Club.

These memories include Leicestershire players Graham Cross who played almost 500 games for Leicester City, Chris Balderstone and several others.

The full article is also to be found here: http://www.leicscricketmembers.co.uk/the-turner-years-and-a-profile.html

Lineker could've been a county cricketer, he was excellent at schoolboy level.

A lot of cricketers are into their football. Some people think the link is Rugby and Cricket, but I've found cricketers are more into their football.

Ted Hemsley was a full back at Sheffield United and like the previously mentioned Jim Standen, played cricket for worcs (about the same time)

Apparently Chris Wood is pretty good and could have been a pro!

Given New Zealand's general batting performances, he could probably play for them now.
