Renart Posted 5 November 2013 Posted 5 November 2013 With the Top Gun sound track coming up in another thread and then a friend sending me a link to the following earlier today I thought I would ask you all about your thoughts on sound tracks. Thoughts? The Good, the bad, the ugly. What makes a good soundtrack? Where has it gone wrong? Or we could just list our favs. I will start by posting this (might as well start up-to-date), which a friend sent me earlier today: http://www.npr.org/2013/11/03/242103173/first-listen-soundtrack-inside-llewyn-davis Have only had a quick listen and it sounds really good. Coen brothers tend to get their music spot on. Who else manages this (Tarantino automatically jumps out)? From a classical perspective these two always jump out at me: Michael Nyman - plenty to choose from but I love Wonderland (poor film but great music): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1NGiXKAV5b0 and Yann Tiersen's Amelie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ciqf8yMVzAk

Finnegan Posted 7 November 2013 Posted 7 November 2013 Soundtracks and scores are hugely different. My inner indie love 500dos as a soundtrack. Lost in Translation was pretty epic too, as is every Tarantino film ever. Scores, my latest favorite is actually Dragon Tattoo, the Ross and Reznor one. Top bombing.
