Unabomber Posted 18 November 2013 Posted 18 November 2013 For anyone in the Coalville Thringstone area Ruby's is the best.
Finnegan Posted 18 November 2013 Posted 18 November 2013 11 to 15 stone from age 20 to 30. Doesn't bode well for my 40th... Haha, join me on the treadmill mate. Determined to get back down to near my age 20 weight before I hit 30. Well, that's a lie, I used to weigh under 9 stone, I'm glad I don't anymore.
fazzyfox Posted 18 November 2013 Posted 18 November 2013 I remember "Bean Rounders" at Grimsby, baked beans inside a ball of battered sausage meat. Don't know anyone who ever asked for it a second time. At least KFC give you a free bucket.

That's anorexia I'd love to say I'll try and get back in shape but that ship has sailed now, not interested in exercise and I just like my food far too much.
WillieJTejeda Posted 18 November 2013 Posted 18 November 2013 Ever since Walnut Street chippy closed, I have been in disarray searching for a chippy in Leicester that has gravy. Went to Marios chippy on braunstone gate but no luck? if i were you i would do it at home!
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 19 November 2013 Posted 19 November 2013 There's one on Fosse Road North opposite the Tesco which is just over 5 minutes away from Mario's. Mario's used to be fantastic as well. Bucks chippy is fairly decent but for me it's a close call between Grimsby Fisheries and Millenium Fish bar on Saffron lane. I remember getting a kebab from there and it was bigger than my head!
Nick Posted 19 November 2013 Posted 19 November 2013 I remember getting a kebab from there and it was bigger than my head! You mean 'hot dog'?
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 19 November 2013 Posted 19 November 2013 Is the Beatrice Road chipshop off Fosse Road North as good as it was? Last time I went was about 4 years ago but I remember them doing really good chips, and if you got the right person serving you got a massive portion (of chips). Called Ocean Breeze, I think
Guest Col city fan Posted 19 November 2013 Posted 19 November 2013 'The Ocean' on Aylestone/Lutterworth Road is a super chippy.
indierich06 Posted 19 November 2013 Posted 19 November 2013 'The Ocean' on Aylestone/Lutterworth Road is a super chippy. Still go there when I'm back home, it's about a 5 minute walk from my house - straight down there from Leicester Train Station, get home and scoff the lot, then down the Black Horse for a skinful.
ADK Posted 19 November 2013 Posted 19 November 2013 Is there anywhere not in Scotland that does battered Haggis and chips? Love that.

Should try the food at the Black Horse, I'd recommend it.
absolutelegend Posted 19 November 2013 Posted 19 November 2013 For anyone in the Coalville Thringstone area Ruby's is the best. I'll go with this, has been really good for years.
Unabomber Posted 19 November 2013 Posted 19 November 2013 I'll go with this, has been really good for years. Rammed every Friday and Saturday, and the portions are massive!
Bert Posted 19 November 2013 Posted 19 November 2013 None down here sell it, it's a Northern thing you see I had chips and gravy outside the valley this season though?

SOCCERROO FOX Posted 19 November 2013 Posted 19 November 2013 You mean 'hot dog'? Not sure if it's a gag or serious question. Googled and the place has a website and it's the same place.
indierich06 Posted 20 November 2013 Posted 20 November 2013 I had chips and gravy outside the valley this season though? I live in Charlton and I can also confirm that Lamby is talking bollocks as usual.
absolutelegend Posted 21 November 2013 Posted 21 November 2013 I'm having chippy dinner tonight. Will most certainly be the highlight of my day. I'm currently torn between fish (cod) or s&k pie. If fish I'll have peas, if pie then beans. I will prob spend most of the afternoon deciding.

MrsJohnMurphy Posted 21 November 2013 Posted 21 November 2013 Braunstone Chippy on Turnbull Drive gets my vote, superb chicken or lamb shish kebabs, top hygiene rating. And usually a couple of coppers or firemen in there getting their lunch.
SystonFox Posted 22 November 2013 Posted 22 November 2013 Today's catch Syston Rothley Bains in Birstall (donner curry! Awesome) Grimsby Buckmister In no order
