I know we generally have a few young internationals but its quite impressive that Stankevicius has made his full international debut at 18 without playing higher than Under 18's level. Lithuania aren't the best but they're not an awful side so he must have a fair bit about him. He'll probably still end up in non-league football though!  :P

I've heard some, admittedly not many, glowing reports about this guy from people who watch the youth sides on here.

Maybe we've got a little gem on our hands.

Having watched some Lithuanian Premier League football last year in Vilnius I wouldn't say that it serves as any great indicator of him being anything special!

Well that's true of many countries. You'd hardly say the Belgian Pro League is great yet look at their national team. As I said, Lithuania aren't great but they're not exactly minnows of World football

They're not on the same level as San Marino put it that way. I'd genuinely put them in with teams like Northern Ireland, Armenia, Montenegro.

I remember they had a fairly decent Qualifying campaign a few years ago

Let's hope he turns out better than Marko Futacs, someone who gets in for a mediocre national side yet was the absolute pits for us

Jamie Marko has never played for the full Hungary side though, so Stankevicius is already 1 step ahead

You were in Vilnius and you wasted your time watching football ?

The Belgian League is a million times higher standard than the Lithuanian one! You only have to see that quite a few Belgian teams consistently do ok in European competitions. Lithuania are minnows.

We had about 4 or 5 days there and it wasn't a waste of time at all, it was hilarious. This was a Premier League fixture and the ticket office was some old woman sat in the back of a car with the window halfway down and a laptop on the back seat!
