Sheffield Wednesday 2 1 Leicester City

Not sure how much has been said on the Knockaert substitution but here's my view on it.

It's a 'tactical' decision that cost us 3 points. We looked dangerous every time Knockaert was on the ball, feeding in Vardy, Nugent and even Dyer at times. He made things click and support Wasilewski well enough. He scored a pearler of a goal. Mattock couldn't handle him and had to hack him down, resulting in a yellow card just before half time. So what do we do? Take away any threat we could possess down the right. A left back on a yellow, who can't tackle and getting dogs abuse from us, up against Knockaert - walking red card if you ask me...

I agreed with bringing Hammond on as Sheffield Wednesday broke time after time through the centre of the park and Hammond put a stop to that but we had NO width. One of the strikers should have gone, not Knockaert. Terrible decision, we had no shape and no balance after that.

Can't argue with any of that.

If Knockaert had stayed on I really do believe Mattock would have been sent off.

still top, thats all that matters. hope for a reaction at brighton.

To stay top we're going to need a good set of results thtoughout December, we could have had a cushion had we won last night.

Two awful performances in 4 games is something to worry about but not get too carried away with.

I think last seasons awful run is still in people's  minds so they are almost expecting the worst.

Last nights substitutions seemed to me like some of the awful decisions we saw during that run last season.

Taking Knocky off makes no sense, playing Hammond when you're chasing a game seems strange and does anyone really believe that Schlupp is capable of turning a game?

Brighton, Burnley & QPR should all play in a way that will allow us to play at our best.

Schlupp to me seems the player who always chooses the easy option. Last night i watched him like an eagle when he came on and he literally did nothing... he just did the easy pass and gave the ball away a lot. Not got a problem with the lad personally but i wouldn't bat an eyelid if he didn't play again for Leicester (as a striker). He fills a job at left back and usually does an OK job but that's it

Still top, and that's good. An extremely disappointing defeat, given our promising start. We could have done with at least a point., but it's not the end of the world, and like all other teams, we will lose more.

On the wing, we need more back up, so the January window will be important to us. Pearson needs to correct that.

It is a little worrying that we are not taking our chances, when we should, so it is possible we need to add to that department also, but the January window tends to not throw up the best players, so we are probably looking at loan players. Kasper's form appears to be indifferent  of late, and I have always felt that he doesn't have much of a challenge with Conrad, and so is apt to be a little complacent.

Yes, we can all make such reasoning's as I have just done, but it is easy for us us to do, in the comfort of an armchair, or sat at a computer desk, but not so easy for the manager, who is hand's on, and is in daily touch with his players, so he must see things from a different perspective.

I stated  that I would stick behind N.P. until the end of the season, and shall remain as good as my word. If I can do this, then anyone can, so let's all get behind him and the team. For the noisy chanters among our ranks, why not chant the manager's name, instead of the players? Just a thought.

Finally, I would like to remind people, that nothing is won, or lost, until the fat lady sings. Let us support the manager, and the players, until we know what fate awaits us this season. Let us wait until then to either celebrate, or criticize players and management.

Up the City.  :scarf:

we needed that any way. we capitalused on other teams slip ups last week, would have been nice to have a cushion but last time we went top we lost as well. a win at brighton will show we have grown and then I will start to believe we have a real chamce this year.

We were not as bad as some are saying. I personally think it is born out of frustration, the fact that we have yet to be outplayed this season but still have 4 defeats.

Vardy missed a sitter of a one v one, Nuge missed virtually an open goal, and the end product of Dyer was its usual poor self.

The game reminded me a lot of Forest to be honest. The opposition getting the run of the ball, scoring their only proper chances, and us having more than enough to not only grab a point but get all 3.

All in all, a disappointing evening result wise but not from a performance perspective.

What i will say is we always seem to have the problem of the 'Opposition taking their only chances (s)'.  Do any of you think this is down to our poor finishing?? And that Nuge and Vardy are great runners, but poor finishers???

I say this a lot but the opposition always seem to score with their first shot on target against us. Would be intrigued to see how often this happens

It is the difference in quality.

Nuge and vardy need 3-4 chances before they stick one away.

We create so so many chances that eventually nuge will put one away, but it isn't good enough. We need a better finisher.

Agree with this in general. We weren't that bad. 16 shots I think I read, it's far from appalling, the biggest failure of our team was that we wasted what opportunities we had to score either with poor finishing or not getting the final ball right. There was plenty of other faults with the performance but this was the biggest IMO.

Personally felt a draw was a fair result but in tight games you really have to get it right in both penalty areas where it matters most and we didn't in either.

I disagree. I feel that our wingers were largely sidelined, allowing sheff w to overrun us in the middle and boss the game as the first half developed. In retrospect we showed the same old error away to a physical team. We should have started with Hammond is a 433.

I don't think he sacking helped us.

I believe we would've strolled it if he'd still been in charge, they had lost all hope, belief and the fans had given up.

As it was, they clearly had a new lease of life and they were massively up for it. The crowd backed them all game and their players responded to it. It was just unfortunate timing for us, although we still should've been good enough to beat them.
