Singing Section

Please could somebody fill me in some information.

 

Is there such thing "Officially" ?

 

I seem to remember that somebody mentioned that next to the away fans was the "singing section" 

Is this the official or unofficial term for that area based on the facts its the area of the stands that make the most noise?

 

Is there a governing group for this area if this "singing section" is official?

 

 

If the singing section is unofficial and named just because of the atmosphere, Could we create an official "Singing section" (The whole ground should be the singing section but unfortunately we know that this is no longer the case at all, we are more of a family club now than have ever been) And with the club looking to focus more on a family appeal, we are slowly but surely creaking towards the state of ipswich!

 

(Long way to go to hear a pin drop though..)

 

It seems like Leicester are just drowning out the club by putting more and more family deals everywhere, K block is all families from the middle down, and it's depressing frankly. 

 

We need more vocal fans in this area to really lift the atmosphere, 

If 5,000 fans sing together, but are spread around the ground, it makes no atmosphere, however...

An official "Singing section" of 5,000 fans together, would replicate some of the best in this division, and the division upstairs for atmosphere.

Obviously pricing is an issue.... 

 

Am I barking up the wrong tree or does this already exist?

 

What can we do as a group to improve the atmosphere, because it's clear the club wont help us, much the opposite infact.

Nothing official as far as I know. It's been tried before and generally has short term succes before petering out.

Well people tried to get one going in the Family Stand from what I remember, but the club's booting them all out of there because it's 'families only' apparently now. Other than that, there have been various attempts to get regular singing sections going, but it never seems to come to much. Not sure why.

It petered out because the club have proven on many occasions they have no interest in sustaining a decent singing section.

 

I'd like to hope this could change one day and that fans will eventually co-operate with the club in allowing such a thing to happen, but I don't see that being any time soon.

So really the only thing stopping all the vocal fans buying the non season ticket seats closest to the away fans in K block, is the price?

 

Because other than the price surely there is no excuse for people not to move near to the atmosphere, I've seen a few people on here who sit in the corner directly opposite to the away fans, complaining about the atmosphere? So if everyone that wanted to sing just bought tickets in the same area, it would be easy? we just need people to go a bit deeper and buy the ticket.

Have a read of Filbo Spirit. Like I say it's very much early days with them yet but they seem to tick the right boxes.

What you on about "frowned upon", if you want to sing then sing, no one will stop you unless it's bad language and in an area designed for children, 

it pisses me off so many going on about singing and standing, go in the areas where you can and stop being a tool.

Idealy the Kop is the place for it and am pretty sure that was the intntion when the ground opened.

 

The people that went in L1 went for one reason atmospher and the closer you are to the away fans the better it is.

The club could make any area a singing area but most fans won't sing now.

 

So if you really want the atmosphere best bet is move 2 L1 or as close as you can.

If all the kop moved that sang you would soon have a huge noise.

 

As for doing it in the family stand the were nevr gonna put up with that.

They can't stop anyone singing or to a point standing but they can stop you going in the family stand without kids.

Lets be honest who really wants to take the kids when the guy nxt door has had a few and singing Who the fvcking hell are.

Or songs to that effect.

 

To me that whole east stand should be full of fans that want to sing and taunton the oppersition (not in an aggressive way/physical)

 

 

people have to want to be in an area if the club pick an area it wont make a difference.

If everyone on this board got a couple of friends to move that would sing you would see a vast difference.

Saying that tonight should be great and people won't care till we play charlton and it is dead.

 

The other reason the kop is so flat you can;t here 500 singing at the other end so most feel no reason to reply.

If they were 20yrd from them they would here and reply.

 

Thats one reason the Kop at Filbo was so good with the away fans in pen 1

 

You would also get better sound if they double deck the kop and east stand as the kop was at Filbo.

Bloody hell, another debate about atmosphere!

As we were shown at the millwall match, if 50-60 fans want to sing then a fantastic atmosphere will be created, it's as simple as that!

Thanks to our Belgian friends we all know that C block is the place to be!!!

There are 10 of us at the back of the N block,

4 dads and 6 kids (12-16 yr olds), we're not going to get 10 tickets together in L block are we. Also to be honest, the family stand is cheaper and as I am buying a season ticket for two ( me and my son) cost is a factor.

Me and two of the other blokes I am with were part of the original 30 or so that stood at the back of the L block in the early days ( when we got hassled to sit down most games). One of my mates even got a half season ban.

let's face it, we're not going to be able to stand in N block for much longer. They may even be extra kind and leave us for this season. But they will do something different for next season to stop it. I think me and my mate will be moving to L or K next season

Everyone who wants to sing move to K. Prices are steeper in J but aren't in L and K so that's not an issue and there are plenty of Non sth in K so at the end of the season replace those seats with singers and there we have it.

I don’t post that often on here but I had to chip in on this one, modern day football atmosphere or the lack of it, is a subject I’m very passionate about – so apologies in advance for my babbling!

 

I can’t believe how many of these ‘atmosphere related’ threads spring up on this forum. It would seem that there is a real desire by a lot of our fans to create a positive atmosphere at the KP.

 

Despite L Block being our noisiest part of the ground and credit to everyone up there for actually trying to make some atmosphere - I get sick of seeing the same old “If you want noise go to L block†as if that is the answer. As the last poster correctly pointed out, to get near L block you have to sit in either K or J where ticket prices in these areas, say compared to the corner next to SK1, are about £10 more expensive for non-season ticket holders! For some reason this is never mentioned… I’m pretty sure for ‘Platinum’ marked games, if you want to sit near the halfway line in the east stand you are looking at £40 a ticket. This will no doubt put people off wanting to sit in this area to build on L (and K to an extent).

 

Our ‘singing section’ is therefore limited to a few hundred people who will usually get out sung due to limited numbers through no fault of their own.  For me the only way an improved atmosphere will be created is for a ‘movement’ to say the Corner next to SK1. The tickets in this area are some of the cheapest in the ground and there are always plenty of seats at least a good 2000-3000.

 

It’s a shame our layout isn’t like pride park where the away fans are behind goal so home fans can sit in the corner (i.e. where our away fans sit now). But unfortunately the do-gooders in charge at Leicester want the away fans to be sandwiched by the family stand and massively expensive seating to deter large numbers of the noisy fans they hate from sitting near the away fans.

 

I know ideas like this have been suggested before but it needs likeminded people to actually follow up. I know the Fosse Boys sat in that area and whilst I never actually joined their group (and yes I know they annoyed people for one reason or another) I did sit in that area to try and help create something. It just baffles me that in this day and age where we have every means of communication at our disposal, we as fans can’t organise what should be a fairly simple thing!? We don’t need the club’s authority or acceptance that’s what I don’t understand. Do we not simply need a few hundred fans to say right let’s move here next game and try it out and maybe more will follow?

You are 100% right.

L1 will never be what people want it to be because of the price of tickets in J.

Sk1 is the logical area, but getting 1000 people to move out of L1 just isn't going to happen because people think that to create an atmosphere you need to be next to the away fans, which is bollocks.

There are not enough people willing to stand up and be the ones to start something, people want to join these things when they are good not when they are just starting.

I personally think we have some of the best fans in the country, if we could get EVERY SINGLE fans who wants to stand up in 1 section of the ground together we would have the best home atmosphere in the country.
