At least there trying something.It's a part of the ground that could take alot of new people.Most of the back 3 rows of the entire kop already stand,so there's a few hundred already.Ideas like this shouldn't be laughed at or brushed under the carpet,as our currant situation is dire and getting worse all the time.

I stand at the back of the N Block. We had to move for the Man City game.

Believe me I hope I'm wrong, I really would love a better atmosphere. I go to football for the Banter, the Atmosphere and because I support City.

If I just wanted to watch Quality football, I would stay at home and watch Sky.

Major problem. I have absolutely zero issue with people not wanting to sing, just wanting to watch the game. Each to their own, but these people pitching up in singing areas are strangling the atmosphere.

I have a mate in Germany who went to watch Dynamo Dresden in Aachen. They had Ultrás going round the away end asking those who weren't chanting for ID to prove they were from Dresden. Fortunately for him (as he's a Dortmund fan) his mate was at Uni there so they let him off. Not suggesting we start having Jobber search people on the way into L1 but seriously, it's a problem.

If safe standing ever comes to England the only feasible place for us is the Kop. They will never make L1 standing because it's 1 block isolated as the majority of the East Stand sit plus the police would never allow it. If everyone currently in L&N moved to SK1 as has been suggested the potential for growth in numbers is there. Yes it may not be near the away fans but are you there to support your team or goad away fans?

Hate to say it but the complexion of the average football supporter has changed so much that I worry we will never get the atmosphere back. Sorry to be so pessimistic, but the game against Man City said it all. There were thousands near me sitting, not joining in with chants, who only got really excited when Sam Bailey came out. (Nothing against Sam Bailey by the way).

I can't have a go at them, its their choice what they want to do.

But the gentrification of football has (whether you like it or not) shifted the average supporter away from the male working class spectrum to the family middle class spectrum.

To many (especially the clubs) this might be ideal, and I am not going to say they must change their view of football.

It's just that I remember the make up of the Kop in the 70's especially, was very different to the crowds today.

I was holiday in Copenhagen earlier this year and caught a game there. 18,000 crowd, fantastic atmosphere. Crowd of mainly 18-40 yr old blokes drinking lots of beer.

The atmosphere is created by the crowd. NOT the club or even the team, its the crowd and I just feel the make up of the crowd is just not one that will lead to atmospheres of old.

Sorry to be pessimistic again.

Would love a noisy and yes hostile atmosphere, but I now fear it really is a thing of history.

The kop actually sung then. Such bollocks about moving the kop to the away end. When they sing, and by sing I mean more than 25 people stood at the back like twats trying to get things going, then you can hear them.

I would look into moving into SK1 for next season as I was looking into moving into L or K next season anyway because I feel its the end of N block because of the stewards. Being in N block we don't really have anything to lose so maybe all us N blockers who stand and want to sing should move to the top of SK1. Then if all the people in who want to stand and in SK2, SK3, SK4 all move to the back of SK1 as well we may start something and may even get a few of L and K moving over. 

 

The only way its going to start though if people in the KOP are willing to get the word round and us in N block get it around too.

Don't disagree with that and it's a fairly unique part of the English fan culture, but let's face it - nowadays 90% of the banter is shite, lacking wit or creativity.  "Who are ya", "Ee-zeh", "Your support is fvcking shit" etc.

Granted there are genuine examples every now and then where something funny or different comes along, shouting "Zeeeeeeeeeeeats" at the Geordies and stuff like that - but it's not the be all and end all. 90 minutes of 100s of like-minded blokes singing traditional Leicester songs and supporting their team, not giving a toss about what some wankers from another part of the country are doing 100 yards away, would be much better.

One of my favourites was years ago at Filbert street.

We were playing Newcastle soon after their chairman had been secretly filmed describing Newcastle women as 'dogs'.

As the Newcastle team came out, the Kop sang 'Who let the dogs out'

The Newcastle fans actually applauded the Kop.

Doesn't sound funny as I type, but if you were there it really was a classic.

This doesn't have to be an L1 vs Kop debate. The problem is within the kop itself. I was there on tuesday & I had fans in the block on my left singing one song, fans in the block to me right singing another, and fans in my block singing neither of the two.

 

If we could get a section (and i endorse SK1 as that area) where all the kopites could get together, that would be a start. I don't think anyone can disagree with that?

 

After time some L1 fans could trickle back. Who knows?

 

If the club endorsed the section too it would help i.e not sending the stewards up to hassle us and if people want to buy tickets they are made aware that this area is for fans who want to sing and stand. This would be better for everyone as people who prefer to sit aren't amoungst a group of people who want to stand.

The club will never endorse standing.

It is an all seater stadium and you are supposed to sit.

If they endorsed it they risk the HSE shutting that part of the ground. (or local council)

 

I'm sure the club would love a hostile atmosphere (not violent) and not just happy clappers.

I am also sure that they will have taken legal advice about such a move of endorsing anything like what you suggest.

 

I also agree with weller in tights 12 to 13k in filbo new how to make a noise.

Infact a full pen 2 in full voice could make more noise than the kp could make.

If safe standing ever did materialise naturally it would be put behind the goal. I would be straight back in the South Stand. You can't beat being behind the goal your team are shouting at in the second half.

when I sit in K1 it's a race to get seats at the top, because they are in demand from the vocal fans, so why don't we just cover all of K1 with vocal fans? Top to bottom. if you want to sing, get your tickets in K block, GET THEM EARLY. 

 

If you wait for a week, the bottom seats are taken up by the miserable bastards... 

 

and it's okay saying all move to SK1.... but unless everyone who wants to sing, gets their ticket on the day they go on sale, we will have the same problem that the miserable fvckers get tickets first, and drown out the singers...

 

If tickets go on sale on a tuesday.. buy your ticket on the tuesday, and all select a specific area?

As I have said before, if our ground layout was like pride park where the away fans were behind the goal, that would free up that whole corner and you could potentially get 3000 - 4000 singers and tickets would be cheap, that would be fantastic. The ground is the way it is to specifically deter the 'troublemakers' as the club see them i.e vocal support from being near the away fans by out pricing people. Why would I pay £40 to sit in the east stand to watch us play Forest when I can sit in SK1 or the corner next to it for like £28?

The pricing is pathetic but hey that’s modern football. It’s because you are getting a ‘half way line view’ so the club whack the prices up. Don’t get me wrong I take my hat off to you guys up there making the noise it’s much needed, I just wish it was a larger (and cheaper) area.

 

They will never move the away fans. If we did go up we would sell out most games anyway so the club wouldn’t care. As long as bums are on seats and there is no trouble they are happy.

 

If I had a choice yes I’d sit near the away fans but for the reasons mentioned above it just isn’t feasible. If it was, then I guess L would have grown far larger than it is now over the last 10 years! I don’t care where I sit personally; it’s a modern stadium with great views all around.

Could start a campaign to 'unite the kop' and get everyone who wants to stand and sing in 1 area.

Then if people in L1 like the look of it they will join.
