This needs to happen. Knockaert has never been a winger in a 4-4-2 and never will be a winger in a 4-4-2. He is an absolute liability played out wide but in the first half he was the only player who looked like causing Man City problems. Pearson needs to realise that he cannot convert Knockaert into a run of the mill wide player like he tried with Ben Marshall. Knockaert needs to be allowed more creative freedom and to get on the ball more. This is our best option for me. I think we would batter teams playing like this.

Like someone said, he really needs to be central. Too often last night he was just given it (they probably know he's capable to just pass it to him when he's isolated thinking he'll be fine) and had to play his way out of trouble. I'm not defending his giving the ball away with passes or naive defending because I think under Pearson his decision making will improve.

If we could fit him in centrally ahead of 2 deeper centre mids I think he'd benefit much more. He'd take it past players in more dangerous areas than he does out wide, he'd win more free kicks and he'd have more opportunities to get in the box and get shots and passes off. Really think half of his talent it wasted out wide and he's relied on to cover the full back which, while he needs to learn, isn't the best at.

Wouldn't mind seeing him given a go in the hole, but anyone who has watched us a few times this season knows we are absolute dogshit without wingers and full backs, so it's well off the menu for me.

Besides I think he'd get crowded out a lot in the middle, his tendency to hold onto the ball for too long would just leave him running into a wall of defenders everytime. When he's on the wing, he beats his man then hits the byline and is forced to release the ball - if it wasn't for the byline you can imagine he'd just keep the ball until he loses it.

2nd name on the teamsheet for me. Dyer first. Dyer is a terrorist on the left wing. But Knocky is the first player we've had in years and years who can consistently beat his man with pure skill and dribbling ability.

To me this thread emphasises why if I was manager, I'd be looking at a winger before a striker.

how has Pearson not realised he's better playing in the middle?

Because he wants to play 4-4-2, and him playing the "the middle" doesn't fit.

I don't think we're good enough to play 3 at the back, so I'd play one up top

James/King       Drinky

Vardy            Knocky             Dyer

Teams fear playing against him and he even skinned a couple of players last night - albeit to no avail.

- Why Pearson opts to leave him out time and time again is beyond me.

This was the other day. Stated he gives possession away too much and he's not a player we need in the side to get promoted. Deleted both times.

Not the player? If I recall, when against Brighton he made an instant impact when we were shocking in the first half against them!

He's our only player that can beat someone with skill

Maybe if the manager dropped that slob Nugent and played Knockeart in the hole, because he is clearly not a winger, then he wouldn't leave his full back exposed.

Yes! Would love to see him play in Nugent's so called 'dropping off' role (in other words an excuse for his lack of goals). Unfortunately, we have nobody to fill in on the right side and it's too attacking for Pearson.

Would you start him against QPR in what is the biggest game of the season?

Undoubtedly, he is the most skillful member of the squad, but through his errors, he cost us two goals last night.  All the neat tricks and bits of skill mean nothing if the end result is going 2-0 down.  Admittedly, on another day, he can be the difference, but it is increasingly coming across as a gamble, which I'm not sure we can afford to take against QPR.

Spot on.
