Corky Posted 27 December 2013 Posted 27 December 2013 Cup finals seem obvious, so my three are: Leicester 5-2 Sunderland- March 2000 (Possibly the high point of O'Neill's league matches with us, a fantastic display a week after winning the League Cup with a great hat-trick from Stanley and a potentially lethal strike partnership next to Heskey. Of course, this changed within a week but during the height of the Boring Leicester agenda this was so memorable. "Are you watching, Gregory?" rang around the ground near the end). Leicester 2-0 MK Dons- August 2008 (Doesn't seem so obvious but it was our first game outside of the top two divisions, a new manager in charge and plenty of nerves ahead of a trip to the unknown. As it was, a professional performance and result that became the hallmark of the season and also Pearson's tenures and began a progressive and pride-restoring two seasons following years of mediocrity, struggle and farce). Leicester 6-0 Ipswich- November 2012 (Leicester scoring six goals in a match just didn't happen. It was something other clubs did. We usually stopped at four, so to go beyond that and put a team to the sword was well worth savouring. Thankfully we only had to wait six weeks to do it again but to see the results page and Leicester 6 on the screen was a rare treat).
Guest Gist Posted 27 December 2013 Posted 27 December 2013 Only really started going down Citeh 2004 onwards so: Forest (A) 3-2 game last season - Still struggle to find words for it. Leeds (H) 1-0 League One game - Filbert Way was rocking, we'd bounced back and restored some pride. Cardiff (A) Play Off Semi - Yes I know it was a defeat, but it was just an incredible game of football. We'd came such a long way from the season before, was immensely proud despite being heartbroken!
Father Ted Posted 27 December 2013 Posted 27 December 2013 3-2 at Forest - honestly, you could not have written it 1-0 vs Leeds - League One season, Steve Howard 90th minute bullet header to all but secure promotion in front of a full house and mental celebrations Tough choice here but beating Forest 3-0 at home in our first play off season under Pearson, bodies were flying in L1. Honorable mentions to Blackpool away (2-1 win and flare), Derby away (2-0 win under Sven), Watford away this season, Middlesbrough home last season (surely a day like that will never happen again!)
whoareyaaa Posted 27 December 2013 Posted 27 December 2013 Arsenal 3-3 Leicester Great game Arsenal had so much quality on show and they didn't disappoint, cracking game and atmosphere. Bergkamp was a different class. Palace 1-2 Leicester Claridge last minute of injury time in extra time, promotion.. doesn't get much better. Charlton 1-2 Leiceste Fa Cup game and dion dublin scored in the last minute, crazy scenes in and out the ground.
Horibbly Wrong Posted 27 December 2013 Posted 27 December 2013 1 The Dennis Wise game with no away fans... 90 mins of singing "Dennis Wise what a w@nker.." 2 The MU match at home when I think it confirmed our relegation. The fans just sang their hearts out in the 2nd half it was like a wave of noise as fans stood 3 Every Wembley win, particularly the 1st
ithuriel Posted 27 December 2013 Posted 27 December 2013 This is a hard one so I'm going to go on games that live in the memory. Strangely all the same season and the football was not the greatest quite often. The play off game against Tranmere at home, when David Speedie and the Tranny goalkeeper got sent off, the atmosphere was electric. The Derby game at home, when Iwan Roberts got his hands on the match ball after three good goals and Jimmy Greaves had that song sung against him XD Still remember miss Leicester City talking to us at the front of the Kop, urging peeps to sing, wonder what happened to her? Finally, the play off final against Derby when we beat them, such a beautiful summery day, God, I can still picture the day in my memory apart from setting off for some strange reason XD.
Fox92 Posted 27 December 2013 Posted 27 December 2013 Grimsby 1-2 Leicester (2002) Never forget my trip to Grimsby. Just a great day topped off with the greatest live goal scored by a Leicester player, I've ever seen. Nottingham Forest 2-3 Leicester (2007) Amazing game giving them a goal, being 1-2 down in the dying minutes then scoring two late on. Leicester 6-1 Huddersfield Town (2013) Really on top of our form, and controlled the game. Thought it was going to be our season. Maybe this season! *(and anytime we beat Sheffield Wednesday) Special mentions to Cheltenham away (we were just too good for them) and Leeds at home, amongst others. No doubt I'll remember some more games later on.
Spiritwalker Posted 27 December 2013 Posted 27 December 2013 1. Cambridge play-off semi 2. Derby play-off final 3. Palace play-off final
Vlad the Fox Posted 27 December 2013 Posted 27 December 2013 A couple more that stand out for me that I haven't seen mentioned. City 3-3 Liverpool, Peake got 2 and banks 1, all three screamers. And City 3-0 Man U, all the goals coming in the first 20, against a united team that was 10 points clear at the top of div 1.
steveherbe Posted 27 December 2013 Posted 27 December 2013 No-one has mentioned city 4 man city 3. Frank Large, Rodney Fern and all that. Cmon you old 'uns, back me up here!
One Legged Beaver Posted 27 December 2013 Posted 27 December 2013 Don't get to too many games as I live abroad but I'd have to go with:1. Leicester 2 - 1 Coventry (2002) My first trip to the Walkers and first victory I'd ever witnessed with us going 1 down and then Taggart equalising and Deano scoring a last minute bullet header!2. Leicester 1 - 0 Watford (2013)Possibly the greatest atmosphere I've experience in my life when Nugent scored and the minutes that followed that, although how the mighty fell within the next few days...... 3. Leicester 4 - 3 Fulham (2013) Took a few Uni mates to this game for a laugh seeing as I'd taken them to the previous game against Derby and Knocky had won their hearts over that game. It was just a fiver each and my word was it value for money when Vardy showed off his basketball tekkers to set Nuge off down the right and whip in the perfect ball Lloyd! To put it bluntly I just like late winners in our favour.
Simonb Posted 27 December 2013 Posted 27 December 2013 1. 2-1 v derby at Wembley 2. 3-3 v arsenal at home.. bergkamp hattrick.. late come back 3. 5-2 v Sunderland. . Collymore and heskey looked immense. . Thought massive things were coming to Leicester then heskey left
