Guest MattP Posted 27 December 2013 Posted 27 December 2013 He needs to get playing football fast. His fitness levels at the QPR game look ridiculous for a professional sportsman his age. Out on loan, I dread to think the money he is on considering what he has achieved.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 27 December 2013 Posted 27 December 2013 He's better than Waghorn. Can play in a number of positions and provides decent cover. Hasn't had a decent run of games which is why we haven't seen the best of him. Not in my opinion. At least Waggy has shown us he knows where the net is (even if it was a few seasons back)
The Year Of The Fox Posted 27 December 2013 Posted 27 December 2013 I love Jeff he gives 100% and its always nice to see someone from your own academy. When he came on at QPR he didn't stop running and he couldn't barely walk at the end. Fair play to him and I wouldn't say no to a loan move away for a bit it may do him good. But I wouldn't want him to go permanently. I actually liked him at LB and would send him out on loan for the season to a team who would play him in that position. But I think its obvious Jeff doesn't want a career in that position. Him and Dyer is a deadly combination though A late contender for Funniest Post of the Year?
Dickov22 Posted 27 December 2013 Posted 27 December 2013 Both are pretty average players at this level Dickov. I don't see either making any great impact on games. When Schlupp started against Derby in the League Cup, he looked so out of his depth. Once Nugent came on, you could see we had a striker on that knew what he was doing and the role he had to play. People have a go at Nugent, but he's a very intelligent striker and links up with midfield so well. Yeah I agree- both Waghorn and Schlupp are average. Difference is, Waghorn's had so many chances, and he's still crap. Schlupp's still relatively inexperienced so at least has some potential? That's why I'd rather keep him and get rid of Waggy. Agree on Nugent- I'm a big fan and cannot understand the level of criticism on here relating to him. He's not been at his best this season, but last two games he's done fine. Not in my opinion. At least Waggy has shown us he knows where the net is (even if it was a few seasons back) Has he??
Father Ted Posted 27 December 2013 Posted 27 December 2013 Interesting that shakespear said that he wants to see schlupp fight for his place. Load of rubbish really. It's been quite obvious that Pearson has never liked Schlupp as a striker. Plays him at left back but always brings Konchesky straight back in when fit again no matter how well Schlupp's been playing. If I was Jeff, I'd be pretty pissed off as well, Wood injured, Waghorn out on loan, Nugent playing crap yet he's still 4th choice to Pearson. Send him out on loan with a recall clause should Konch get injured.

Guest Posted 27 December 2013 Posted 27 December 2013 incredible! You guys can't tell talent until it's playing somewhere else. Lloyd Dyer is fast and that's it - yet we all love him at this level. Schlupp has so much more. Good job it's NP who decides how long a player stays.
Bayfox Posted 27 December 2013 Posted 27 December 2013 I thought schlupp looked decent when he came on against man city. He did Lescott at one point and I was willing to try him and vardy at qpr. glad we didnt cuz against qpr when he came on he looked lost. No effort, no clue, kept looking to the bench for direction. I mean ffs you have just come on close the player down. those 2 passes out to dyer!!! Shocking. He may go elsewhere and do well but I wonder for his own sake he may need to move. Maybe the man utd thing has effected him and not for the best.
Spiritwalker Posted 27 December 2013 Posted 27 December 2013 Always been a supporter of Jeff, probably because he's come through our system. However for his sake I think it's time he moved on. Due to his versatility he is a useful squad player, but he has not progressed enough to warrant a start at LB or as a striker when we have fully fit squad. Comparisons have been made with McKay, but he never played a 1st team game whereas Jeff has had several chances to show what he can do. If he does leave I hope he goes on to do well, it's not his fault if he's the best paid young player in this division. I think he will go on to be a decent L1 stiker or lower end Champ LB.
theessexfox Posted 27 December 2013 Posted 27 December 2013 I reckon the time we spent developing him as a left-back should have been spent coaching him into a winger... for me it is clear he doesn't cut it as a forward or a full-back at this level. He has many attributes needed for a winger, and it is the place in the squad where we have the least depth.
Vardinhio Posted 27 December 2013 Posted 27 December 2013 He looks disinterested now and he made some shocking decisions v QPR in the final third when some simple passes would have finished the game off. He has never really made the impact we hoped so it might be best for him to move on.
tontolcfc Posted 27 December 2013 Posted 27 December 2013 I hope he doesn't go anywhere permanent this season, I still feel he's shown enough "promise" and I like him at left back, but Konchy has played too well for him to get in, I can understand he might feel frustrated and possibly a little jealous of Liam too. All I would say to him is hang in there and trust Nigel
Babylon Posted 27 December 2013 Posted 27 December 2013 incredible! You guys can't tell talent until it's playing somewhere else. Lloyd Dyer is fast and that's it - yet we all love him at this level. THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 27 December 2013 Posted 27 December 2013 I had a dream once me and Jeff moved into a 1 bedroom flat in suburban London and just sat in bed the whole time snogging and eating spicy papa johns in a bunkbed wearing nothing but polka dot neckerchiefs

Schlupp has so much more. Good job it's NP who decides how long a player stays. What a ridiculous comment to make about Lloyd. If that was the case why don't we give Usain Bolt a contract? Lloyd is a very good championship player. His pace is his biggest attribute, but his delivery and finishing are not as bad as people think, just average in comparison to his actual pace. People criticize his final ball.....but that is probably because he gets so many more chances to put balls into the box compared to other players.
Jimmy Posted 27 December 2013 Posted 27 December 2013 Schlupp is as quick as Dyer, crosses better then him and shoots better then him and unlike Dyer is decent when he has time to think about what he should do too, Dyer is only decent when he just has to hit it. Lloyd also has a tendancy to go and hide between the strikers knowing he will never get the ball there, especially after ****ing up. I want to see Jeff get 5-10 games on the left wing

Grewks Posted 27 December 2013 Posted 27 December 2013 bollocks same as that twat Josh on RL last night, Knocky has 51 key passes (pass leading to a shot) to Lloyd's 31 yet Dyer is apparently reliable and Knocky a liability I think the term would be 'consistency' rather than 'reliability'. Lloyd will always give you 10/10, will always have the threat of his pace. For me Knockaert is the most technically gifted player we have 'owned' since the O'neill era, but is inconsistent, which is common with most flair players. Despite both being wingers, they are total opposites. Anyway, back to the Dyer and Schlupp comparisons. If Schlupp is faster than Dyer....then Konchesky must have been playing in Dyer's shirt this season. Schlupp is unfit, looks overweight and is nowhere near the pace that Dyer has. Schlupp got beat for pace a couple of times last year at left back, whereas the only player i have seen give lloyd a run for his money is Anya from Watford.

Knocky isn't a winger though, its only Pearson's insistence on 442 that means he has to play there

I want to see Jeff get 5-10 games on the left wing Simply not true. Jeff is better at crossing and shooting based on what? Lloyd is a proven Championship player and a key part of our squad, the two arn't even worthy of comparison.
Grewks Posted 27 December 2013 Posted 27 December 2013 Knocky isn't a winger though, its only Pearson's insistence on 442 that means he has to play there Well there you have it. No point in playing a formation which has got you top of the league.....and 9 points in the 3 games played against the relegated BPL sides.

Same thing happened to this point last season, what happened from February last year when he was too stubborn to change
Grewks Posted 27 December 2013 Posted 27 December 2013 Same thing happened to this point last season, what happened from February last year when he was too stubborn to change He has changed it this season, and will do if he has to. The problem last season was we could not change personnel. This season with the addition of Hammond and GTF we can play with a defensive midfielder and a center forward, which we could not do last year.
Guest Posted 27 December 2013 Posted 27 December 2013 Grewks, I like your love for Lloyd. I like him too because he has passion and he plays all out for our club but his skill is speed he is an average crosser and a poor shooter. And if we could get Usain Bolt we would. He'd terrify championship more than Dyer.
