Right,me and a mate are off to see Kasabian in June.As I don't come from Leicester would like to get FT members recommendations on

1/best curry houses

2/real ale pubs

These towards the centre f possible.

Here is the hard bit.Planning on coming Friday night for the above and can get accomodation in town.

Saturday night is a mare, nearest accomodation is in Oadby some 4 and a bit miles from Victoria Park.could walk it,but I assume taxis are going to be hard to come by.is there a late bus route?

Cheers guys.

Taxis shouldn't be tok hard to get. I'd recommend Club, they're fairly cheap. I'd say staying in Oadby from Vicky Park isn't bad at all.

The Old Horse is opposite Vicky Park. Other Real Ale p;aces The kings Head, The pub, (New Walk) The Slug and lettuce has some The Salmon and London Road has the Loaded Dogm The Wellington and The Hind opposite the station. There a few curry restaurants along there too.

£12/15 at a guess. Although most of London road will be closed that day (as it was for the radio 1 gig). So you'll only get as far as stoneygate.

The marriot in Enderby may a bit pricey, but your close to the park and ride there.

Probably cost around £10/12 in a taxi. There's loads of curry houses down on London road which is only a few minutes walk from the venue.

Once your at Victoria park your within walking distance to the town centre where there's plenty of boozers and plenty of boozers on the way into it. So at least you won't be needing to get cans to and from places.

Cheers that's useful ,best get this hotel booked .Nearly all gone for 21st.

If the hotel has no rooms left, the Marriott hotel has a few rooms left. Just booked one for some friends that are coming up that weekend.

Anyone who likes indian food I recommend a pub called Rifle Butts on Nottingham Rd.

It's only a little back street pub and its not a restaurant but the food there is the best I've ever had, proper traditionally cooked and its really well priced.

Get down to some of the pubs (most do curries) off Belgrave road..

Try the Clowes arm on Portsmouth road good pub/ restaurant..

Or

The paddy Martin inn ( Jamie Oliver visited for his show)

I'm Sussex based but luckily kipping at a mate's gaff, but :

Top of the A6 in Birstall now has a park and ride too (going off jonthefox's Enderby suggestion), and there's an ibis literally across the road. The bus should drop you off right in the city centre and it's a short mooch up London Road. Even if you don't fancy using the park and ride and just park up in the hotel carpark - buses run through Birstall from Leicester through the night 24/7 - the airport bus stops off there and will cost you a fraction of a taxi split in half, you can catch it and get dropped off on practically the same road as the hotel. All cheap and cheerful and should see you in town in about fifteen minutes.

As for pubs, the Lansdowne on London Road is the nads and is a stone's throw from Vicky Park. As said, the Pub is decent, a bit soulless but a great selection in there, Taps is superb as well but it's all inside which isn't ideal in the middle of June.

I'll be in the Lansdowne early doors getting suitably refreshed, I think. Curry House wise I always thought the Tiffin was cracking, been years since I set foot in there mind.

what day is the gig as I'll think you'll find the park and ride is the shitest in the country and has mon-fri running times. Double check before you use this as a plan.

Other options maybe the holiday inn at the kp.

the regency on london road. Although a bit pricey its walking distance.

theres a travel lodge in town now. Next to the casino.

What about the Premier Inn?  It's ugly, but it's cheap, lots of rooms & it couldn't be better placed.

The Tiffin is a good one, but I would suggest booking.  It's busy at the best of times.

Me and the missus are coming down from Scotchland for the Kasabian gig.

:scarf:

Given that thousands will be descending on the place, I doubt there will be any room in pubs or curry houses anywhere near Vicky Park, TBH.

Enjoy the gig though :)

Which is why I said you could also use the Ibis car park...

I meant the park and ride dont run sundays. Thats why I asked what day the gig was.

no idea if you can park in the ibis and get a normal bus on the a6 as I dont live in birstall.

but as you referenced the park and ride it implied that was your suggestion on a way into town. Fine if the gig is saturday.
