If we DO Go up ...

I know i'll get slated for this but threads like these really do feel like tempting fate.

Why can't people get excited a bit, we're 11 points clear with 16 games remaining. After the dross we've watched over the past 10 years cause people will be getting a bit excited.

I'm sure people writing stuff on a football forum won't have any bearing on the outcome of results. I'm sure Pearson and his staff will have the players feet firmly on the floor. Let's just enjoy it whilst we can as it's not every season you'll be sat at the top of a league 11 points clear.

The thing I don't get about threads like this is.... what's the point in discussing it?!

What is the point on discussing who we should sign if/when we get promoted or who we would like to play first. There's no point because if we don't get there then it's just a load of nonsense/hot air!

All of these things can be discussed when we get promoted. No-one is saying you can't get all excited about the prospect of playing Liverpool/Arsenal/Man United, they're just saying that it's pointless to do it at this stage. There is far more to be lost from discussing these things than there is to be gained so I don't see why we can't just all have some patience.

Enjoying this whilst we can is not an excuse either. Enjoying it while we can is turning up every week and enjoying the wins/finally seeing us look like a decent side, not speculating who we could play first or who we could sign.

i dont understand why we cannot talk about the prospect of playing in the premier league, even if we are to not make it, we are currently in a very strong position. football would be too boring if we couldnt dream about scenarios. its almost similar to say why make predictions about scores in games beforehand. although I do get the fact that we slumped last season at this stage, and that we shouldnt jump the gun....but currently we are in such a great position that we should be excited

Each to his own, you know! Some people like to be optimistic and want to dream a bit. Let them! The point is obviously to get excited at the prospect of glamourous opposition and more media attention. I'm probably a bit like you, not counting my chickens etc. but why go and kill off the enthusiasm, even if it's premature? Apart from the promotion to the Championship, there's been little to get excited about. And now that we're within touching distance of promotion to the Premier League, you're seriously telling people to not dream?

This thread is so cringeworthy its unreal. We have over 15 games left. Over 45 points up for grabs. Anything can still happen, multiple teams could go up. Some of our fans think the rest of the season is a minor formality and that the title is in the bag. Reality check people, we could still collapse, and what utter laughing stocks we will be if we do.

And Ian Stringer is leading the cringe charge by letting everybody know (including Pearson), that we are already up.  lol

I'm not telling people not 'to dream' (although I don't like that turn of phrase in relation to this - we're Leicester City not Exeter City, playing the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal should be the norm not some fairytale) but I'm just saying what's the point in actively discussing something that isn't guaranteed yet? Can't the enjoyment of our current position be that we're regularly winning and setting new records, not that we might play Liverpool in August?!

We can get excited about Premiership football when we know we'll be seeing Premier League football but for the mean time let's get excited by what we're doing in this league with this team. If not, why don't we all start discussing what our hopes are for Leicester City in the Champions League? Or who we'll sign for over £10million?! It's like discussing how we'll plan our day out at the FA Cup final when we're only in the last 16!

So I'm not 'killing off the enthusiasm'... more saying let's re-direct/re-channel the enthusiasm. No harm can come from enjoying this season for what it is then getting all excited about the rest when there's a 'p' next to our name on the league table. I can only hope the players are staying a hell of a lot more realistic and grounded than our supporter base.

I think people need to have a tad more faith in Pearson and the lads for once before you start with your bottling antics. We have bottled it only once last season, this season we have been alot better in grinding out results.

Sick of people moaning, when people mention promotion or the premiership. You need to believe for once and stop with your ususal same old Leicester bollocks. Why we never achieve anything because certain fans have the mentality that we're always gonna fook up towards the end.

Remember the Frazier Campbell Holiday thread ??? That Cardiff fan made you all look like mugs in may. Maybe that's why Cardiff went up because they actually believed for once unlike us.

We'd be laughing stocks with or without these threads. Man up.

Exactly, what does he expect if we don't go up now ?! Loads of morons like Watford, Forest, Derby, Cov and whoever will be on here laughing. So how do we respond, oh yes we might have bottled it but we expected too hence no threads regarding promotion and we have the last laugh because we knew all along.

Are you really worried about one thread amongst thousands on a football forum when the title clearly says IF we go up and the first post states "Ok I'm not tempting fate and I'm not saying we're up yet because obviously their still abit left to do but how exciting will it be when the fixtures get published next year and we could finally be in the premiership"?

I doubt opposition fans will root through pages of threads to find this and it's all hypothetical anyway. Plenty of us will have talked about possibilites of promotion next season, Hugo hasn't said we've won the league or walked to the title.

I'm guessing most of the people who "don't tempt fate, or there's a long way to go yet" haven't spoke about promotion down the pub or walking away after games then.

I'm not just referring to this thread. I'm referring in general to a huge chunk of our fans going on like we are champions already. On the radio, on the news, on here and just in every day life. It is an extremely dangerous attitude to have because that's when complacency sets in. Yes, we are in a good position, but we have some tough games ahead that we may well lose. Promotion is not even close to secured, and I just think people need to remember that.

Well said that man

Although you will now obviously be called a killjoy amongst other things for bringing a sense of perspective to proceedings

Or maybe people have got confidence in Pearson, his staff and his players that they'll see the job through this year. Over the 30 games played so far we're clearly the best team, why shouldn't people think that with 16 games remaining we won't collect enough points to get the job done.

There's just something about the squad this year that makes you feel they'll get the job done.

Pearson seems to have learnt from his mistakes this year and the big difference is the strength in depth we've got. You only have to look at the bench this year compared to last seasons.

Jesus!!.. If we don't get promoted now we never will.. Would take the biggest collapse since the twin towers to balls it all up from here!!!!

it would take an inside job for us to not go up now... Zing?

Do you think Pearson will be in the dressing room before our next game, saying 'don't worry lads - I've just been on Foxes Talk and they all reckon it's job done, so we can relax now'? What we think as fans has absolutely no bearing on what happens on the pitch - you can guarentee that Pearson and the players will be keeping their feet firmly on the ground and taking it one game at a time.

Seriously, what's the problem with people entertaining the idea of us getting promoted? Jesus, if we can't do it - who can? It seems there are plenty of people on here getting annoyed about it because a) it might somehow make the team complacent, which is a bizarre viewpoint, or b) we might look a bit daft if we don't get promoted. Well I hate to break it to you, if we **** it up and don't get promoted now, it's not these threads that are going to make us look stupid.

People know we're not there yet, but we're easily the best placed team in the league to get promoted at the minute and people are enjoying it, thinking about us finally being back where we belong, what players we might bring in. Surely this is what football is all about? It would be pretty bleak and boring if we're not allowed to talk about any kind of success in case we **** it up.

If these threads really bother some people, then they can always just ignore them. No-one's forcing you to post in here. If you want to wait and see what happens, fine, but some of us have faith that we'll finish the job. We don't really need you lot coming along and telling us off for having a bit of optimism.

Great post and totally spot on.
