Strokes Posted 16 February 2014 Posted 16 February 2014 I got about 3 paragraphs in and closed it down.
lavrentis Posted 16 February 2014 Posted 16 February 2014 If only you were so investigative over other parties ... Noting new though, some parties have odd balls.
Fox92 Posted 16 February 2014 Posted 16 February 2014 If only you were so investigative over other parties ... Noting new though, some parties have odd balls. Agreed. And number 6 surely applies to every party.
Rincewind Posted 16 February 2014 Posted 16 February 2014 I already guessed all that. Number six could be applied to some members of the other parties and number four.........
Jimothy Posted 16 February 2014 Posted 16 February 2014 If only you were so investigative over other parties ... Noting new though, some parties have odd balls. I believe his names Ed Balls, not Odd.
Tielemans63 Posted 16 February 2014 Posted 16 February 2014 I'm no fan of UKIP but that article is embarrassing in the extreme. Couldn't read beyond point 2 as I was at the point of cringing to death.
Guest MattP Posted 17 February 2014 Posted 17 February 2014 Terrible read. Painful at times and actually in the end couldn't give a single reason why a eurosceptic wouldn't vote for UKIP in the Euro elections. Can't debate the issues so just sling mud. Shame you haven't investigated the councillors of Labour or the Lib Dems.
Deucalion Posted 18 February 2014 Posted 18 February 2014 UKIP is just a party for people who think they are too posh to vote BNP.
Captain... Posted 18 February 2014 Posted 18 February 2014 The main reason for me not to vote for UKIP in the European elections is that they will be paid to do nothing, their councillors actively do not participate in EU councils. Even if you despise the EU and everything that it stands for surely it is better to vote for someone that will actually go and try have some influence and represent your views than sit at home and do nothing. If you are that concerned about the EU then there will be a referendum on it, where you can have your say, so vote for any other party... Oh I just got it, that is why Cameron has pledged a referendum in 2015, because it takes all the weight out of UKIP's campaign. D'oh. Smart move by Cameron, I expect to see that point ramped up in the election campaign, all eurosceptic Tories will come back to support Cameron and UKIP will be left floundering, we saw it last time, where, despite much improved public ratings the Lib Dems actually lost seats (despite gaining votes) at the last general election. We will never be able to shake this 2 party system until we have serious electoral reform. Sadly.

Never seen any of Farage's chamber videos?
Captain... Posted 18 February 2014 Posted 18 February 2014 Never seen any of Farage's chamber videos? Nope, feel free to post one. Public figures analysed by the FT show that Mr Farage attended only one of 42 meetings of the fisheries committee on which he sat for three years. Paul Nuttall, his deputy, attended two out of 56 environment committee meetings. Unlike select committees in Westminster, which have only an advisory role, those in the European Parliament can mould important legislation through “co-decisions†over EU policy alongside the Council of Ministers. In the parliament itself, Ukip typically misses a third of the votes, double the average. The anti-EU party makes a virtue of its absence. “We don’t measure our output by the number of committee meetings we attend in Brussels; all our MEPs go there with the overriding objective of trying to hasten Britain’s exit from the European Union,†said a spokesman. But that does not stop the party claiming hundreds of thousands of euros in pay and allowances. http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/85563e82-8f44-11e3-be85-00144feab7de.html#axzz2tfbfY6Uk If you hate the EU vote for someone that will stop it doing the things you dislike, rather than just not bother to turn up.

Not one party ticks them boxes I'm afraid, Ukip all the way for me.
Captain... Posted 18 February 2014 Posted 18 February 2014 Not one party ticks them boxes I'm afraid, Ukip all the way for me. So you would rather have a party that can't be bothered to turn up and vote to protect British Interests? The more UKIP European Councillors we have the less influence on Europe we will be able to exert as they don't bother voting. You want out of the EU, you will have your referendum, but in case the British public vote to stay in the EU we should still be trying to protect British interests. Other British MEPs are irritated they are not supported by their Ukip colleagues even when national interests are at stake. One example was the non-attendance by a Ukip MEP at the parliament’s economic affairs committee for a vote on the Financial Transactions Tax, a policy opposed by the party and the UK government. Likewise, when the economic committee moved to propose a bonus cap on fund managers, Godfrey Bloom, a Ukip MEP at the time, and his two allies in the wider EFD grouping, all failed to attend. The majority of six on the cap proposal was one of the tightest committee votes that year. With Ukip fighting for second place in May’s European elections, according to current polls, the other parties worry about the consequences of a still larger number of Ukip MEPs. Sharon Bowles, the Liberal Democrat chair of the economic affairs committee, said: “There are numerous examples of where votes that would have been good for the UK have fallen because of the absence of Ukip – or bad ones got into text instead of being killed.†Seriously, read that, they are putting their own political interests ahead of voting for the good of the country, for your rights and mine. You will have your say on the EU in the referendum, if we stay in the EU and have a lot of UKIP MEPS, then we are as good as bending over and letting the EU take us roughly from behind. How can you vote for that?

I don't believe we will get a referendum and even if we do, I don't believe we will pull out, so UKIP represent my views perfectly.

How can you vote for that? You don't really believe that the European Parliament has any power do you? The Govts get together decide a load of unpopular policies to be implemented and then blame Europe for forcing them to put them into law. It's just a gravy train for politicians that couldn't get elected in any vote that people cared about. It deserves to treated with contempt.

The Govts get together decide a load of unpopular policies to be implemented and then blame Europe for forcing them to put them into law. It's just a gravy train for politicians that couldn't get elected in any vote that people cared about. It deserves to treated with contempt. Well not if nobody turns up. No bill can be passed without a successful vote in the European parliament. We all know democracy is a myth, but if farage and the rest of the eurosceptic meps all turned out and voted down every policy I would at least respect it as a positive action, and if the EU rode roughshod over the wishes of the parliament, then it would be enough to convince the UK public that we shouldn't be part of it. But they don't, it is the same as not voting in the general election and complaining about the party that got in. Oh and farage isn't just an MEP, he was on the fisheries committee where he could have actually affected policy, not just vote on it, he didn't bother with that either.

I don't believe we will get a referendum and even if we do, I don't believe we will pull out, so UKIP represent my views perfectly. Except that it affects our everyday life, they are dictating policy that we are bound by, surely you should vote for an MEP that will actively try and stop the EU imposing unjust laws on us and protect our rights and not just ignore it and let it do what it wants. UKIP is not anti Europe, it is just using it as a free ride for political posturing, they may hold the same views as you but they aren't going to represent them in Europe, so what is the point?
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 18 February 2014 Posted 18 February 2014 Absolute load of rubbish, written by a Mr. Cringeworthy. Go away, you odious little festering turd.

ADK Posted 19 February 2014 Posted 19 February 2014 Didn't really bother to read it but looking forward to the MEP elections where your vote actually counts, unlike the british general election where your vote only counts if you are a resident of a "marginal" seat.

So you think its better for me to have a representative that I don't agree with, that won't represent my views. Than one that shares my views and represents my contempt? I really don't think you understand my views at all, or maybe the veiws of anyone who is considering or already votes UKIP.
