Morgan ?

Was going to say that but I would be honest and think either liam or Wes will not be guaranteed a start next season

Would play liam over Wes IMO ...

Wes will be fighting for his place next year

If he signed he would be very good competition for De Laet. Not sure why people care so much about De Laet losing his place, if he loses it to a better player surely that's a good thing? If he keeps his place that is equally as good as it shows he has progressed.

Agree with both these points.

I still think Wes being captain will give him the lead over Liam. It depends on who NP brings in at CB

Absolutely no chance will Wes be fighting for his place.

First name on the team sheet.

Can't believe I'm saying this, as he has struggled in the Prem in the past, but I'd give De Laet a good crack at right-back if we go up.

Naughton will want to start, but I believe we can't give him the game time he wants. He isn't good enough at left-back.

I would expect Pearson to sign a quality centre back..... And IMO Wes won't cope in the premier league, liam could adapt to it far easier/quicker...

Wes has been a good cb for us but has looked worse this season than last as many many ft users have already touched on.

Liam or Wes will have to be dropped and tbh I think it may be Wes

I'd rather have Aaron Cresswell. At least he's actually a left-back. Also, let's try and not to forget about the Ex-England international&Europa league finalist that we have in the team at the moment. He's not that bad!

Posted

Hes a good player but in my opinion RDL and Schmeichel are the 2 players we have who I would consider most ready to make that step up to the Premiership. I think we would be better strengthening in other areas

Ritchie would be my pick for a prem right back. Naughton obviously wants to play football, so doubt he'd come here to be a backup.

Agree with the points about Wes being a doubt for the prem too, his positioning isn't always 100% and he's not got the speed Moore has to get back when he's been found out. It'd all depend on who NP brought in though.

The thing with Moore is no matter how many times he is 3rd choice at centre back this season I could see him being 1st choice next season if we go up

I am not sure if Naughton is a 'Pearson Player'.

That said I haven't seen anything from Naughton to suggest he is a big time Charlie, I am not sure just because he's a Sven signing that we can put him in that category.

I imagine he would come with a heavy(ish) wage as well being at Spurs. I'd stick with RDL.

I'd of thought what £15,000-£20,000 PW?

Even if it is 25k+ pw, That is what we will have to pay to attract players...

Unfortunately we will need to make the step up in signing players who genuinely have more ability than "rough diamonds"

Players with experience at a level high enough, and they normally come with a cost!

In the last few years he's the only right back we've had who's been better than De Laet.

For me, Sven's best signing.

Sven comes in for a lot of stick but some of his loan signings in 10/11 were ****ing outrageous. I was genuinely so, so gutted when we didn't land Curtis Davies permanently.

My opinion on Morgan as well.

Agreed, along with Yakubu and Naughton all quality signings. I liked Feenandes too. The problem was with all that money he failed to sign a real quality striker and any wingers, then just started collecting players who done well for him in the past such as Johnson, Vassell, Ball etc, that's where I criticised him a lot. Then again, he signed Konch, Kasper and Nugent who have gone on to be pivotal players for us.

Posted

I would take him but it would either be as an understudy right back or as a first choice left back and seeing as the reason he is looking to leave Tottenham is that he isn't happy playing left back, I can't see him joining us.

Posted

Most managers 'collect players' who have done well for them in the past.

Peter Taylor & Junior Lewis being a prime example that makes me shudder to this day.

Redknapp and the QPR collective lol

No denying that.

However, IF we go up, we need more players to bolster the squad and add starting spot competition.

Naughton would fit that profile. Young, hungry, still bags of potential.

i have to agree. Did very well for us, and is still young. He has plenty of potential, and probably the desire to prove himself a worthy Premier league player.
