I think the first time I won was with a shield build, possibly the one that fires beams when doing the bull rush. While charging the bullrush, the shield blocks the damage. Also, when he's doing the spinning laser beam, make sure to hide behind the rocks because they block the damage. It's always tricky though, always a chance of losing even when you know what's coming.

Thank you! Yeah I've found I've had most success with the Aegis shield! Will stick at it then and find the bullrush buffs if I can!

The Athena buffs can be good for damage prevention too, think there's some that deflect when dashing which is useful. Oh, and if you can, make sure to destroy those stupid mines he drops before they explode, that seems to be what racks up a lot of the damage. It might be possible to avoid the damage on them by dashing across the shockwave as it approaches, if the timing is right.

I've been playing Hades 1 and struggling once I get to the final boss. Anyone played it and have any tips, I seem to be getting hit all the time.... :/

My suggestion would be to always dash into/through his attacks rather than away from them, if you're not already. Bait one of his big sweeps, dash through so you're behind him, get some hits in, repeat. Easier if you have extra dashes via the mirror upgrades or Hermes but even without, you'll get used to the timing and learn how late you can leave it. If you can get Athena dash then even better.

My go-to weapon is the Chiron bow which makes it really easy to just keep your distance (i.e. away from his lunge/thrust attacks, which are the hardest to anticipate and avoid) and chip away at him.

Hollow Knight: Silksong has me at my wits end.

I don't mind a hard game and managed to 100% the first game but this is different level.

I'm at the boss of Act 1 and cannot ****ing beat it. The runback is a piss take and the enemy just obliterates you as soon as you get to its second form. Runback. Die. Runback. Die. Also running out of shell shards each time means you have to go and farm from enemies and that just isn't fun. It's like the devs just want to waste your time.

Think I'm just too much of a casual these days for something so hard TBH which is a shame as the game is amazing... But it didn't need to be this frustrating. Just some poor minor design decisions which don't respect the player and are annoying for the sake of it.

I haven't played it but watched someone play through it all on YT and I can say that Act 1 is mild compared to what is to come....:nigel:

Yeah, it won't get easier and it's just punishing for the sake of it. It stopped being fun ages ago.

Shame, really as I was enjoying it until that point.

Just got the platinum on Lego Horizon Adventures. Nice easy one. Pretty fun game but the gameplay does get repetitive after a while.

The getting everyone to level 20 trophy is becoming tedious.  I've done everything else but this is very, very tedious for a grind.

Yeh that was lame at the end tbh. If you have a second controller you can do two at once, the second character will move with you once you get too far away and both will get the XP.

Bit if an arse with the Game Awards starting gone midnight but always some good reveals shown there.

Yeh was hoping it'd be a bit earlier, will catch up tomorrow. Tomb Raider already leaked it seems.

Clair Obscur Expedition 33.

You know you're onto a winner when you just stop and listen for the first time at the main screen for 15 minutes and don't do what it asks you to do.

Looking forward to a platinum run on this!

I'm a old school Final Fantasy enjoyer - so this itched a particular part of my brain.

But even objectively it's a special game. Unbelievably good.

I managed to near enough 100% it.

New Control! Absolutely LOVED the first one and that trailer is great. Pumped for that.

Divinity wooooo, hopefully not too long a wait for that although presumably they'll be doing early access again. Enjoyed Control so I'm up for another and though I've not really managed to get into the Warhammer Total Wars I'll be interested to see how 40k turns out.

I played it for an hour or so yesterday… I can already tell I won’t be putting it down until I finish it lol

Hope you took out the mime and picked up the old key!

I like a story full of questions, just about to head into Act 1 completely confused as to what is going on lol

Finding the parry/dodge system tricky.  I'll go through a set of enemies and think I've got this but then on another set, it's a total fail.  The timing is all over the place.

Almost had the bourgeon boss on 1st try, but then he ate me :D  I left out the lance guy near the start, too tricky.  The second mimic at current level is a complete non starter too lol

That's the beauty of Expedition 33. You feel like you can take on any fight cause you believe you have the parry/dodge mastered. Then you come up against what seems a weak fight and get your arse handed to you 🤣

It really is a beautifully made game.

Just came across the lance guy, tried it a few times but being one shot was not fun haha

Taking me a bit to get used to the parry and dodgy system as well

Easier to dodge (bigger window of mistake allowed.) But i do try to parry as much as i can just for the counter attack damage. I have just finished act 1 this evening.
