Does this follow on from Ghost Of Tsushima or completely different? Do you need to play Ghost Of Tsushima first?

Completely different I think - set a few hundred years later with a new protagonist and setting so you ought to be fine jumping straight in. Tsushima I think is free with PS+ Extra and it's not that long by modern open-world standards so if you did want to play that first you could do so relatively cheaply.

Alan Wake 2 is free on PS+ from next week.

There have been a few poor titles over the course of the year on PS+ but enough AAA games keep getting put through that have meant I still haven't bought a physical game since last year lol

Gave Indiana Jones a go last night on a trial basis and that was pretty good tbf.  Will get that once it's down in price, refuse to pay over 40 quid for anything these days.

What do you guys think about the Xbox Gamepass price hike? I must say I'm really disappointed, this is a 53.33% increase for us in UK. It's not 30 dollars like in US but at £22.99 it's still high for a subscription service for games we don't actually own. I knew the videogaming industry was heading there and we're currently getting ripped left and right in prices everywhere, supermarkets, energy etc.

I'm debating on the matter, as a family with 3 children that use the service frequently even the price hike will not actually affect us as we all make some heavy use of it (actual service and xcloud). I've made already my calculations but in the end it's the moral/ethical side of it. Even if it's still  affordable for me income wise I don't want to reward this kind of behaviour by corporations.

So the last £15 payment comes out (for me) at the end of this month and then I read that as of November 4th the new prices are in place. I am cancelling at the end of this month and then will see how much it's missed for the first few months at the very least.

I am in the same boat as you - it's not unaffordable and the kids use it, but it's the principle of such a massive hike, not that long after we had a price rise before. We have games we've bought that don't get played so that's what will be played.

Thankfully I preloaded mine quite a bit earlier in the year and have until November 2026

Won’t be renewing though I think

Im playing The Invincible on PS plus at the moment. Pure story driven game, no fighting or anything but its an interesting story. Just wish you could run a little bit faster. First couple of hours were a little dull but it is getting a little intriguing now. Dont think im far away from the end.

Im just filling the void until Alan Wake 2 comes out next week. Heard good things about it

Anyone on Yotei? Watched the boy play a bit, looks very nice and he was very pleased the horse can jump. lol

It's OK, much the same vein as the original. I think I'm just done with Ubisoft open worlders now.

BF6 - What we saying folks? I'm hearing a lot about crashes and queues; and the single player content requiring connection to EA servers (why?)

Still tempted.

17 hours into Ghost of Yotei and I have just finished in the first area and explored everything there I could

Plenty to explore but I definitely felt like it wasn't too much like you find with a lot of Ubisoft-esque open worlds, got the balance right like I think they did with Tsushima

I have actually found the combat a bit harder at times than I did in Tsushima, especially with some of the "boss" battles, which I actually quite like

Definitely think I will be going for the platinum on this like I did with Tsushima, thankfully it looks like that won't be too much effort

It's funny because I gave GoT 2/3 goes before I could finish it because I was so so bored at points. I think the Tales or whatever they were called were great (with the characters from the main story) but hampered by how slow they were at times and the length of time it took to travel to missions. That sentiment was mirrored with the open world as the concept of how you explore was fantastic and immersive, but the reality was that it was a very bland open world and tedious to explore with the distance between things/fast travel points and how slowly the fog on the map was removed (pretty sure I just wore the outfit that boosted that the whole game).

Funny, as a historical based, 3rd person action game sounds like my perfect game almost. Still, probably pick Yotei up at some point.

For a quick platinum, do Cocoon on PS+.  Less than 5 hours.

I'll start Alan Wake 2 this week although I read somewhere that the Silent Hill 2 Remake is available on a free towards the end of this month too.

im 5 hours into Alan Wake 2. I find the game very confusing. I watched a youtube video to remind me of the first game. I did play it when it came out and remember enjoying it.

The first part of the game i enjoyed. Now im not so sure. Not really enjoying the combat. I will persevere with it though as i would like to see how the story unfolds.

Im playing it on the easiest setting. I think now at my age im not bothered about challenge. Just want to see how the story plays out.

If Silent Hill 2 comes available ill defo jump on that. Remember the original as a kid being a game that genuinely scared me.

I'm only 10 hours in but enjoying it so far. Combat definitely feels harder then the first. All the enemies tend to be much more aggressive and they you can get multiple enemies attacking at the same time with different weapons which is tricky. Boss battles are more punishing when you make mistakes.

I'm not someone who is totally burnt out from open worlds but it does feel like they get the balance right with the checklist type stuff.  There checklist stuff whilst basically being collectables has great vibes that fit in so well with the overall atmosphere of the game rather then collect 50 horseshoes like old GTA games.

Playing a bit more Alan Wake. This is officially one of the most bizarre games ive played. Still not sure what to make of it

Part 2 is even odder.

Dripping with DEI and the "girl boss" theme (black female character (with white Scandinavian relatives) is more important than Alan Wake himself).

Blame it on Sweet Baby Inc.

Visually stunning, fitting atmosphere (on par with the original). Still, the game leaves a lot to be desired in the end.

Octopath Traveler.

Got this and the second part in a bundle deal.

Proves that you don't need great graphics, as long as the storyline and the music are top-notch.

Insane playability, too.
