MA sent messages to relatives saying that it is assumed beyond all reasonable doubt the plane went down in Southern Ocean with no survivors.

I'm assuming they have some pretty compelling evidence to back this - guessing the press conference will shed some light on that.

They better come up with some good evidence. Bit cocky to come out with such a statement without definite proof at hand.

Amateurish press work again by the Malay officials.

The real good news will be if they manage to recover the flight recorder and can piece together what actually happened to the aircraft. It's not going to be easy and it'll cost a shed load of cash but I suspect Boeing for one are really really going to want evidence. These sort of incidents can lead to spectacular litigation costs and can undermine a manufacturers reputation that can lead to a lot of lost jobs. It's spectacularly sad for those who've lost their lives, and their families but the shockwaves from something like this can ripple a long way.

I can think of better news but sadly I don't think it will be forthcoming. A friend and colleague of my son had his wife and two children on that plane so you're right about the shock waves.

Call me horrible... but I really don't get the wailing grief you get from people, I find the scenes of their families just strange. They have my sympathies, but that kind of stuff just doesn't compute with me personally.

What I don't get is why they have to show the families reactions at all. Even the BBC are at it, shows how tabloidy and sensationalist it's become.

What i don't get is why anyone needed to fake any pictures of the passengers . surely they would have plenty of genuine pictures .

Exactly, have almost stopped watching the news completely now as every report is sensationalised.

You can see the cut and paste job on to the left guy lol

You can see the giant white line in the join can you not... if you actually think this is someone trying to "fake" a photo then you are back to your usual grasping at straws. A 10 year old with 3 hours training in photoshop could fake a better picture.

What's more probable... some pleb in the video room gets put under loads of pressure to go the images out there and decides you only really need the heads and takes a short cut, or makes a mistake under pressure.

Or there is some huge conspiracy with the worlds top agencies / agents hijacking a plane, making it vanish brilliantly without anyone finding out it was them... and then blowing it all by releasing quite possibly the wost cobbled together image ever.

I know perhaps your post was tongue in cheek.... but I've literally seen this posted as "evidence" of a cover up.

So why fake it at all then ? that's the question . Not whether or not it's a fake ?

Did you not read my post?

Human error clearly the most likely, certainly more likely than someone making the shittiest "fake" ever to cover one of the biggest government plots of all time.

Perhaps I should send my CV to the CIA as I could do better in 5 minutes.

Conspiracy theories lol lol

Planes crash, they always have and will continue too.

I think this looks like suicide now, turned around and appears to have just let it run out of fuel judging by the distance it's travelled on the map. Evil bastard, why take so many people with you?

Just hope they were all unconscious when they hit the sea.

Southern Indian ocean, that size and that deep, can't see them recovering much, could take 50 years to find the black box given it took two to find the Air France one in an area 100 times smaller.

Why are people so obsessed with conspiracy theories?

Gives people something to talk about. Something to immerse yourself in between any facts being published.

How much of that is down to it just being washed up in that direction? I do agree with the turning around to no-mans land but I wonder how far it got before it actually went crashing down and then given the length of time since the crash how far the debris have been dispersed around that ocean.

The media would have been given the image by the Malaysians and had nothing to do with picking or sorting it out, they just release what they are given.

The Malaysians obvisouly got the image from someone sat in the video room at the airport, who either made a mistake or thought "it's the faces that matter in regards the investigation and tracking these two people, not what shoes the bloke has on".

The poor bloke clearly didn't think through the fact there are 1000's of nut jobs in the big wide world who look for anything to scream "CONSPIRACY".

i've not even mentioned any conspiracy theory and i agree it probably was , but my point is that somehow this ridiculous obviously doctored image /photo got past the editors and staff of tv and newspapers and was presented as real . Doen't it seem odd that professional journalists didn't notice it before it went out  :D

Fair point but it's still a long long way.

It takes 5 hours to fly from the top of Australia to the bottom and it seems to be a few thousand miles below that.

Got concrete evidence on that? Or are you just going to slander a dead man before you find out what's actually happened?

I mean that if it's suicide.

Sorry guys, wasn't meant to slander him.

You don't need to... we know what you are like!!!! ;)

The journalists probably barely looked at it, they don't make it pop up on your tv screen at home. It would have been sent over here for editing, done by someone who isn't a journalist.

I saw the image a few dozen times and didn't notice anything wrong as I wasn't looking at the blokes legs. On crime watch etc they don't tend to do e-fits of peoples legs.

"Did you get a good view of the criminal"

"Oh yes I can describe everything about him"

"Really, what did he look like"

"Well he was wearing some blue chinos, in a size 33 waist and 32 leg, and some tan loafers in a size 7"

"Anything else"

"Well I think he hung to the left and one knacker was lower than the other, but it could have been boiled sweets in his pocket"
