Mark_from_USA Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 I'm sure Stringer mentioned that the Radio Leics microphone was placed near our fans at away games. I heard the Forest fans fine. I heard the Birmingham fans fine, even. Bournemouth fans were loud enough. Barnsley - not so much. Maybe it's the setup, who knows. I obviously wasn't there!
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 12 March 2014 Author Posted 12 March 2014 Wow post some truth and it gets removed. Barnsley have a reason for hating us as I posted last night but it has been removed. I didn't see that, can u post it ? Or will it be removed again?
Guest Col city fan Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 Not being rude, but does anyone actually give a shite what Barnsley think of us? Really? This thread has been surprisingly long.
MC Prussian Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 Not being rude, but does anyone actually give a shite what Barnsley think of us? Really? This thread has been surprisingly long. Given the fact that it circles around the OP's and many other poster's surprise at the Barnsley fans' surprisingly negative attitude towards us, hardly surprising.
Guest Col city fan Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 Given the fact that is circles around the OP's and many other poster's surprise at the Barnsley fans' surprisingly negative attitude towards us, hardly surprising. Fair enough..
Grewks Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 Few points i would like to make regarding some of their comments. 1. Leicester fans were arrogant. No - we unlike barnsley backed our team. Never heard a peep, not at 3-0, 1-0 or even 0-0 it was embarrassing. 2. Leicester will do a 'pompey'. Again disagree. It amazed me to see how they use the written off £100 million debt as a point for their argument that is the thais leave then we are ****ed. The fact it is written off, at least in my opinion, just shows how committed to the club they are. 3. The way we signed Danny Drinkwater. Problem? Simple jealousy on this one. We had the cash, they didn't, simple really. And like most of our signings, he, james and knocky are already worth double what we paid. They were 'investments'. They fail to see, that should we be promoted, regardless of their relegation or survival their financial situation will be far worse than ours.
CORNFOX68 Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 I agree. I can't stand Stringer's commentary. So unprofessional. I listen mostly to the opposition commentary nowadays. I have found all of them professional - clear, unbiased, and continuously describing exactly what's going on during play, identifying players correctly. So refreshing. Got too agree with this, stringer and hate to say it youngy as well spend more time chatting and talking about whos driving home, what sarny they've eaten, and generally everything but the game they are supposed to commentating on, also have lost count of the times stringer shouts definite penalty, thats a red card etc and its completely the opposite, i always start a game listening to there commentary but always give up and swop to opposition commentary, most times you get too listen to a proper commentary thats not too biased, only one nearly as bad as ours was forests
Sir Steve Howard Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 And why shouldn't we? Our fans aren't arrogant enough if you ask me. We have too many people too quick to revere other clubs, hence all the Man City things we copy. We need more of our fans to think we are the greatest club in the world and every other club are lower than something stuck to the bottom of your shoe. That's how you get passionate support a la Man U and Leeds. No support has ever been great by being nice. Yes the shoe has been on the other foot, and other teams' fans have reacted in the same way, and always will. Some people are being a bit pathetic on this thread. Why on earth do you care what Barnsley fans think? We should be more interested on how we're enjoying ourselves. That's what we're in it for after all. This. Absolutely this.
Sir Steve Howard Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 I wholeheartedly disagree. There is a right way to win and, as I said before, that's with respect, dignity and compassion for your opponent. I don't know if this is going to come as some kind of shock/revelation to you but you can still be passionate whilst still being all of the former. If you really think this is what football is all about maybe you should go and support Brighton or reading. They seem to have the same happy clapper attitude as yourself. Oh and don't forget to take your prawn sandwiches with you.

They seem to have the same happy clapper attitude as yourself. Oh and don't forget to take your prawn sandwiches with you. How on earth have you managed to get so upset at what the guy posted? It seemed a fairly valid, non-controversial thing to say and you've had a real go at him as if he's not a proper fan or something.
leicsmac Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Couldn't disagree more, you can be brilliant without arrogance. You see it from individuals like Roger Federer to teams like Barcelona. If you behave like that all you get is people ready to delight in your failures. Fed and Barca aren't arrogant? Pull the other one Matt, it's got little bells on. I still remember Fed's embroidered '15' jacket and Barca's 'more than a club' BS. You do have a point about being brilliant without arrogance, though.
tomtom Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Those three are all arrogant fanbases. Horrendously so. No they're not at all, Sheffield Wednesday and Man city fans are pretty decent to be fair... Newcastle are just a bit diluded
Culletonfox Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Wtf! Prawn sandwich brigade! It's called atmosphere! I have been a supporter for 30 years and in pen 2 the abuse of other fans and teams was a lot more aggressive and sometimes tasteless! I went on Tuesday and thought the whole cheering of there passing and singing super Steve was funny and done in a humerous way! Chill out.......
LCCFox96 Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Fed and Barca aren't arrogant? Pull the other one Matt, it's got little bells on. I still remember Fed's embroidered '15' jacket and Barca's 'more than a club' BS. You do have a point about being brilliant without arrogance, though. Really. "Mes Que Une Club" or "More Than A Club" is Barca's team motto thing. It would be like calling Liverpool arrogant for using YNWA. It's their thing. Away from football Federer is a class act. On a separate note. Who even cares what Barnsley think now? Cheers for the 6 points and hopefully we won't be playing them for a long while now.
leicsmac Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Really. Fair enough...but it does sound a bit pretentious, doesn't it? Especially when they style themselves as the 'best club in the World' when tapping up players in the media to go to them. Did you not see Federer's jacket pre-2009 Wimbledon final, with the '15' embroidered assuming he'd already won it along with monogrammed initials? If that's not arrogance I don't know what is. I never said it was a bad quality of his - just that it was true. That said, I pull people up on judging other sportsmen from their public appearances so I can't really give him a hard time on that one.
_Fatboyslow_ Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 there really is nothing to report here to be honest. From what I can see there were around 5 Barnsley posts criticizing us - that's hardly representative of the Barnsley fans. If your name was Robbie Savage it would be
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 If you really think this is what football is all about maybe you should go and support Brighton or reading. They seem to have the same happy clapper attitude as yourself. Oh and don't forget to take your prawn sandwiches with you. Thanks for your input Wordsworth but you seem to have missed the point that showing respect for your opponent when winning has nothing to do with being a 'happy clapper' or prawn sandwiches. But go and make my sandwich for me, if you can manage to work out where the bread goes and where you put the prawns, and I'll be on my way to Brighton or Reading.
Dan Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 No they're not at all, Sheffield Wednesday and Man city fans are pretty decent to be fair... Newcastle are just a bit diluded Sheffield Wednesday who call themselves 'the MASSIVES' and Man City? I'm sorry but the pair of them are extremely arrogant. I don't resent them for it either but there is no way those pair, or Newcastle, are humble. I'm starting to wonder what the point this thread's all about to be honest. It was harmless. I could understand if we'd gone to Portsmouth or somewhere and mocked their administration but there was no real malice in it on Tuesday night. If they dislike us because we signed Drinkwater then good luck to them. Some clubs are bigger than others. Wow. It happens.

I remember some Sheff Weds fan ringing up 606 when they were in League One and saying it was a travesty that 'small' teams like Wigan were playing in the PL. Absolute embarrasment. He did it on more than one occasion too - got short shrift from Savage, about one of the only times I've ever agreed with him!
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 13 March 2014 Author Posted 13 March 2014 Some Wednesday fans have got the same problems as some of the forest lot, they're living in the past
Jordan Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Fans are going to talk shit after every game. If their team loses, the winning team is arrogant, or isn't really all that good and got lucky, or is a bunch of cheats or doesn't play good football, or they're buying the league, or they're not going anywhere anyway, or they're going right back down anyway, or they're going bust, or their fans were awful compared to ours, or they're from a town full of inbreds/Pakis/chavs or they're a small club or... *takes a deep breath* you get the point. Some fans do this in a shitty attempt at banter (let's face it, most of what passes as "banter" is stupid), while others do this as some sort of coping mechanism. Either way, you just can't win against this, so don't even bother worrying.

If you behave like that all you get is people ready to delight in your failures. I'm not Roger Federer, I'm a football fan. I shouldn't be expected to behave like sportsmen. Ever slagged the ref off Matt? Done things as a fan you wouldn't expect Roger Federer to do? The comparison is just silly. I couldn't care less who delights in our failure. In fact I like pissing other clubs off.
