Corky Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 Stringer is getting excited, and yes, a broadcaster shouldn't be shouting odds like that early in the game. Thankfully Pearson and the players have not been arrogant in the slightest in interviews, always seem respectful and determined to do it on the pitch.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 To be fair I genuinely expected a really tough game last night but by the sounds of it we won at a canter Perhaps a bit of sour grapes from Barnsley fans?
Fox42 Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 Obviously it's to do with Vardy grabbing a brace. He's a Wednesday fan after all... His celebration didn't help matters either
Alexikokopops Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 If they hate us bacause of losses/football etc I dread to think what they would be like had they heard Stringer last night, the bloke came across as arrogant as any footbal fan I've ever heard and he was broadcasting it to the nation. It's important to be good winners as well as losers, showing humility shouldn't be a problem. To the nation? I can see it now. People from Truro to Thurso huddled around their illegal streams of Radio Leicester howling in fury as Stringer mentions the odds of us winning 5-0
ScouseFox Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 Maybe, but if Man City's commentator playing at us started mentioning the odds on 5-0 and 6-0 in the first few mins of the game we'd have a right to think they are arrogant *****. I try not to be arrogant to people on the way up, because always you'll eventually meet them again on the way down. And knowing LCFC that's a given. Yeah I get you mate. Possibly a little unprofessional seen as he's meant to show no bias and all that but it wasn't massively arrogant, he was simply giving his opinion on what might happen and by the sounds of things he was unlucky not to be right. If he (and us as fans) can't enjoy this season and at least spend the end of it taking the piss a little out of us being so superior to most this diction well never get that chance again .
Jakemoore Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 The people on that forum seem really young tbh. Most of them can't seem to spell or put coherent sentences together.I'm really young, yet I manage to put coherent sentences together. Init.
Haydos Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 To the nation? I can see it now. People from Truro to Thurso huddled around their illegal streams of Radio Leicester howling in fury as Stringer mentions the odds of us winning 5-0 I was gonna say. He's a local commentator, it's nice to have someone who's a fan do the games. If it was on a national scale I'd be embarrassed.
Strokes Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 If you can't be arrogant when you're winning and clearly better than everyone else, then when can you? It's part and parcel of football, we'll be shite again at some point so we should enjoy it. Shouldn't be taken so seriously. You can be arrogant, just don't be suprised if people dislike you for it.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 If you can't be arrogant when you're winning and clearly better than everyone else, then when can you? Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 12 March 2014 Author Posted 12 March 2014 Ironic given the title of this thread Sorry, just seen my spelling mistake
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 12 March 2014 Author Posted 12 March 2014 Agree so whys there a thread with us wondering why we're not well liked? But they don't like us because we might be "arrogant", they don't like us because apparently we are cheaters and in massive debt
red5 Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 I love it going on other forums and seeing how they hate us I blame Sven.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 Barnsley Still enjoy the away game there, shame they have no fans
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 If they hate us bacause of losses/football etc I dread to think what they would be like had they heard Stringer last night, the bloke came across as arrogant as any footbal fan I've ever heard and he was broadcasting it to the nation. It's important to be good winners as well as losers, showing humility shouldn't be a problem. Absolutely spot on. Cheering their passes was a bit unnecessary IMO and I don't get why our fans would want to do things like that. I've been in L1 and despaired at some of the idiots in there when they've been singing for the opposition or urging them to score a goal, they soon go quiet when they nearly do. It's like some of our support wants to adopt the brash, cocky style of support that you got from United fans in the 90s and from Leeds fans since forever. As you say, it's about winning in the right way and I'd far rather we win this league in the same manner we won League One. And that's with humility, respect and empathy. It's not like the shoe's never been on the other foot.

Jordan Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 There is so much "hate" because too many fans take things so personally these days. I wouldn't even pay any mind towards what the Barnsley fans are saying.
thybluefox Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 You get the cheering for opposition passes in almost every game where one team is obviously outclassing the other It's football banter This, we've taken it from other fans when we've been useless, its now our turn to enjoy it. Everyone knows that it won't last forever, so lets make the most of it now. And if for some people making the most of it means giving a bit of stick out, then so be it. Its all good natured.
Littletoe Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 Why are people debating like its Leicester City Fans are the problem? Trying to spoil and force people to rethink their winning mentality? Yes, fans will maybe go over the top with things they say and do. At the end of the day, Barnsley are bitter, we move on..
Kitchandro Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 Absolutely spot on. Cheering their passes was a bit unnecessary IMO and I don't get why our fans would want to do things like that. It's not like the shoe's never been on the other foot. And why shouldn't we? Our fans aren't arrogant enough if you ask me. We have too many people too quick to revere other clubs, hence all the Man City things we copy. We need more of our fans to think we are the greatest club in the world and every other club are lower than something stuck to the bottom of your shoe. That's how you get passionate support a la Man U and Leeds. No support has ever been great by being nice. Yes the shoe has been on the other foot, and other teams' fans have reacted in the same way, and always will. Some people are being a bit pathetic on this thread. Why on earth do you care what Barnsley fans think? We should be more interested on how we're enjoying ourselves. That's what we're in it for after all.
Mark_from_USA Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 Barnsley Still enjoy the away game there, shame they have no fans Was that an away game? On the radio it sounded like a Leicester game. Oh well, I guess if your going to put out a lower league following, that's what it will sound like. Welcome to League 1, Reds. You'll fit right in.
Guest Mickyblueeyes Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 All positive. I remember hating every team in the top six when we were playing piss poor boring football and screaming Hummmmme at every home game as if he was our saviour. Let them hate cos I love being on this side of the "banter" rather than where we were for years!
Guest Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 Never seen so much hate? Remember the Plymouth saga? There's been a few clubs who have 'hated' us for various reasons over the past few years. I find it pretty comical to be fair
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 You get the cheering for opposition passes in almost every game where one team is obviously outclassing the other It's football banter Oh, of course, the football banter! I had forgotten about the football banter.
