Lettsy Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Probably not a defining game of our season, but definitely one that has helped contribute to our season and the improvement of the side this year and that was the Man City game. Although we lost we seemed to take so much from that game and watching such quality players play. Really seemed to help improve the team. We then went on to beat QPR the following weekend and go on that 9 game winning streak.
ealingfox Posted 14 March 2014 Posted 14 March 2014 Outside shout - Man City in the League Cup. Leading up to that game we'd just lost to Wednesday, Brighton and we'd unconvincingly drew against Burnley at home. That night they showed us how to play pretty and effective attacking football and I think we've learnt a lot of lessons from them. We haven't lost since. Good post, but some of the poignancy is lost when you realise actually, we have, away at Stoke. Unless we're only talking league in which case Man City isn't really relevant anyway.
EnglishOxide Posted 14 March 2014 Posted 14 March 2014 Bolton 5-3. A couple of dodgy moments defending aside it was up with the Derby performance. 2-1 down. 3-2 down. Heads would have dropped easily last season but on this occasion they just would not be denied. And that Dyer goal was a beaut.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 14 March 2014 Posted 14 March 2014 Qpr was a massive result. Look at their form since. Look at ours. But for me. Watford away. Not in the context of them being shit this year but. It clearly meant a lot to the squad and I think knocky scoring felt like redemption not for the fans as much but for him personally. we had already forgiven him but I think he just needed that for himself. Leeds away proved we can play shit and win. But for me that doesn't define us this year. Because we are class this year. Defining us and defining (shaping our season) are two different things though. Leeds has to be in there- we should've lost never mind come away with all 3
Guest ttfn Posted 14 March 2014 Posted 14 March 2014 The game against Derby was like a dream. Derby were flying (8 wins in 10 I think it was) and we absolutely murdered them. Easily the best I've seen Leicester play in 10 years; 4-1 completely flattered Derby and it wasn't like they played too badly.
lcfcsnow Posted 14 March 2014 Posted 14 March 2014 Vardys goal against qpr needs to replace koncheskys on the big screen pre match for numerous reasons, has to happen!
kingcarr21 Posted 14 March 2014 Posted 14 March 2014 That moment Knockaert scored against Watford away i think was the moment when the whole team had accepted what happened in the play-offs and was now completely forgotten about. The celebrations symbolised our togetherness as a team and i believe the whole team at that moment grew so much in confidence and buried any demons the players may of had in their minds. The look on knockaerts face was priceless.
Fox Ulike Posted 14 March 2014 Posted 14 March 2014 Wigan 2-0 Our Liam's first goal and a massive performance from the lad meant he had made the jump up to the first team. Agree with this one. This was only the sixth game of the season, and Wigan were thought to be the much stronger side. The way we comfortably beat them must have given the players a lot of confidence. Second. Deffo the win at QPR. I think it was this goal that transformed Vardy. His first touch, and pace to get him past a top defender (Richard Dunne) and clinical finish past an ex England goalie. This was the moment he stopped being "the most improved player" and turned into "the best player" in the division. Third, the win at Leeds. This proved we had the luck, sticking power to win the tight games. This was the moment when I counted my chickens, and knew we were Prem bound.
Silverdaz Posted 14 March 2014 Posted 14 March 2014 Birmingham at home deserves a shout. I thought we were decent in that game but many people were becoming very frustrated very quickly. Those two goals from Vardy along with Kings superb strike were so satisfying and helped to keep us up there in the table. Other than that Watford away. King said after the game that there was no way that we were coming back from there without 3 points. That character epitomises how we felt and has generated so much pride in the team for me. The last game probably has to be between QPR away and Derby at home. I can't decide, both superb performances. Though there have been so many important games for us. It's just been a bloody great season tbh. Didnt Nugent score pen that game though??
ealingfox Posted 14 March 2014 Posted 14 March 2014 If I think back to last season, when we had Boro at home and Kasper saved that penalty in the last minute, something clicked inside me and I started to really think it was our year, and we'd definitely finish in the top 2. Of course I was wrong, but since around late November this season, I had been waiting for my 'Middlesbrough Moment' this year. I thought it had come with Nugent's goal at Leeds but I just didn't feel the same way. The Middlesbrough Moment actually came with Drinkwater's equalizer against Watford. It had shades of Walsh v Arsenal for me, really evoked that same determined, relentless spirit. Foxes Never Quit, and we will not be beaten at home!
Agent Fox Posted 14 March 2014 Posted 14 March 2014 Watford (A) - Showed balls and quality. A different level on the day. QPR (A) - A result ground out from the jaws of despair. Millwall (A) - Awful conditions, busy period - dominant win. Leeda (A) - Game that makes Champions Derby (H) - Slaughtered the in-form team.
LC/FC Posted 14 March 2014 Posted 14 March 2014 4-1 Derby: Against another in form team and basically just continuing what we've been doing against them for the last few years and rip them apart. Showed that it doesn't matter about the opposition and what they've done, but all what you can do. 2-0 Middlesborough: That first half from hell when the heavens opened up, and to still win it with only 45 mins to actually play anything resembling football... hat's off. 2-2 Watford: Exemplified the never say die attitude, salavaged a point and proved that last year didn't matter anymore.
Leeds Fox Posted 14 March 2014 Posted 14 March 2014 I know it's not the answer you're looking for, but I think it has to be the playoff semi final 2nd leg. That is the game that has shaped our season the most.
ithuriel Posted 14 March 2014 Posted 14 March 2014 December was the defining month for me, two poor league defeats followed by a determined push to clinch top spot, also some of the most interesting moments, squirrel, power loss and that 5-3 battle against Bolton.
One Legged Beaver Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 Schmeichel equalising in the 92nd minute against Yeovil
