Nordic Nelly Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 I've been thinking about this great season and I've chosen 3 games that have been important getting us to where we are. I reckon the DERBY game is the one that proved how good we are this season. The sheep were ripping everyone apart. Their fans were sure they were going to stuff us but like someone on here said that day we played like Brazil. City beat the best that was on offer at the time and sent a clear message to everyone. We are not pretenders we're the real deal! Next I think the win against LEEDS. WE could have lost that game but we battled through a really tough match and never gave up . An ugly win but it really showed that we can mix it as well with teams like Leeds. The third game I chose was against Middlesboro. It might seem a bit of a strange choice but they were doing really well at the time and flying up the league. But again we took them on and showed what a great team we have put together. What about you guys? What games were the important ones in your view?
MattFox Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Qpr away was the biggest result/game of the season hands down, followed by derby, then watford
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Boro first game 2-1 was a frequent scoreline for us particularly early on in the season so far. QPR away, 1-0 hard fought win but deserved and started the run. Derby 4-1, hammering against a in form team Nottm Forest 2-2. Never say die attitude with ten men, could have even won it. Key ones so far for me
ScouseFox Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 watford away. then qpr away. we've been up since then really. could say bolton at home too, behind twice then missed a penalty but went on to win to extend our lead and winning run.
Donut Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Watford Away (3-0 win): A result that well and truly laid the ghosts of last season to bed. A superb away performance and convincing win which showed just how much the events in May had galvanised the squad rather than giving us a hangover. QPR Away (1-0 win): At the time, we were wobbling having come unstuck at Sheffield Wednesday and Brighton and were on a run of games without a win. The lads turned in a superb display, capped with a wonderful Vardy finish to deliver 3 huge points. Derby Home (4-1 win): The result that sent out a clear message that we were going up, and that no one would stand in our way. The football on display that night was some of, if not THE best ive ever seen from a Leicester side and leaving the game, it was clear that barring an epic collapse, we were promotion material.
Kitchandro Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 I was waiting to do this at the end of the season QPR (A) 1-0 On the back of our only bad run of the season it was always going to be a massive game. We got deserved 3 points and kick started the run that made our season. Reading (H) 1-0 The win that took us to the top of the table. Another confidence booster. Leeds (A) 1-0 Grinding out a win in a match we could easily have lost to preserve our winning run. Watford (H) 2-2 coming back from 2-0 down to equalise so late on is what champions are made of.

I think this was a pivotal game too which is overlooked. The game was played in difficult circumstances with weather and of course the floodlight issues, and having come amongst the congested christmas period where we had some very big games, we showed a good level of professionalism to get the three points and kept the ball rolling to take into the Bolton and Millwall games to end the festive period.
Basingstoke Fox Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Birmingham at home deserves a shout. I thought we were decent in that game but many people were becoming very frustrated very quickly. Those two goals from Vardy along with Kings superb strike were so satisfying and helped to keep us up there in the table. Other than that Watford away. King said after the game that there was no way that we were coming back from there without 3 points. That character epitomises how we felt and has generated so much pride in the team for me. The last game probably has to be between QPR away and Derby at home. I can't decide, both superb performances. Though there have been so many important games for us. It's just been a bloody great season tbh.
Charl91 Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 I always think of Leeds. It showed both the luck and winning mentality you need to get promoted in this division.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Watford 2-2 home game, superb comeback in a frustrating game Red shite 2-2 away game again we did brilliantly to come back after being down to 10 men etc Charlton 3-0 home win superb 2nd half performance blew them away All 3 games for 3 different reasons are ones we would of lost last season and all 3 define the determined effort our team has this season not to be beaten Foxes never quit
Tom's Pasta Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 I would say QPR away because it showed we could win at the hardest place (at the time). Other than that, we've been so consistent I couldn't pick out any more individual games although Derby was as complete a performance as I've seen
Fox92 Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 QPR for me. It was the first "big" game of the season. I know we played Burnley the week before, but everyone looked at QPR as the side who would walk the league. To win at there place, without even conceding, was not only a massive win but a massive statement from us.
AndWhat? Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Ipswich away was when I first thought 'this could be our year' Leeds away is when I realised it is our year!
midland_red Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Derby at home - showed what we really could do, and against an in form team as well QPR away Trees away - coming back to equalise with ten men showed fantastic character - and we kept on attacking to the end
Lionator Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Outside shout - Man City in the League Cup. Leading up to that game we'd just lost to Wednesday, Brighton and we'd unconvincingly drew against Burnley at home. That night they showed us how to play pretty and effective attacking football and I think we've learnt a lot of lessons from them. We haven't lost since.

I left that game frustrated, every goal was conceded through a mistake... We looked pretty good against them.

lcfcfan23 Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 fulham in the cup - late winners are always memorable, and showing we are capable of beating an established prem side derby- utter filth, class performance forest- kept the run going late on with 10 men against rivals. big confidence boost and important for the fans
foxes4e4 Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 watford away. then qpr away. we've been up since then really. could say bolton at home too, behind twice then missed a penalty but went on to win to extend our lead and winning run. the same for me no demons from watford qpr unbeaten at home and never knowning how to lose vs bolton
Bayfox Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Qpr was a massive result. Look at their form since. Look at ours. But for me. Watford away. Not in the context of them being shit this year but. It clearly meant a lot to the squad and I think knocky scoring felt like redemption not for the fans as much but for him personally. we had already forgiven him but I think he just needed that for himself. Leeds away proved we can play shit and win. But for me that doesn't define us this year. Because we are class this year.
65RosesFox Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Away QPR and Leeds, both fantastic snatch and grab away wins. Grinding out the result. In previous seasons we have always been on the receiving end of these types of performances. Forest, went from 1-0 up to 2-1 down in the space of five minutes. Then went down to 10 men and still managed to get a result. Once again in previous seasons we would've been the ones struggling to hold on to a lead with a man advantage. Home Watford coming from. 2-0 down to earn a point with a great finish from DD to keep our unbeaten run going and also having a great opportunity to win it with Nugent, last kick of the game. Derby - in form team and we ripped them apart. But the one that stands out the most has to he QPR, top of the table clash and a great finish from one of our best players this season Vardy.
AKCJ Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Wigan 2-0 Our Liam's first goal and a massive performance from the lad meant he had made the jump up to the first team.
sdb Posted 13 March 2014 Posted 13 March 2014 Day 1 - 'Boro away. Banished the demons from May, which I feared would take months. Watford and QPR away for obvious reasons. Following them, Derby home, Leeds away and Forest away. Beauty and winning ugly and tough.
