Finnaldo Posted 3 October 2014 Posted 3 October 2014 The irony is unless they miraculously become done super top six team they'll never have a massive foreign fanbase and by this saga he's just isolating the significant fanbase they actually do have.
AKCJ Posted 3 October 2014 Posted 3 October 2014 He's such a moron. Just so happy that we've avoided these types of jebends with Top and Co.
Manwell Pablo Posted 3 October 2014 Posted 3 October 2014 I don't think twats like him and Tan actually grasp how much tampering with the game like this affects people
Jordan Posted 3 October 2014 Posted 3 October 2014 It's utterly ridiculous that Allam is still chasing this windmill. He tried to point out again that the club "will never make it" with a name like "Hull City Association Football Club Tigers." I wonder if Allam has ever heard of "Football Club Internazionale Milano Società par Azioni."
Vlad the Fox Posted 3 October 2014 Posted 3 October 2014 Hullchesterlona Madrid would attract more business than hull tigers, he should go for that. The game will be better off without these types so good riddance, though I still laugh how he threw his toys out the pram after we took Pearson off them.
Finnegan Posted 3 October 2014 Posted 3 October 2014 Does he really think that Hull will be globally famous if they're called a different name? They'll always be shit. What a fruit loop.
davieG Posted 17 March 2015 Posted 17 March 2015 Hull Tigers name change back on table as FA Council verdict thrown out Last Updated: 16/03/15 5:09pm Assem Allam: Hull owner has threatened to sell up over name-change issue Hull City have been told they can re-apply to have the club's name changed to Hull Tigers. The Football Association Council rejected Hull's request last year, prompting an appeal which has now been considered in full by an independent tribunal. That three-man panel has now thrown out the FA Council's original decision and invited a new application ahead of the 2015/16 season. The tribunal rejected a number of Hull's reasons for challenging the original verdict but said one member of the committee that considered the application had been wrong to take the views of supporters as "the only factor" in his decision. That committee member was Malcolm Clarke, chairman of the Football Supporters' Federation. The FA website carried the full version of the tribunal report, which concluded "that the decision of the Council cannot stand. We set it aside." It went on: "At this stage of the season it would be impractical and wholly inappropriate to direct the Association to make a fresh decision to take effect during the current season. The club is free to make a new application." Hull owner Assem Allam has long argued that the name-change would make the club more marketable abroad, but his plans caused anger among some supporters. Allam at one stage even said he would sell up if he was forbidden from adding 'Tigers' to the name.
Voll Blau Posted 17 March 2015 Posted 17 March 2015 What a joke. The views of the fans should be the only factor considered in a decision like this.
MrSpaM Posted 17 March 2015 Posted 17 March 2015 Id rather be relegated than have our name changed to 'Leicester Foxes'
JIMMYWILLIS Posted 18 March 2015 Posted 18 March 2015 Looks like you get your wish without the risk of a name change
Fox92 Posted 19 March 2015 Posted 19 March 2015 Looks like you get your wish without the risk of a name change Think he means playing in the lower divisions?
davieG Posted 11 July 2015 Posted 11 July 2015 Hull City lose FA vote to change name to Tigers for the second time The Football Association Council has rejected Hull City's application to change their name to Hull Tigers for the second time. The Council's decision - carried by a 69.9% vote of its members - followed the recommendation of the governing body's membership committee. The club's first attempts to change the name were blocked by the council in 2014. Owner Assem Allam warned he would sell Hull if the change does not happen. Hull, relegated from the Premier League last season, were told in Marchthey could make a new attempt to change their name. Allam, who has faced protests from the club's fans over the issue, is convinced that rebranding the club is the only way to bring new investment in from overseas markets.
Voll Blau Posted 12 July 2015 Posted 12 July 2015 Greg Dyke was all in favour though... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/hull-city/11734084/FA-councillors-stage-blazers-revolt-against-Greg-Dyke-over-Hulls-name-change-proposal.html Disgraceful.

As I understand the reason he wants to change the name is because he's fallen out with the city council and therefore doesn't want to be associated with them, "City" that is. Obviously not something that came up in the conversation between Allam and Dyke. It would be interesting to know what was offered, if anything in return for his sudden change of opinion as it seems unlikely that either of them give a toss about the local community other than to ingratiate themselves to make them look good.
