Guest Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 Enough with the promotion threads. We've been promoted for some time and even a win every game of the season for QPR and Derby won't get them above us - NO! we are not going to get less than 3 points from our last 6 games. So When do you all reckon we'll be confirmed as Champions? we're 10 ahead of Burnley they have 7 to play. I reckon they hit a mini slump after the humiliation of being outclassed by us. They'll be Lucky to get 5 points from the next 9 possible. That'd mean we could be playing for the title against QPR if we could beat Reading and Brighton. Getting more than 2 points from those games may be difficult though which would mean we're more likely to be playing away when we could take the title, or do you think it'll come down to the final game at home against Doncaster?

Nick Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 I've heard from sources close to the club that Burnley have some injury concerns - I still expect them to get the job done though and finish second though I do think QPR will have a late surge and will win today and we'll have to wait for the magic 'P' symbol.
StanSP Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 QPR will be the game. Burnley beat Watford today. - 82 points. 6 games left - 18 points We beat Brighton - 92 points Burnley beat Barnsley - 85 points 5 games left - 15 points Leicester draw with Reading - 93 points Burnley draw with Boro - 86 points 4 games left - 12 points Leicester beat QPR - 96 points Burnley draw with Blackpool - 87 points 3 games left - 9 points (we only need a draw) Leicester draw with Bolton - 97 points Burnley draw with Wigan - 88 points That's my thinking. Think we'll get it done vs QPR or Bolton. Whenever we do it doesn't matter - it's been deserved and it's only if you have pure hatred of Leicester that this title win will be envied upon. We've been by far the best team in the league so consistently. Top of the league since Boxing Day. 21 unbeaten. The title is there for us and only us!
DennisNedry Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 I think we've been realistically promoted for about a month now, I'd like to see Burnley have a little slump to ease my nerves a bit but still take 2nd.
lancyclaret Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 I'll be delighted if a "mini-slump" gets us 5 points from the next 3 games:) I'll be over the moon if you win or even only draw against QPR.

We'll do our best. I'll be delighted if it works out somehow that if we beat QPR, we go up as Champions and stops them from getting automatic!
Pegosteve Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 I've got Burnley getting to 93 points 4 wins 2 draws and 1 loss, but that was before Vokes got injured. Not sure now, Sheff Wed gave us more to worry about than Burnley, perhaps they are more concerned about looking over their shoulders rather than trying to catch us!
crisp packet Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 Don't think Burnley will win today to be honest ? I'd like 100 points and unbeaten till the end of the season now please nige ?
Aus Fox Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 How nice would it be to win the league with Mills, Danns,Beckford etc all watching on up at Bolton
Salieri Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 We'll do our best. I'll be delighted if it works out somehow that if we beat QPR, we go up as Champions and stops them from getting automatic! Would love this, especially as i'm coming up for this one.
Finnaldo Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 Don't think Burnley will win today to be honest ? I'd like 100 points and unbeaten till the end of the season now please nige ? Same here, I see Watford getting a few today. But I hope if they are on a 'mini-slump' then it's not too lethal, seeing QPR win would be lethal, as much as an injustice if we had won promotion under Sven. They're the best out of a bad bunch (though they're not a bad club themselves)
Strokes Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 I'm not certain we have seen the back of Burnley yet.
lancyclaret Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 I hope your promotion is sealed today because it will mean that QPR and Derby will have dropped points but I think they will both win while our injury-ravaged team will lose at in-form Watford who are banging in goals left, right and centre. Because we have 5 top players missing today, I am having my FIRST bet of the season (too good an opportunity to miss). I have a £50 treble on Watford (11-8), QPR (7-4) and Derby (11-8) to win. Returns £775.59. I think most Burnley fans are more worried about Derby than QPR (Rams have a ridiculously easy run-in).
Itsthejoeker Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 I think it'll be one of the away games, Bolton or Huddersfield.
Nalis Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 We'll do our best. I'll be delighted if it works out somehow that if we beat QPR, we go up as Champions and stops them from getting automatic! That would be ideal though I can see the injuries starting to effect Burnley as the season closes in. Burnley to seal promotion in the second last game I reckon.
Leicester_Loyal Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 Burnley should only need 7 points to confirm promotion. A win against a lowly Barnsley should get them 3 of those points.
lancyclaret Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 We will have Marney back from suspension and hopefully Trippier against Barnsley on Tuesday. Ings might be fit for Middlesbro next Saturday.
My Nads Posted 5 April 2014 Posted 5 April 2014 We will have Marney back from suspension and hopefully Trippier against Barnsley on Tuesday. Ings might be fit for Middlesbro next Saturday. It would be a real pity if Burnley didn't get the second auto spot now. Played really well all season, but now to have all of their best players out at the same time, is so unlucky, but I still think they should have enough to finish second. Derby and QPR aren't going to win all of their remaining games.

ceredigion Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 We will never have a better chance of finishing a season with 100+ points. It's virtually impossible for even the best Premier League teams to achieve this because they only play 38 games and very few sides playing in a 46 game league have done it either. We need 11 points out of the last 18 to accomplish this feat. That's 4 wins out of 6 games or 3 wins and 2 draws. I really hope that Nigel Pearson and the players recognise how close they are to achieving a real milestone in the club's history and don't take their feet off the gas now that we're already promoted. Carrying our unbeaten run into next season will do no harm to our survival prospects either.
