Is it really that painful just to hold your hands up, given that this thread was started by someone doing exactly that, not someone looking to say I told you so?

I wasn't replying in dt thread, it was another which was started with the league table.

I have nothing to hold my hands up for, I will repeat the criticism given at the time was constructive and at the time warranted.

At that time I wanted him gone, as it's turned out that would have been the wrong decision, and believe or not everybody is happy Nigel has got us promoted, but I have nothing to hold my hands up to.

I thought we would be lucky to scrape the playoffs this season, and i never expected pearson to last it either. I havent been calling for his head, just generally negative i guess.

Don't for get guys, going up is only the easy part, staying in the prem is the hardest part, just hope Nige can find some good players to compliment the ones we have now, it's going to be mighty hard.

It's not a case of I told you so in the main, I never said Pearson would get us promoted I had absolutely no idea if he would. What it is a case of, is stop being such a reactionary, stop trying to pin everything on the manager when you have no idea what's actually going on behind the scenes, look at the bigger picture and stop demanding success within months of someone taking over!

The debacle about the "fall outs" last year pretty much sums up the whole thing. There was no benefit of the doubt given, it was Pearson not being able to "handle big names" end of story. People never even entertained the thought that the players weren't good enough, or their attitudes weren't right, or that Pearson knew what he was doing in terms of building a squad. Two of those big names don't even get into a shit Bolton team in the bottom half of the league.

It's not a case of 'I told you so' with you Babylon. But it is and has been with many many others. I agree with you. People are reactionary, but that's people, at least some people. For as many of those who have criticised a performance ( eg. The Brighton away post-match thread) saying we are going nowhere, there are those who go completely OTT after one win. It's people, at least some people.

You can say what you want here and now, and many people are rightly agreeing, but if we start struggling next season, I assume the forum will once more go into meltdown. It's very nearly done over the past few weeks for God's sake!

If posters on here REALLY listen to you ( and others), then this shouldn't happen. The forum should remain calm and positive whatever happens next season. But if we go on a bad run, do you really think it will? I think the 'safe house' will be crammed once more should expectation not be being met.

Finally imagine what the forum would be like without reactionary, without contention, without having people to argue with?

I think it would be a more boring place.

So I get your point.. But it's not reality.

Do I expect it to change? Not in the slightest, perhaps a few wont be quite so hasty, but in the main the character traits of these people will remain the same.

If anything it will get a lot worse with a raft of people jumping on the bandwagon. And that is why I have said come the start of the season I shall disappear again for a while as I did this year.

I don't want to agree with everyone or for everyone to agree with me, but I also don't suffer fools gladly.

Well, I started this thread, and meant every word I said, about having been proved wrong.

It is really odd when one thinks about that awful run at the end of last season, to almost immediately, go to the other extreme, which has got us promoted with still six games to go. Has anyone any idea how this occurred? I suspect the close season was full of inspiration from NP, and getting his players to start afresh with new confidence and determination, plus a few inspired buys.

Upward, and onward for us all now, but it will take time and patience to establish ourselves. We MUST give NP and his players the very best support we can muster.

you really are a jeb end. Just admit it you're wrong and always have been.

This season has been nothing short of remarkable and NP, his staff and players have been brilliant :pearson:

Excellent use of the word 'jebend'

Is it? We showed in the first half of last season what we were capable of. Pearson and the lads look to have learnt from the experience and a few shrewd signings along with much improved substitutions seems to have enabled us to carry on that form for a whole year instead of just the first half.

This is my point about you doubters, you could see what we were capable of, it just happened that it didn't last all the way.

Fair play to the people who have held their hands up.

I'm not here to say I told you so..as everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I love reading Foxestalk..it has lots of "characters" varying through the positive/negative spectrum...some just perverse..you KNOW who I mean.

I enjoy reading the match/post match threads..which are usually shorter when we win strangely.

My gripe is with the posters that lambast players/Pearson during match threads..usually before half time..some to then praise them at full time with a win.

What possesses them to think..so and so is having a bad game..right..I'm going to go on Foxestalk and eff n jeff about whoever.

I agree with Babylon with the concern with next season IF we don't start off well.

I think there will be quite a few new posters..and if it's not going well..Foxestalk will go into meltdown.

For the people who have held up their hands..I'm hoping you've realised to give our team time.

We've got a hard but exciting slog ahead of us..

..ENJOY it as much as you can.

Aaanyway..here ya go..

To be honest DT, it wasn't only the fact that you were critical of Pearson, it was the intensity of the criticism that was very noticeable. Yes you can u-turn, but to go from an apparent complete critic of the man to what you are displaying now is a little fanciful.

Well done for holding your hands up, but I remember the conversations we've had previously where you declared your general admiration of Sven.

Lets see what happens next season..

This is my point about you doubters, you could see what we were capable of, it just happened that it didn't last all the way.

It goes both ways though do you not think? Potential is one thing but fulfilling it is another.

I was a doubter, to be honest probably more of the players than Pearson but was proved wrong, and gladly so.

The point I'm trying to make is that it was, looking back, wrong to doubt the team, but it wasn't a completely ludicrous notion for some to doubt him at that moment in time as people have suggested. For comparison, the opinons back then wouldn't be as crazy as say, suggesting Vardy is sold this summer, which would obviously just stupid.

Learnt from this so won't be knee jerk next season if things go awry.

Some called it correctly, some didn't. And to those that did, well done.

It doesn't really matter what anyone thinks, as long as the team performs. If I am wrong about supporting certain players / not thinking some are good for the club in the future so be it!

Looking forward to next season already!

The people who were bashing Pearson. And Vardy last season now need to grow a pair and just take it on the chin.

I had so called fans shouting at me in the street because I backed our manager and players last season.

The lesson to learn is don't dish it out if you cannot take it back when proven wrong!

I just felt that a good spell holds more weight than a bad spell, that's just my opinion of course. Plenty of teams are average or worse, not many are capable of putting together great runs for half a season.

Ha, I've just remembered getting into a fairly heated argument with a few lads on Zoonies bus on the way up to Boro first game of the season. 4 or 5 of them insisting Pearson was crap and should have gone over the summer.

Hope you remember me boys.

Well Col, the Sven thing is over, (I still believe he should have had the full season, before being sacked) and it is water under the bridge.

I did say BEFORE the season kicked off that I would back NP all the way, so I didn't jump onto the roller coaster.

Two little words though. Kasper....Nugent.     lol

fully agree. Keep the faith, let Pearson do his thing. I have full respect for you admitting your doubts. Let's enjoy our ride on the Pearson bus! Beep beep!
