HEGGSY Posted 4 May 2014 Posted 4 May 2014 Aneurysm. RIP Ray. Sports fans were united in their sympathy and Ray’s wife thanked them in messages posted on Facebook and Twitter. She wrote on Twitter: “Ray died doing something he loved, watching Rovers play. He dies peacefully. My family thank you all for the condolences.†On Facebook, Angela added: “He was a long-time Doncaster Rovers supporter and hardly missed a game over his lifetime. “It was an aneurysm not a heart attack. Thank you once again. Ange and family.†So sad
Donut Posted 4 May 2014 Posted 4 May 2014 Tragic. Promotion? Relegation? A young man of 42 leaving behind a wife and family. A huge sense of perspective on the day.
Leicester_Loyal Posted 4 May 2014 Posted 4 May 2014 42! my god terrible news. RIP! couldn't imagine how horrible it would be for his family! From where i was sitting in the kop, you could see a guy running down the steps screaming for stewards to get some help up. The stewards and medical staff got up there very quickly and tried everything to help and save him. Again thoughts are with his family, friends and Doncaster Rovers. From what I saw they took their time getting up there, didn't look like they rushed at all!
ithuriel Posted 5 May 2014 Posted 5 May 2014 Tragic news, had heard about the three casualties but never realised someone had passed away, may he rest in peace.
Raj Posted 5 May 2014 Posted 5 May 2014 same age as me...said at the time it looked horrific...puts things in perspective.
MC Prussian Posted 5 May 2014 Posted 5 May 2014 My heartfelt condolences to his immediate family and the friends who went to see the game alongside Ray.
-blue- Posted 5 May 2014 Posted 5 May 2014 I was close by and can confirm that the stewards were initially unsure what was going on, so didn't immediately act upon the desperate shouts for assistance. I'd also like to offer my sincere condolences to Ray's family RIP
LeicesterBran Posted 5 May 2014 Posted 5 May 2014 RIP Ray. It's really sad to hear about his death, I cannot imagine what is like to lose a loved one. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
XLM Posted 5 May 2014 Posted 5 May 2014 Thoughts are with his family and friends. Puts everything into perspective.
philce Posted 5 May 2014 Posted 5 May 2014 If it was indeed an aneurysm then there was probably nothing that could have been done. Thoughts with his family and friends, this puts things into perspective on how fragile our presence in this world really is, and how quickly we can leave it.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 5 May 2014 Author Posted 5 May 2014 Honestly think we should hold a friendly for this. Fans got on great with eachother and it would really commemorate the poor guy. RIP
